Gajalakshmi Paramasivam – 11 November  2015

No Deepavali for Sri Lanka and Yes Deepavali for Australia?

Under the PTA, as well as under the State of Emergency in effect during the war, confessions to the police and other authorities obtained under duress are admissible unless the accused can prove that they were involuntary.” – Speech by Australian Senator the Hon Lee Rhiannon on 10 November 2015
To Sri Lankans 10 November 2015 was a Public Holiday due to Deepavali the festival of Lights. It was reported :

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in his Deepavali message said: "Deepavali, the Festival of Lights, signifies a moment of light overcoming darkness, the good triumphing over evil, for the Hindu faithful throughout the world and Sri Lanka. It is a joyous occasion for the Hindus who celebrate it as one of the most important holy days in their calendar.’

If this has been truly upheld in Sri Lanka – at least in 2015 – then the above speech in Australia on Sri Lankan Deepavali day would not have happened.  As an Australian of  Sri Lankan Tamil origin I was feeling sad yesterday and hence my message ‘True Deepavali’ – instead of Happy Deepavali. Most of the above prisoners to whom Senator the Hon Lee Rhiannon gave Voice in Australian Parliament, at the same time I wrote and published my article without any knowledge of  the Senator’s speech – are Hindus. How could the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka expect fellow Sri Lankan Hindus to be ‘joyous’  – when they are not able to clear the ignorance of the Government about these Hindu-prisoners?’

As is my way – I am looking at the way of Natural Justice – for a Lesson. It came through the passing away of  Ven Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero, who is reported to have caused the demise of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s Presidential Powers. As per Wikipedia report:

[Ven Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero came to prominence during his struggle against then-President J. R. Jayewardene (in office: 1977-1988) and the latter's efforts to centralize power within the presidency, and threats against freedom of expression, civil rights and the rule of law. Thero was one of the most important leaders of the anti-Indian intervention campaign in the late 1980s as well. He was an excellent orator in mobilizing the Sri Lankan populace across the spectrum. He put his charisma, influence and skill to maximum use in the fight through the National Movement for a Just Society (NMJS) to bring in a pro-rights government on 8 January 2015 that ended Mahinda Rajapaksa's administration. He not only unified the divided opposition but also unified the trade unions, rights groups, artists, professionals and academia alike in his cause.]

I wrote yesterday on Indian involvement:

[Will the current Prime Minister also recognize Tamils as One Community of Equal Status to Govern themselves and either repeal Article 9 or preferably facilitate the merger of North and East as per Section 4 of Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution as follows:

Section 4 Insertion of Chapter XVIIA in the Constitution

4……
154A (Establishment of Provincial Councils)

(3) Notwithstanding anything in the preceding provisions of this Article, Parliament may by, or under, any law provide for two or three adjoining Provinces to form one administrative unit with one elected Provincial Council, one Governor, one Chief Minister and one Board of Ministers and for the manner of determining whether such Provinces should continue to be administered as one administrative unit or whether each such Province should constitute a separate administrative unit with its own Provincial Council, and a separate Governor

I believe that a merged picture of North & East would be seen as the protecting fortress by Sinhalese suffering from ‘invasion’ fears and Tamils desiring to match majority power through coalition with Indian Tamils. Mr. Abbott also was trying to prevent such coalitions of Communities by damaging Australia’s Sovereignty.]

This morning’s email message about Senator Rhiannon’s speech in Australian Parliament – confirmed to me that my projection based on my True identity with India’s contribution to Sri Lanka  is along the right track for Peace in Sri Lanka – so  Sri Lankan Hindus would be joyous on Deepavali days for years to come.

To me that was no coincidence. Truth supports those who support Truth.

The continuity of Sri Lankan ethnic problem is clearly confirmed by the following Editorial in the Daily Mirror – confirming that the National Media which condones such standards is working against a solution to the Sri Lankan ethnic problem:

[The Buddha Dhamma and the Judicial Service – EDITORIAL – 10-11-2105

[The nation is paying a glorious and unprecedented tribute to the prelate the Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Hamuduruwo who in his vision and mission was like a model proactive judge holding the scales evenly and getting closely involved in the battle for social justice for all people whether they be rich or poor, the powerful or the powerless. This would be an appropriate time to reflect on the Noble Eight-fold Path and Sri Lanka’s judicial process which during the past 15 years was severely undermined and suffered body blows from party political leaders. Along with the attack on judicial independence, we also saw a breakdown in the rule of law, leading to authoritarian trends which leaders such as Sobitha Hamuduruwo courageously challenged and fought against.]

If indeed the above Buddhist monk was Divine and was driven by Truth regulated by law and beyond – AND the President was one of his believers, all Political Prisoners who were taken into custody during the above stated 15 years – recognized as being the evil period as per Buddhist pathway – have earned their release. Those Tamil prisoners who declared that they were innocent – ought to have been released first. Instead of them dying through their fast – Sri Lanka lost its Buddhist leader. THAT is the Deepavali message. All true Sri Lankans would identify with it. I received a message of appreciation from such a Sri Lankan of Sinhalese origin, this morning:

[Thanks Gaja for  enlightening me on the correct perspective of prayer. Much appreciated.]

Another loss of Sri Lanka’s International Judicial status  was highlighted by the above Editor as follows:

[One of the world’s most eminent jurists, Justice C.G. Weeramantry, former Senior Vice President of the International Court of Justice has made an enlightened analysis of the positive effects the Buddha Dhamma should and could have on the judicial process. Justice Weeramantry says that in its noblest dimension the judicial service is one of the highest forms of responsibility that any individual is called to. An important source of wisdom which can illuminate judicial responsibility is the vast repository of instruction concerning human conduct contained in the teachings of the great religions.]

The above confirms that the Sri Lankan Judiciary deserved its loss of Independence – when Politicians like Mr. Rajapaksa were stronger forces. Sri Lanka is demonstrating serious failures in upholding the Doctrine of Separation of Powers – the very weapon the Judiciary used to accuse Mr. Rajapaksa when the Chief Justice was dismissed by the Executive President. When the Judiciary fails to uphold the fundamentals – such dismissals are suicide bombs. If we claim status through one pathway – say as a monk – and we choose to change horses midstream – the results would be disastrous to users of both pathways. Monks who follow Buddha as per their Uniform – changing to Politics - have caused damage to Buddhism as well as Politics in Sri Lanka.

