TAMIL RAJAPASAS RUINING TAMIL SOVEREIGNTY

Natives of Sri Lanka’s North use the diagnosis ‘Aarvak kolaaru’ when one goes beyond one’s capabilities to ‘show’ achievements. The closest English translation that comes to my mind is ‘hyper-enthusiasm’ as happens with excessive sugar. When does enthusiasm become a problem? When it causes unsteadiness in mind and / or body. As per my discovery, this would lead to depression – as night follows day. I relate to bipolar problem also being due to this distance between pleasure and pain. Gross body level enjoyment tends to be stronger than intellectual enjoyment due to the uncontrolled senses taking the  one way route. The brain that is higher than the senses is capable of using the outcomes of discriminative thinking through a common pathway. Above the brain is the mind filled with Truth which has no rights or wrongs. A mind filled with Truth is absolute/sovereign power. In summary, the ownership hierarchy is as follows: (1) Truth (2) Intellectual derivation (3) Physical possession.

My attention was drawn by a Tamil Diaspora leader, to the article ‘Tamil Diaspora says will help SL pay off foreign debt of $ 52 b, if SL agrees to amicable separation’ at Tamil Diaspora says will help SL pay off foreign debt of $ 52 b, if SL agrees to amicable separation | Daily FT

Given that I consider myself  a Sri Lankan Tamil – I immediately rejected the ‘proposal’. Then I decided to oppose it in the belief that my truth will spread itself to others who are Sri Lankans. Such sharing would reach the minds of all owners of Sri Lanka and when our investment is stronger than that of ‘separatists’, we would redeem and preserve Sri Lanka – as a sovereign nation.

The time has come for each Tamil to decide whether s/he is Sri Lankan Tamil or Eelam Tamil. Likewise, Sinhalese need to decide whether they are Sinhalese only or Sri Lankan Sinhalese. If commonness is past then we become like the Navagrahas / Nine-planet formation depicting our unchangeable past. If one were to visit a Hindu temple and observe the Navagraha shrine, one would note that they do not face each other. As per the explanation known to me – they are independent aspects of one person and do not affect / influence each other. When each member of a family acts as per her/his own truth only – s/he no longer influences any other member. The sun holds them and empowers them to revolve.  Common Truth is that sun.

In Sri Lanka, those who think and act at their community level are no longer part of the whole. As per the above mentioned report:

‘A spokesman for Tamils for Biden had talks with various sources and devised an idea that will save Sri Lanka from economic crisis and the Tamils from Sri Lankan oppression and genocide.’

That sounds very much like China’s debt trap – a key reason why Sri Lanka is struggling economically. Given the Biden connection, it sounds like Yankee Debt trap. As per Hindu culture, money taken without common need becomes debt which in turn becomes sin after the due date. Dr Chandrasekharan, a global minded Indian quoted me as follows:

[This reminds me of well thought out remarks by an analyst of Sri Lankan origin Gajalakshmi Paramasivam, in connection with the projects in Sri Lanka. She pointed out that “Borrowing without the ability to repay results in slavery. One who is a slave does not have the capacity to work sovereign powers anytime, anywhere!”] https://www.eurasiareview.com/10122018-myanmars-kyaukphyu-port-the-dragon-enters-in-a-big-way-analysis/

The Rajapaksas were well known for quid pro quos. In terms of Tamils – it began in 2005 when the LTTE blocked Tamils from exercising their Franchise in the Presidential elections, in return for a bribe. Wikipedia reports:

[Mahinda Rajapaksa was chosen by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party to run against Ranil Wickremesinghe, former Prime Minister and Opposition Leader. Wickremesinghe was the leader of the United National Party in the presidential election held on 17 November 2005. Despite the huge election campaign led by the UNP, Mahinda Rajapaksa was able to gain a narrow victory, by 190,000 votes. Rajapaksa's opponents claimed that he won only because the LTTE called for Tamil voters to boycott the polls. Most voters in these areas were forcibly restrained from voting, and it is said that they would have favoured Wickremesinghe of the UNP party. Rajapaksa received 50.3% of the vote]

As per Vaddukoddai community – this was in return for money. Ultimately the same president led the battle that ‘silenced’ the LTTE.  That money brought us the ‘sin’ which separates the LTTE community from law-abiding Sri Lankan Tamils.

