THE VOICE  OR DEMOCRACY

 

Our Australian prime minister states about the ‘Voice’, that no one would be hurt by the Voice. True or false? As per my investment in Democracy, this is false, even though Mr Albanese may not realise it. The victims of the Voice are Sovereignty of Democracy and Sovereignty of  Indigenous community.

 

Democracy and Autocracy are diverse pathways. Australia, where majority are migrants, has gradually moved away from autocracy, to democracy. In the process, junior in autocracy becomes equal opposition in democracy. In Hindu philosophy Ganesh represents Autocracy and the younger brother Murugan represents Democracy.  Murugan strongly opposed His parents’ judgment and declared independence and established His empire. On that basis, when the British established their authority over this land and its people indigenous Australians were excluded from voting rights. As per news report ‘On 27 May 1967, Australians voted to change the Constitution so that like all other Australians, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples would be counted as part of the population and the Commonwealth would be able to make laws for them’.

Given that Indigenous Australians  did not have the right to vote, they were not bound by the laws of made by migrants. Hence they were entitled to self-govern as per their truth.

It was in 1983 that the political right and responsibility of Indigenous Australians to vote was recognized by law. Wikipedia reports as follows under ‘Timeline of Indigenous Australians right to vote:

 

1984‘Commonwealth Electoral Act 1983 came into effect, making it compulsory for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to enrol to vote. It had already been compulsory for other Australians since 1924.’

The above law recognised the common responsibility to vote. The other side is the right to vote.

Democracy works successfully when a self-governing voter shares her/his powers through the vote.  If the voter is dependent on the government, then the value of the vote is for dependent government and not for self governance. The power that brings these together is the mind of Democracy. This mind at that place, at that time is the common mind of all believers in democracy and all practitioners of Due Processes of democratic voting.

 

The referendum for Voice is the parallel  of Commonwealth Electoral Act 1983, due to non-indigenous person initiating it. Declarations of belief apply to and work naturally for the owners. Its power is universal and therefore exponential. It spreads itself naturally within the group concerned. But when proposed by an outsider, it is relative and fails the test of ‘Beyond Doubt’. When we vote to correct past mistakes, it needs majority of the group that made the mistakes to make such a confession seeking forgiveness from the victims. Elevating the victims’ group to position of advisors, amounts to reverse discrimination. The ownership value of sovereignty is confirmed by the Hindu mantra Tat Tvam Asi/Thou Art That. May be a good opportunity to take advice from Mr Rishi Sunk.