The Island Article ‘Most fitting tribute to venerable Sobitha is to uphold good governance’ leads us to some examples of (1)Political status attributed to Buddhist monks even though Buddha the Origin – renounced such status to become their source AND (2) that Political status was not protected by Politicians for Parliamentary purpose only:

Jehan Perera writes about Venerable Sobitha:
[He became a subject of international controversy when his photograph appeared on the cover of a book titled "Buddhism Betrayed" by Professor Stanley Tambiah of Harvard University who was of Sri Lankan Tamil origin.

When Sri Lanka’s internal conflict that pitted the government against Tamil militants was growing in intensity in the mid 1980s, Ven Sobitha was a prominent spokesperson for the Sinhalese Buddhist perspective. He was portrayed by his critics as a hard line and nationalist Buddhist monk who advocated war over peace. He engaged in debate against those liberals who advocated a negotiated settlement of the ethnic conflict and power sharing arrangements, especially through the devolution of power, which they argued would address the roots of the conflict. The Ven Sobitha also challenged the might of the government of President J R Jayewardene who enjoyed a 5/6 majority of seats in Parliament when the president signed the Indo Lanka Peace Accord in 1987 that devolved power to the provinces and invited the Indian army into Sri Lanka to disarm the Tamil militants
.]

It is obvious that as per these writers - Ven Sobitha – was anti Indian in the Sri Lankan problem. Yet as per public records – Buddha was Indian. If Buddha was believed to be Divine by these monks – they would have invoked the spiritual powers of Indian leaders through Buddha who contributed to the Poor man’s pathway to Spirituality.

Justice Weeramantry is another example of one who has indiscriminately mixed his pathways. Justice Weeramantry’s voice is not heard at all in relation to the Hybrid Court recommendation by the UN nor about the plight of these Political Prisoners.

As per the above Editorial:

[According to Justice Weeramantry, Buddhism has a wealth of teaching and minute analyses regarding the working of the human mind.]

I came across Justice Weeramanty’s atcile on Ahimsa when I was in Colombo as a Pioneer of Airlanka (now Sri Lankan Airlines) for the 25th year celebrations in 2004. Mr. Weeramantry spoke about Religion but then also it was published under the Subject matter of Gandhi’s Ahimsa. http://archives.dailynews.lk/2004/11/01/fea03.html

As is my way I wrote a response – posted it to the editor of Daily News and forgot about it. Much later when I was googling through the net I noted not only that my response was actually published by the Daily News but that it was published on the same day I was declared to be following in the path of Gandhi, by an Australian mind specialist – Dr. Peter Vaugh, with the official position who refused to be led by my religious beliefs which were different to his.  http://www.lankanewspapers.com/news/2008/11/35813_space.html . If not for those challenges I would not have known and appreciated this Australian Medical Specialist who contributes to the Sovereignty of Australia – not as a Politician but through his regular work.

I have since appreciated the beauty of Truth. The deeper we go – the more precious the experience. Whenever I needed the support of my own Truth – someone came forward. But this was possible only when my focus was along my chosen pathway ONLY.

As per my assessment all prisoners who were arrested under Prevention of Terrorism Act during the past 15 years – are Political Prisoners – due to the Declaration that changed the leadership in 2015. As highlighted by a Sri Lankan Legal expert during a recent meeting of the Sri Lankan Reconciliation Forum in Sydney – where the Sri Lankan High Commissioner was the Keynote Speaker – the PTA itself is without sunset clause and therefore could be worked on the basis of belief. It has adequate provisions to facilitate belief of Politicians – strongly needed in a country where religion and law are indiscriminately mixed by leaders with official titles.

While one Buddhist is being celebrated by the media another who spoke against Muslims is reported to have lost status:
That is the REAL Deepavali message in Sri Lanka.
There is a legend about Lord Shiva carrying sand for ‘puttu’ (Indian/Sri Lankan Pasta) to demonstrate that the aged should not be forced by the Ruler to do manual work. As per that legend – Lord Shiva takes over the job from an old lady in return for ‘puttu’. Lord Shiva eats the puttu and goes to sleep. The king’s guards cane Him for not doing the work and the caning was felt by the very guards responsible for doing such work.
If we Tamil civilians therefore do the work of Buddhists and enlightening Sri Lankan and thereby upholding Article 9 of the Sri Lankan Constitution – which gives foremost position status to Buddhists – and are ‘punished’ through juniors in our Community – despite such true contribution from us – then the punishment will be returned to the leaders who use Buddhism to get into power.

TNA seems to have heard the voices of some of us who have spoken against TNA fasting with the prisoners. But we Tamils also have those who indiscriminately mix status:

Ceylontoday, 2015-11-10  -
Political prisoners TNA should boycott Parliament – Prof. S.T. Sittampalam - By Mirudhula Thambiah
[Former Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) Leader, Prof. S. T. Sittampalam said Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians should boycott parliamentary sittings as the initial step to solve the issue of political prisoners. President should consider granting general pardon to all prisoners. "Also the Opposition Leader can consider resigning his post to support political prisoners," he said.]

One of the best outcomes for Sri Lankan Tamil Community is the position of  Leadership of Opposition in National Parliament. The next is to merge North and East through One Provincial Administration. The Administrative pathway by using the Intellect needs to be followed by our Political Leaders – so that we would feel part of the generation that upholds Education as the first priority for Tamils. Only those who renounce their past status in other fields have the authority to make Political suggestions. Others need to have invested in good governance through their respective disciplines to have a share in Good Governance status – enjoyed at least by oneself. Truth recognizes all genuine assessments.

Gajalakshmi Paramasivam – 10 November  2015

Vibishana Invoking the Powers of Lord Vishnu at Sri Rangam

Dual Citizenship & Racism

I have my own laws which keep continuously evolving as per the Truth I discover through MY experiences. Earlier this year our Prime Minister then the Hon Tony Abbott threatened to legislate against dual citizens who were supporting Community Activists outside Australia. This would have covered Australians of Sri Lankan origin also. Others pointed to Mr. Abbott’s ineligibility to be member of  Australian Parliament due to his dual citizenship – citing Section 44 (i) of the Australian Constitution:

44. Any person who -
(i.) Is under any acknowledgement of allegiance, obedience, or adherence to a foreign power, or is a subject or a citizen or entitled to the rights or privileges of a subject or citizen of a foreign power
shall be incapable of being chosen or of sitting as a senator or a member of the House of Representatives.

The test has come in the form of Australian of Sri Lankan origin – Mr. Premkumar Gunaratnam – a Sinhalese carrying Tamil name and Australian passport – a Hybrid personality who stands testimony to the failure of Hybrid Courts in war inquiries. As per the Island news report:

Australian HC won’t intervene to secure Kumar’s release
[Australia has chosen to remain mum on the recently arrested Australian citizen Noel Mudalige though the government says he will be treated as a foreigner.
Authoritative official told The Island that the leader of the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) had given up his Sri Lankan citizenship to become an Australian citizen several years back, and, therefore he should be dealt with according to Sri Lanka’s immigration and emigration laws.
The Australian High Commission declined to comment on Mudalige’s arrest or action taken by the mission to secure his release. An Australian HC official told The Island that the HC wouldn’t comment on such matters.
Well informed sources told The Island that Australia hadn’t raised the issue with the Foreign Ministry…………………………………. A senior official said that the FSP should seek Australian help to facilitate Mudalige’s deportation as soon as possible. But, the question was whether Australia wanted to have him back against the backdrop of his political involvement here, he said.]

It is obvious that if the laws had provided towards this and Mr. Gunaratnam had dual citizenship – his Australian citizenship would have been cancelled by an emotionally driven officer of Mr. Abbott’s ancestry.

To my mind, dual citizens are not permitted to hold political power because like emotions, politics is a one way street. To be successful through politics/emotions,  one’s Belief needs to be stronger than Knowledge from external minds in wider world. It’s like seeing god through only one form all the time. So long as Politics is Belief based – it would merge with Knowledge based Administration – leading to Governance.  Belief, like God is One. In Politics/Emotions, Belief  has Only One form. At Governance level it has no form. At middle level for the purposes of harmony it takes Equal and Opposite forms in Knowledge Based Administration.

In Good Politics there is no reasoning at the primary level. One first identifies through her/his Truth and then seeks to explain through wider laws applicable to that jurisdiction. Hence if an Australian Parliamentarian were British also – which ‘form’ of  Belief would s/he use to believe and/or express? – Australian or British  - Mr. Keating or the Queen?

Likewise who is Mr. Gunaratnam’s Political Leader? – An Australian  or JVP Founding Leader Rohana Wijeweera?

Ethnic Equality is a long established Right in Sri Lanka. I have known this through my personal experiences as a Sri Lankan. But from time to time – those who are lacking in Belief – but manage to get into Parliament through false politics – dilute this Traditional Value that is to the credit of all Sri Lankans. The ‘language policy’ of the ‘Sinhala only’ politicians gave birth to the JVP armed rebellion through the natural system of Karma. I explained the difference between  Belief based Prayer and desire based ‘asking’ and ‘taking’ - to a Sinhalese responder to my article ‘Lord Skandakumar’- as follows: (The responder claimed that my statement "I myself pray to Lord Buddha to help the Buddhists .... " was false)

When the mind has that ‘form’ at the highest level – that form represents God – whether the physical body is alive or not. All these people at the temple are praying to Lord Skanda. They would never have seen Lord Skanda in person but have Him in their mind. Prayers happen when we seek from a source above the mind – the unknown Energy. If you take/ are given in a calculated way or as per the ‘seen’ and/or the known – it is NOT prayer.

Voters should be able to ‘pray’ to their political leadership – in the form of Person in Subjective system and in the form of Outcome in Democracy. Where there is Belief – there is room for Prayers. In Sri Lanka, JVP and LTTE produced outcomes through use of weapons. But once they came into Politics – the form of their ‘god’ / belief – made them lesser leaders relative to Politicians Elected by the People. By changing without renouncing - they became like Dual Citizens and effectively Stateless. To be fair to Northern LTTE – they held on until the last and died as heroes. To the extent they remained as the invisible armed leadership to defend against unjust invasion – living through their own Truth – they were Rebels. To the extent they attacked without being attacked – they were terrorists. Now that we Tamils have escalated the issue to UN level – we have the Responsibility to think at the UN level or remain strictly local and live as per the laws of our Truth. When we live within our Truth – no external law has the authority to mark us right or wrong.

This is the significance of Deepavali – the Hindu Festival of Lights which is now celebrated in Australia also.

Tomorrow, 11 November 2015 is Deepavali Day for Hindus and Remembrance Day for the Western world. In Tamil I understand the literal meaning of Deepavali as ‘Pathway of Light’ (Deepam=light; vali=pathway). It falls on the new moon day of the Tamil month of  October (Mid-October to mid-November of the Western calendar).

Deepavali is a Public Holiday in Sri Lanka and has been ever since I was a child. To me that confirms an earned entitlement demonstrating minority power at Equal level in Sri Lanka.  As a Community therefore Hindus have the right and the opportunity to enjoy Equal status as any other Community in Sri Lanka. Special Holidays such as Deepavali confirm this Equality at National level. In Australia – Hindus do not have such Public Holidays confirming our Equality as a Community at National level. But we have Equal Opportunity Laws at individual level to protect us at the individual level. By using this one could measure oneself to know whether one is on the right side or wrong side of the Australian Law, even though the Official Administration and the Official Judiciary may rule otherwise.

Aboriginal Community – led by Eddie Mabo got their Equality as a Community confirmed  through Land Rights and these rights  are remembered and honored now at public ceremonies. To my mind, Thai-Pongal (Farmers’ festival) and Deepavali as Public Holidays in Sri Lanka – specific to Hindus – confirm Equality at Community level. Buddhists do have more Public Holidays in terms of numbers. But the ‘gap’ is filled by minorities through time-based heritage. The older the value we invoke through such festivals – the narrower the man-numbers based majority at current times at that place.

Tamils need to invoke the oldest ancestral person possible within the family and/or community to know for themselves that they ARE Equal. This however should not be given ‘form’ to claim status in Democracy. To do so would be like Dual Citizenship. It’s like us claiming while we are in University - that we were outstanding at primary school. Likewise when we migrate to countries we need to base our express claims on ‘current performance’ and not how well we performed in Sri Lanka. We have the right to be assessed on that basis by any employer. In turn – senior migrants to whom the Queen is the Head of State – need to bring about closure to their past and bring into the current system of Democracy – only the Truth from the past – as invisible Energy – which has no form nor reason and hence no relativity. When the past is brought as is into the current which is no longer mono-cultural – racism happens and hence I was listed as Sri Lankan for legal purposes in Australia and this was upheld by the Courts. It happened all the time at the workplaces and I preserved my Equality through higher performance than those who criticized me. When I could not ‘hope’ any more – I surfaced my Truth through a Transparent process – as Tamils did in Sri Lanka through the Political process after the British left.

I give form to  Australia also as my home because I brought about closure to my paid work and therefore position responsibilities under those who were living off their past. This gave me the separation to enjoy the diversity in our cultures and complete the picture as per our Truth which includes Common Wider Principles to the extent we turned them into values. Had I not done this – I would not have qualified to serve war-victims in Sri Lanka through the Educational pathway. Emotions need to be escalated to the level of Knowledge – so discriminative separation would clear the pathway for the Administrative leadership. I needed to uphold the Truth that as per my experience during my time – Australia was not a really Sovereign Nation. Now that I have upheld the Truth – I have included myself as an Australian and since I believe I am Sovereign – Australia is also Sovereign to my mind.

Deepavali signifies that Light of Truth thus dispels Darkness of  Maya/Delusion. In terms of Sri Lanka,  Rakshasas (those driven by physicals powers) were dispelled by Rama – personification of Love. :

[ It was on Deepavali day that Sri Rama's coronation took place after his victorious return to Ayodhya from Lanka vanquishing Ravana and his Rakshasa brood. For a long period, Ayodhya had been plunged in darkness when Rama was in exile in the forest. In the absence of the effulgent Rama, Ayodhya was a city of darkness. The forests were filled with light. The return of Rama was hailed by the people of Ayodhya as the return of divine effulgence and hence they celebrated the event by the lighting of lamps everywhere.] Light the lamp within – Discourse by Sri Sathya Sai Baba on Deepavali Day – 05 November 1991

The moment Rama killed Ravana the king of Lanka and handed over the ruling power to Ravana’s younger brother Vibhishana – Lanka became a higher Nation to Hindus – irrespective of whether others in official position recognized it or not. In terms of Time – this precedes the arrival of Buddhism to lead Sinhalese towards realizing their Sovereignty. Hence Article 9 of the Sri Lankan Constitution which affords Buddhism - status as ‘foremost religion’ is an expression of desire and takes its practitioners to the dark old days of Ravana. Both – Rama as well as Ravana were Hindu. One was Governor and the other Voter Representative ONLY. The physical  had to die to clear the path for the Eternal to be recognized. That is Deepavali. Every Sri Lankan who celebrates Deepavali is also celebrating the Hindu pathway to Sovereignty.  Every such Sri Lankan empowers the nucleus / constitution of Sri Lanka. Laws are needed to protect the contributions of such Sovereign souls and the first one needs to be to repeal Article 9. No UN power could redeem Sri Lankan Policy based on a Constitution that confirms ignorance and fear.

Vibhishana is recognized by Sinhalese history also:

According to the Ravana Katha of Wickramasinghe Adigar (Prime Minsiter), after the defeat of Ravana, Vibhishana transferred the Yaksha capital from Alakamandawa to Kelaniya

Will the current Prime Minister also recognize Tamils as One Community of Equal Status to Govern themselves and either repeal Article 9 or preferably facilitate the merger of North and East as per Section 4 of Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution as follows:

Section 4 Insertion of Chapter XVIIA in the Constitution

4. The following Chapter and Articles are hereby inserted immediately after Article 154, and shall have effect as Chapter XVIIA and Articles 154A to 154T, of the Constitution:-
154A (Establishment of Provincial Councils)
(1) Subject to the provisions of the Constitution, a Provincial Council shall be established for every Province specified in the Eighth Schedule with effect from such date or dates as the President may appoint by Order published in the Gazette. Different dates may be appointed in respect of different Provinces.
(2) Every Provincial Council established under paragraph (1) shall be constituted upon the election of the members of such Council in accordance with the law relating to Provincial Council elections.

Mr. Abbott also was trying to prevent such coalitions of Communities by damaging Australia’s Sovereignty.

Leader of the National Opposition or Leader of the Tamil Only People?

Our thoughts about  Tamil Political Prisoners in Sri Lanka also need to be raised to the global level on the basis of Truth and Reconciliation Promises made to the International Community by the Sri Lankan Government through the. It is also important for migrants who have taken refuge in other countries – based on the claim of war in Sri Lanka. An expression and/or action by a person in different countries and/or at different times would generate different outcomes. Truth takes us to a mode of Virtual Reality – as if we are having the experience here and now. Truth cures all ailments through the mind.

One such reality is to go back in time. The best expression of appreciation to my article ‘How Northern Tamils defeated Mr. Rajapaksa’ was :
‘Very good article and wonderful comparison’.
That wonderful comparison was about a woman/wife not being a commodity. Likewise any minority at physical level. We are all absolute beings. In the example used – Throupathi – the Queen refused to allow herself to be treated as a Commodity. She did not depend on others to do so. She had the courage of her chastity.

In his recent statement regarding Political Prisoners – Tamil National Alliance Leader the Hon Rajavarothiam Sampanthan has stated that the Government must have courage to repeal the offending law and replace it with a more appropriate law. The Chief Minister of Northern Province – the Hon CV Wigneswaran, also of TNA is reported to have  proposed  ‘proposed that all detainees suspected to come under the provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), but against whom no cases have so far been filed, could be released on adequate bail.’

To my mind, Mr. Sampanthan needs to go back in Time and Mr. Wigneswaran has to go forward in Space to have the virtual experience and then publish their verdicts/suggestions. Such would merge naturally. To the extent of my investment in either position – I am able to invoke the reality of these positions. The National Leader of the Opposition has to identify with the Truth of the minorities in the Nation – all minorities. This would be easier for a Tamil or Muslim or Burgher than for a Sinhalese. In a country where the ethnic problem has been allowed to be brought to the world-stage, we need to limit the categorization to Community level until we become eligible again to use national identity.

Going back in Time to the LTTE period – how did Mr. Sampanthan as a Tamil Politician feel when  the LTTE eliminated Tamil Politicians? If Mr. Sampanthan found the LTTE guilty – what punishment would he have recommended to the LTTE as a whole?

Likewise, if Mr. Wigneswaran were to go forward in Space – i.e. – wider world at National level – as Resident  of Colombo  – and think in the shoes of a Sinhalese in a  Tamil suburb  of say - Wellawatte / Colombo 6 – would he recommend the above without any change?

Value of Truth is Absolute and when given form - Truth keeps our brain steady due to Natural  Balancing system of Equality. Some find Truth  as individuals and others collectively. The more we go back in time – for example through heritage values – with belief in the value and/or the person – the easier it would be for us to invoke the Truth as it happened through the combination of many forces. When we do so as individuals and/or locally through people we have known for some time – we need to use Time basis with least visible outcome being in our mind. That is the way of Subjective system. In a Democracy, healthy Politics would be based on subjective expressions of belief. One who has invested in the other irrespective of physical attributes – including money and good looks - would know whether the other speaks the Truth or not. As a Tamil whose colleagues were killed by the LTTE – Mr. Sampanthan must have felt a sense of Loss – as if a part of him was killed. Given that both the killer as well as the killed were Tamils – it is like one organ killing another – for example the tongue driven by taste of food,  killing the brain’s memory that that tasty food is also unhealthy. Whatever Mr. Sampanthan would do to ‘save’ that memory of higher enjoyment from brain to brain – is the rightly applicable law for Tamils as a self-governing Community.

Mr. Wigneswaran on the other hand needs to become the other side of the LTTE’s actions (opposition) of which he would not have had any internal warnings as an outsider in Colombo with which Jaffna needs to merge. It’s like in marriage. If Mr. Wigneswaran’s younger brother killed his wife’s brother – and taking that Mr. Wigneswaran loved his wife – the loss needs to be known through the loss his wife felt. It’s like how a Muslim married to a Christian would have felt about the 9/11 attack. If there were no significant feelings – then we did not incur any damage. It confirms also that we are not bound by higher common principles that would lead us to wider world.  We were just observers of what happened to ‘others’ and all we can conclude is quantitative – as in majority vote obtained through money. It goes nowhere on its own power – for better or for worse.

Both Tamil leaders have the responsibility to present their own suggestions in the form of new Draft Legislations at respective levels and not merely ‘tell’ the government it was wrong and/or suggest a lower escape route by closing the eye.

The wife of one of the persons who disappeared after a round up in Maravanpulavu, Chavakachcheri, Jaffna District,  Northern Sri Lanka (Appendix) submitted documents confirming the disappearance of her husband and the father of her children. Her story moves my heart because I am connected to that Land area as well as the culture. I would not need any documentary proof of the wife’s suffering. But then who is more responsible for the loss and pain in this family? – the Armed forces who rounded up Maravanpulavu or the LTTE who resorted to weapons based opposition and therefore invoked the armed power of the Sinhalese? From the moment LTTE denounced the Government – it lost its entitlement to be protected by the Government. Likewise its supporters. I got to know about member of my family who was with the LTTE and later got killed by them, only after he died. But in every instance when I went into my Truth as per my personal experience with those who died apparently prematurely, I was able to find no fault with what happened. Death of the body is physical. Once we go into our True experience – that person becomes alive for us and lives with us as part of us. In terms of the war s/he could be an offender or a hero. That becomes my responsibility only when I have an official position. Beyond that, recognizing them through their Truth and finding fault with them where I find them guilty of damaging wider world that I am part of – cleans my own mental environment and completes the relationship to make that person a natural part of me.

The war happened due to relative weaknesses – often leading to persons assuming higher powers than they truly had – with or without official position. When we are young we either go with lateral power of majority and remain at the same level as they or our brain instructs our body to lift our life to the higher level. When the body is old and the physical ability to enjoy  is diminished – one needs to be able to live with the diminished level of enjoyment to have harmony between the body and mind. One who enjoys excessively when young would burn out quickly and unless one is able to live within the body’s level of enjoyment – one would expect to enjoy what s/he thinks others are enjoying. This leads to disharmony of  the mind.

If our Politicians were the higher mind and the LTTE was the body-driven arm  – LTTE which has enjoyed relatively more than those driven by the higher mind – would have disharmony in the mind if it continues to think that others have more than they – the same way majority Sri Lankans think that Australians enjoy more than they. Only one who truly belongs to both would know that this is NOT so. One must have the experience or believe the person/s who has/have had the experience.

Tamil leaders have promised support for the UN Resolution. The more benefits based our thinking is – the lower our mind-order. Hence the Rajapaksa-Prabhakaran coalition which deceived the ordinary People who had/have the real mandate for self-governance as per their own Truth.

The victims of LTTE on the Sinhalese side – includes Asanga Abeyagoonasekera, the son of Ossie Abeyagoonasekera who was killed by the Tigers 21 years ago. Asanga expresses his identity with his father’s goodness as follows:

[Albert Camus writes in The Rebel: An Essay on Man in Revolt, "rebellion cannot exist without a strange form of love." My father had a strange form of love for his fellow countrymen. This very love was deemed rebellious due to the existing political situation. Many of the political decisions he made at that time along with his friend Vijaya Kumaratunga made them unpopular, but in such a volatile time I believe the decisions they made were for the people of our nation.]

Likewise, there may be ‘sons’ of Prabhakaran who identify with his value. But there are also those who contributed to higher pathways especially through Education who are not able identify with Prabhakaran and the LTTE or who have expressly found fault with the LTTE. Tamil Politicians are answerable to them also. If we do not wear that higher position uniform – we may feel ‘free’ and allow lower level mergers of the mind – which would be far deeper damage to the Tamil Community than the losses in 2009 due to the armed attack of the Government.

 APPENDIX 1
Missing person: Annalingam அன்னலிà®™்கம்
Name of father: Sinnavan Ramanathan சின்னவன் இராமநாதன்
Name of mother: Alvappillai Ratnapoopathy  à®†à®³்வாப்பிள்ளை இரத்தினபூபதி
Date of birth: 21st January 1969
Identity Card 690213206V
Birth Certificate number 3589

Occurrence in brief:
Missing from: 19 July 1996. At about 0830 hours in the morning, Annalingam, (a fishermen and a toddy tapper) was baby-keeping his 7 month old third son. His older son and daughter were playing with the tiny tot, while his wife Jeyakala was cooking breakfast.  Neighbours were talking about a round up in the area by the army. Jeyakala heard that men from eastern Maravanpulavu were taken away in the morning by the army. Army came to the house of Annalingam through the front gate as well from the backyard fencing. Intruding army men instructed all in the family to march towards A32 highway, to a place called the Banyan tree (Aaladi). Jeyakala protested saying that a nursing babe-in-arms was in the family and they cannot move out all of a sudden. Army instructed Annalingam to hand over the baby to Jeyakala and move. Prisanthini, the daughter went to hug her father and wouldn’t leave him. Both went together to Aaladi. Jeyakala could not with stand the ordeal. Leaving the kitchen with half-cooked food, Jeyakala went with her husband carrying the baby, followed by her son. Neighbours, most of them relatives of Annalingam were also instructed to march. Annalingam, Jeyakala and the two children walked for about 1.5 km through the paddy fields to reach Aaladi at about 1100 hours. It was hot sun. All were asked to sit in the open paddy fields. There was a crowd of more than 300 persons. Men from the army and navy were there with 2 to 3 long trucks. There were police personnel, both men and women, from the Kopay police station. Grama Sevaka Officer J/298 of Maravanpulavu was among the crowd having been part of the roundup. Army asked them to gender-segregate.  Pirasanthini was hugging her father Annalingam until forced to join Jeyakala. Females were asked to line up for screening. Women moved in a row towards west. Few young women in the row were taken into custody. Jeyalalitha daughter of Poopalasingham was one of them. Jeyakala saw Jayalalitha being isolated for detention. Annalingan was in the men’s row proceeding towards north for screening. While being screened Annalingam was isolated and pushed into a waiting army truck along with men of his age group. Jeyakala, Vasanthakumar, and Pirasanthini saw Annalingam being pushed to be loaded into a truck. Jeyakala and the children rushed towards the truck. Army, navy and police personnel used mild force to chase away all persons rushing towards the truck, for a distance of about 500 m. south. Crowd retreated before making another abortive attempt to go near the truck. Army men became harsher and threatened the surging crowd. At about 1500 hours the army convoy with detained persons in the trucks headed towards west. The crowd ran behind the truck. The crowd could not keep pace. Jeyakala with her 3 kids walked back 1.5 km to her home. She fed the children. Jeyakala with babe in arms rode on a pillion in the bicycle pedaled by Sinnavan, father of Jeyakala following the convoy at a protectable distance to Navatkuli.  Jeyakala reached the mound on A32 highway across which she was prevented from proceeding. Jeyakala cried. Many women in the crowd howled. Jeyakala shouted that her husband Annalingam was an innocent man attending to the family, working for a merger income.  Jeyakala told the army that she had a babe-in-arms. Army men did not care. They baton-charged Jeyakala while her baby cried. Jeyakala would not give up. Her loved one, her care-taker, her bread winner, her protector, her life partner was within a stone throw distance. Since the army announced a curfew, Jeyakala came back home with the babe-in-arms on pillion of her cycling father Sinnavan. Pirasanthini had a restless night. Thoughts about her father haunted her. She loved him most. So Jeyakala took Pirasanthini and the babe-in-arms at the wee hours of the morning, next day the 20th to Navatkuli. Jeyakala took with her a photograph of Annalingam. Army had blocked the road. Jeyakala sat with others on the road. Army men told the crowd that the detainees would be released after inquiry. Thirst choking, hunger burning, sun scorching, road gravel pricking, Jeyakala and the children ungrudgingly sat awaiting the release. With no light at the end of the tunnel, depleted, deprived, grieved with the feeling of prolonged separation haunting, Jeyakala returned home around 1500 hours. On Sunday the 21st the ordeal for Jeyakala remained the same. She was there in the wee hours of the morning with her two kids. She feigned that she was sick, her children were sick and managed to obtain a pass to cross the blockade and go towards Navatkuli junction. Walking westwards, climbing down the mound, she looked at the partially damaged building on her right. Pirasanthini screamed. She shouted “Appa”. She had identified her father standing blindfolded and handcuffed in the verandah. Jeyakala saw her husband. She shouted. She hailed. Army men came and chased her. There were many men handcuffed and blindfolded along with Annalingam. Jeyakala and the children strayed around the area and returned along the same route. Eyes of Jeyakala and Pirasanthini were wide open, fixed to their left. They were searching for their beloved Annalingam. Alas! None were in the building. However the crowd continued to wait on the road. They waited till dusk and later returned to their homes empty handed. On Monday Jeyakala with babe-in-arms went to the office of the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to formalize the record of missing Annalingam.

How Northern Tamils defeated Mr. Rajapaksa

Daily Mirror reports through its article The Solheim claim  ‘Mahinda planned to offer the North to Prabhakaran’:
Former Norwegian Development Minister and peace envoy to Sri Lanka, Erik Solheim dropped this bombshell days ago claiming that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa had been willing to give self-rule to Tamils without calling for elections in the North.’ -‘

Those who have been investing in Sri Lankan Governance would not find this surprising. A good example included in the above article, confirming this is as follows:

[The undiplomatic nature of some of the comments made by the former Norwegian  minister, whether they were true or not, must be the result of his somewhat bitter last encounters with the former president. To mention a case in point, during an interview former “The Hindu” Editor N. Ram had with Mahinda Rajapaksa in July 2009 the latter’s secretary Lalith Weeratunge had intervened to say:  “It was about March 2006 when Mr. Solheim came to see H.E. after he became president and had also said, in the midst of other things: ‘Prabhakaran is a military genius. I have seen him in action etc., etc. to which the President had responded: ‘He is from the jungles of the North. I am from the jungles of the South. Let’s see who will win!’ It was very prophetic. Later the President met Minister Solheim in New York and reminded him of their conversation on the ‘military geniuses,’ of the jungles of the North and South, and who would win. The East had by that time, in 2007, been cleared and the President had said: ‘Now see what’s going to happen in the North,[ it will be ]the same.”]

But as per what happened ultimately – Mr. Rajapaksa was defeated by Northern Tamils. One could say that Prabhakaran lost to the armed forces and Mahinda Rajapaksa lost to the People – both due to giving preference to ‘foreigners’ above ‘locals’.

They say that no man is an island. We have networks of connections – some human and others natural. The most difficult ones to identify with are the natural ones – especially when one is used to being pampered including by one’s own past. When we are connected to our own Truth we recognize others’ Truth. That’s the way of Creation. When I wrote about my experiences at family and/or institutional levels – there were many who were critical of such writing. Despite losing popularity with them – I kept writing. I felt empowered by those who had previously appreciated my work and others who developed faith in me due to my writing work. I fully believe that when I share my Truth – the minds of those of Common Faith would become more orderly through such sharing. That is a higher reward for my work than being popular with those who are yet to identify with their own Truth.

I now realize that when the individual is connected to her/his Truth – the Family that s/he is a part of is orderly; when the Family is connected to its Truth – the Community that the family is part of is orderly; When the Community is connected to its Truth the Nation is orderly; When the Nation is connected to its Truth – the Region that the Nation is a part of is orderly. When the Region is connected to its Truth – the Globe is orderly.

Sri Lanka, to be connected to its Truth needs its own space. Hence the status of Sovereignty at UN level.  Another Nation – such as Norway – has the authority on bilateral level through common institutions. This does not include Politics on the basis of Land. India and other members of the Region have that added advantage – but only to the extent they feel Sri Lanka is a part of them through Regional commonness.

There are many lessons in the Indian Epic Mahabharatham through which one could work out one’s responsibility in particular situations involving Governance. When I read the above heading ‘Mahinda Planned to offer North to Prabhakaran’ – the example that came to mind was that of the loss of Pandava  Brothers – their country, their people themselves and FINALLY their wife – in a game of Dice. The question asked then by wife Throupathi was ‘Did my husband offer me as the stake before he lost himself or after?’  The reply  was ‘after’. Then Throupathi says words to the effect ‘that she was not a commodity to be offered as stake’. The question whether the offer was ‘before’ or ‘after’ was asked towards bringing this out. It’s the difference between cook and chef. If Throupathi was a servant – without ownership in Head Position in that structure – the master had the authority to offer her as ‘stake’ as per the policies of that time. But given that Throupathi chose her husband out of many who claimed to be eligible -   she confirmed her Equal status as a Royal  at the point of entry. It’s the parallel of Equal Opportunity entitlements to those who enter Australia as Equals through the migration process – not as assessed by officers – but as per the migrant her/himself through the Truth known to her/him..

By threatening the voters in North during the  2005 Presidential Elections  Prabhakaran made a commodity of  Tamils. But the minds of Tamils continued to accumulate power by rejecting this move. When we try our best to follow the processes within our environments and then submit our contributions to our own Truth within – with our conscience as our Judge – we are in the system of Truth which works independent of any particular individual or group. It answers to all contributors to Its system along the way. As a Sri Lankan – I followed my conscience and the law most of the time I was living in Sri Lanka.   As an individual I naturally add value to my family, my community and my nation through my Truth. If I therefore followed law above my Truth – when they showed different outcomes, I would be damaging this natural network. Hence my setting aside  of the official system from that point  onwards. This connected me to grassroots level including through Australian ancestors.

Where I could not identify with the law naturally – I limited my area of authority  to my Truth. Hence I feel connected to Sri Lankans also at grassroots level. If I feel I am a Sri Lankan of Equal status to the President – then all those who are connected to me through Common Faith – are part of that institution that is an equal parallel to the Government. THAT is Natural Devolution.

Once Vaddukoddai Resolution was declared in 1976 – all believers in the status of Tamils as a Community  being Equal and Different to Sinhalese as a Community  became such a parallel in Sri Lanka. The Blessings of Nature were confirmed through the 1977 Parliamentary elections which confirmed this Equal status. THAT was the confirmation that the belief of those Tamils who truly felt Independent – was from then on part of the Lord’s system. LTTE reduced its own status by picking up arms AFTER this manifestation. The reason is revealed through Mr. Solheim’s declaration  - ‘Prabhakaran is a military genius’.  Tamils’ higher contribution to Self-Governance was thus damaged for lower ends of military wins.

Mr. Rajapaksa in turn treated Northern Tamils to show how (like Sakuni in Mahabharatham) clever he was at cheating in Politics which eventually became cheating in weapons based war. Tamils did lose money and human resources but the young prisoners  who recently declined  ‘Rehabilitation’ based on their self-assessment – confirmed that the losses have strengthened our  Dignity. Truth never dies. The body of the true believer may be absent in Sri Lanka. But the Truth shared by them until the death of that body will continue to empower everyone who Believes s/he is Sri Lankan, towards self-governance. Likewise the Sri Lankan soldiers who believed as per their experience – that they were protecting the sovereignty of their Nation. No UN inquiry or punishment can touch them provided they do not ‘desire’ unearned benefits from wider world.

At the Higher Common level – this is a battle between the Self-Governing Citizen and the Dependent Ruler. The Ruler who desires money and quick status – makes her/himself dependent on ‘invaders’.  Sinhalese Rulers became dependent on voters and Prabhakaran became dependent on Indian Politicians who would pay him for his cleverness. India’s  Spirituality punished its own to return the karma quickly to kill its own Political leader. Once Nature has punished, we lesser mortals have no authority to punish.

Sri Lanka being less spiritual is taking longer but is getting closer and closer to its Truth through  the few Sri Lankans who are connected to their own Truth – however money or status poor they may be and however far away from Sri Lanka they may physically reside. All those who expect handouts and handovers are blocking that path and they would reduce their own negative karma by stepping aside to facilitate these few self-governors who would lead Sri Lanka to redeem itself.

Courageous Tamil Heroes

Australia Playing Double Game in Sri Lanka?

Tomorrow is the deadline in relation to the Sri Lankan Presidential Promise to deal with the matter of Tamil Prisoners who are largely described as Political Prisoners by the media. Majority of the prisoners have been arrested under Prevention of Terrorism Act . As far as the prisoners are concerned – if they acted to uphold the Government in their area – even if it were the LTTE – they are Political Prisoners. In a Democracy the prisoner has the first right of declaration of belief. As per the Colombo Gazette Report :

[A group of Tamil detainees were presented to Court today and most of them were re-remanded after they refused to accept an offer to undergo rehabilitation.
The detainees, who call themselves “political prisoners” but are not recognized as such by the Government, said that the court, Government and Tamil National Alliance will be held responsible for their lives if they are not freed unconditionally.]

I immediately blessed these guys and recognized them as Political Prisoners. That was the Heritage  of my own experience here in Australia. The Truth from a relationship is the Heritage that we take into our next/other  relationship/s. To be productive citizens therefore – these prisoners must identify with the punishment they get.

It is interesting the these prisoners have included TNA – Tamil National Alliance also in their group of those responsible. Yet one does not recognize any admission of these charges on the part of TNA:

[Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran told Parliament today that there are over 200 political prisoners in the country. He said that while the Government does not recognize these people as political prisoners, most of them are political prisoners. Sumanthiran said that President Maithripala Sirisena had given the prisoners an assurance that they will be released by November 7.However the MP said that as of today there was no progress to be seen and the Government must act fast.]

As a practicing lawyer, Mr. Sumanthiran ought to have recognized that lawyers  need the ‘authority’ of the client to represent that client in Court. If there are no such instructions it is the responsibility of the Government to facilitate representation of the ‘other’ side for Court purposes. Once the prisoners charged the TNA – the TNA no longer has the mandate to represent them. It is reported that:

[While leaving court some of them said that they were offered rehabilitation but only two of them accepted the offer while the others refused and sought their release.
Those who rejected the offer to undergo rehabilitation said that President Maithripala Sirisena, the Prisons Commissioner and parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran will need to take responsibility if any harm comes to their lives.]

THAT confirms that Mr. Sumanthiran did not have the confidence of the prisoners and therefore did not have the authority to take a Political stand in this issue.

What are the true political rights of this group? Given that Karuna – the Eastern LTTE Leader was accepted as part of the Government - all his deeds were effectively made ‘Political’ and the immunity granted became ‘Diplomatic Immunity’. The authority for such immunity is based on Truth. Laws are thus set aside to facilitate the flow of Truth which is healthy for the mind.

As per the media release of the Australian High Commission in Colombo about the Australian High Commissioner’s Political Declaration in Eastern Sri Lanka:

[The High Commissioner also thanked partners for ongoing cooperation with Australia to combat the shared challenge of maritime people smuggling. “Since the introduction of Australia’s Operation Sovereign Borders in 2013, every Sri Lankan people smuggling boat that has attempted to come to Australia has failed. The Australian Government’s policy on maritime people smuggling remains unchanged – if you travel illegally to Australia by boat, you will never be settled there” Ms Mudie said.]

By specifically ruling out Boat arrivals – Ms Mudie was confirming that it was more about ‘hiding’ Australia’s inability to protect its boarders than about Australia’s commitment to Global Refugee Policy. It effectively is  discrimination on the basis of money.

As per the Australian High Commission’s report:

[Australian High Commissioner, HE Robyn Mudie, was Chief Guest today (4 November) at the opening of the Advanced Seminar on International Humanitarian Law for members of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces, jointly organised by the Faculty of Law of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and the International Committee of the Red Cross.]

While Ms Mudie is preaching to the armed forces of Sri Lanka – one of the citizens the High Commissioner represents is reported to have acted in breach of the laws of Sri Lanka:

[The arrest had been made around 1.45 pm at Gunaratnam’s house at No 211/26, Anguruwella, Kegalle by a team of policemen from the Kegalle police on charges of violating immigration regulations, police said. Gunaratnam has been remanded till Nov. 18 by the Kegalle Magistrate.
Gunaratnam is an Australian citizen and he would be handed over to the Controller of Immigration and Emigration to be deported to Australia, police said.] – ‘Leader of FSP behind student protests Kumar remanded’ – The Island

In terms of Administration / Application of Law – the Australian High Commissioner’s first duty is to Australians. The actions of an Australian must therefore be the natural responsibility of the Australian High Commissioner than the actions of Sri Lankan armed forces on their soil. When their Sovereignty is interfered with through such ‘lectures’ – then Australia’s Operation Sovereign Borders  Policy is naturally damaged.

As per published information, the question is being asked as to why Mr. Gunaratnam is not able to take a political position whereas Karuna Amman – the LTTE Leader is able to? Sathyagaraya 30-04-2015 Part 02 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07ygoHuIAa8

Once Australia accepted Mr. Gunaratnam as its citizen – it must demonstrate responsibility  for his actions in breach of the laws of another country before the Australian Government preaches to the other country.

Whatever we may or may not do – Truth produces its own outcomes in support of those who contribute to the system of Truth. If at least one Australian of Sri Lankan origin was persecuted including through imprisonment for upholding her Truth through the lawful Democratic Process – and that  injustice was never ‘corrected’ for the purposes of Administration – Australia would get illegal immigrants by all means including by boats – proportionate to the manifested outcomes of the injustice. The rest would be carried as a cardinal sin carried by the position/s responsible and the country. The minds of the leaders would be infested with fears of Terrorism through this verdict of Natural Justice. One may escape punishment from human system by making and forgetting laws. But no one escapes their own mind structured as per their Truth and nothing but the Truth in the long term/wider world. This is the reason why Diplomats need to be driven by their Truth and remain silent where they are lacking in experience or learn from the wise who have had the experience.