If money is the weapon – a true Hindu would wait until the opposition had money – to settle scores. It is cowardly to fight against an unarmed enemy.

The question arises as to how American Tamils have access to such large amount of money. Are they becoming slaves of White Americans ? Here is an example of such slavery: (the response was to my article ‘SRI LANKA'S LEADERS ASKED AND RECEIVED ECONOMIC DOWNTURN’

American Tamil: [Let alone Gaja’s tune , should we not ask Gaja and Ourselves What is it we are gaining by reading the stupid Srilankan news ?

When We read the stupid news and articles about Srilanka , what happens to us ? A thinking process kicks off ( not for me definitely) . That activity of thinking of that rubbish starts and we become aware of the contents of that rubbish thought only . We never ask ourselves what happens to us ! We never realize that thought is a material process going on inside our brain and nervous system  about an absolute rubbish !

What are we learning out of it ? What are we gaining out of it ? What is that thought doing to ourselves?

We never pay attention to the activity of this thought ! Which is toxic to our intelligence!

A waste of our time and our intelligence ]

My response to this Americanised Sri Lankan Chartered Accountant was:

Gaja: [If you are calculating ‘gain or loss’ you are in  Profit & Loss Account mode. If you see neither profit nor loss, you are in Balance Sheet mode. As you ought to know the Balance Sheet is the one that confirms who owns and who is owed(liabilities). That is the current challenge that we Sri Lankans face.  If you had settled your dues to Sri Lankan elders – you also would have appreciated this value. If you claim to be Eelam Tamil without settling Sri Lankan dues, you would tell lies and lose membership with the wise group.]

American Tamils have confirmed that they were lying about Genocide – including to themselves. This covers up the LTTE’s atrocities during the war years. A Tamil indigenous to Northern Sri Lanka would know this and carry it as intuitive intelligence. As per Hindu philosophy, Truth balances it all. It is this truth that we have the duty to give form to, through our vote. As per my truth I am Sri Lankan Tamil. I am the sun to Eelam Tamils and Sinhalese who owed Sri Lanka in whose name they received monies, but failed to settle that debt. They therefore let the debt become ‘sin’. What does ‘sin’ do? It leads us. Hence we downsize and go into permanent isolation. This happened in Sri Lanka’s North due to casteism when junior castes self-isolated and felt ‘free’ to practice their own culture. Tamil Eelam would be limited to that culture and hence seems attractive to seniors in horse-trading. The price they pay is their higher intelligence. That is the lesson we have learnt through Rajapaksas. If Eelam Tamils insist on being the Rajapaksa heirs in opposition – they are no longer part of the present global governance.

SRI LANKA’S LEADERS ASKED AND RECEIVED ECONOMIC DOWNTURN

We learn practically every day that Sri Lanka’s economy has collapsed. Is that true or false? If the boom was false, so would be the bust.

The latest Australian sharing in this regard is the Sydney Morning Herald article headed ‘Food shortages, violence, economic ruin: How did things get so bad in Sri Lanka?’  at https://www.smh.com.au/world/asia/australia-s-cricketers-are-back-in-sri-lanka-but-how-did-the-island-nation-break-down-20220523-p5ant4.html

The author – Chris Barrett, is Australian. There has been some feedback from Alan Keenan the Sri Lanka project director for the International Crisis Group as well as from Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu - director and founder of the Centre for Policy Alternatives in Colombo. This, to my mind, means largely as to how the wider world sees  Sri Lanka and not how Sri Lanka sees itself.

The matter is presented as follows:

‘Sri Lanka has slumped to its worst financial crisis since independence from Britain in 1948’

In 1974, New York Times published as follows:

‘COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, May 6 — At dawn hundreds of people wait in bread lines. Elderly men and women pick through garbage. Thieves harvest vegetables and rice in the countryside.

Although the earth is bountiful in Sri Lanka, which was formerly Ceylon, the nation of 13 million has a critical food shortage. Moreover, it is going broke, jolted by inflation, torn by internal dissension and plainly alarmed about the future.

Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike, a tough politician and a Socialist, said recently that the economic crisis had “almost squeezed the breath out of us—we are literally fighting to survive.”

Mrs. Bandaranaike, who is the target of bitter attack, repeatedly pronounces a single, stark slogan for her nation: “Produce or perish.” - https://www.nytimes.com/1974/05/13/archives/sri-lanka-short-of-food-faces-an-economic-crisis-people-are-well.html

We Sri Lankans have already had the experience and therefore have the resilience to come out of this current crisis also.

The core purpose of the Sydney Morning Herald article is indicated through the following:

‘Now, as the south Asian country has hit rock bottom, the Australian cricket team has arrived for a Test and limited-overs series. It is the first time they have toured the island nation in six years, during which Sri Lanka has endured terrorist attacks, the COVID-19 pandemic and now an unprecedented economic disaster.

What kind of country will our cricketers be visiting? How bad is the crisis in Sri Lanka? And what lies ahead for the island nation?’

The first reason is presented as follows:

1.    A 26-year civil war raged between the Sri Lankan military and Tamil separatists until 2009

Why did the civil war happen? If it was civil war – it ought to have been between civilian communities. But by recognising that the war was between Sri Lankan military and the Separatists the author recognises it as a war between to governments. As a Sri Lankan that is how I also see it. Given that both were armed both sides were military. One official and the other de facto. They both found partners – in China and India respectively. Both were undemocratic and were headed by dictators. If not for that commonness – communal riots would not have mutated as war.

The war was an attraction to other nations looking for opportunities to infiltrate. That was how India and China invaded Sri Lanka.

2.    Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004 which left more than 30,000 dead

When man destroys himself killing each other becomes human nature of that community. Nature becomes such a group’s partner to balance itself. Relative to the civilians who died in the war the Tsunami deaths are insignificant and more acceptable to those who live close to nature.

3.    Easter Sunday bombings of 2019

This was apparently between Muslim rebels and Christians, indicating foreign involvement. Given that there has been no account by the government – it also has become ‘natural’ and in this instance globally natural. The global connection between cause and effect is confirmed as follows:

‘Classified as an upper-middle-income country as recently as 2019, when its foreign exchange reserves sat at $7.6 billion, it was effectively broke by April, with just $1.6 billion left.’

So what happened in 2019? In addition to the Easter bombings, the current President who became visible to the Public through the war against Tamil separatists was elected President, by the People. This meant that armed protection was the key issue for voters. They knew through experience that such a leader would also bring in money on the stated basis of fighting against terrorism escalated to global proportions. If the ‘cause’ was one-sided – i.e. by the separatists then the war was Administrative in nature, and there would have been no ‘victory-celebrations’ in relation to the war. Victory confirms external factor and hence the skills of the ‘defeated’ side is ‘lost’ to the ‘winning’ side.  Sri Lanka’s Killing Fields about the 2009 war atrocities was broadcast in November 2011. To the extent the global public identified with the victims’ pain as being that caused by the government, the claim of ‘victory over terrorism’ would have been reversed to the government. This eventually causes economic blockades at the government level, of democratic nations. In 2020, this President escalated the withdrawal to UN level by withdrawing commitment to UNHRC resolutions in war related issues. This meant that it was ready to leave the suppression of Tamil rights to nature.

This President took oaths at Buddhist shrine of Ruwanwelisaya and not at the Common Parliament.

New multicultural nations are developing ‘commonness’  through many pathways including anti-discrimination laws. Sri Lanka on the other hand, has a rich heritage of multiculturalism. The maintenance of this heritage requires each community to exercise its sovereignty within its circles. This is confirmed by any relativity being within that sovereign circle. The Sinhala only policy had the effect of damaging this heritage and thus damaged the sovereignty of the whole of Sri Lanka. The first constitution of Sri Lanka, by Sri Lankans, in 1972, included ‘Buddhism Foremost’ article which is confirmation of separatism. This meant that such a government lacked the moral authority to even discipline another ‘separatist’ group before disciplining itself.

In September 2021, this President in his address to the UN General Assembly, expressed his identity with the ‘Buddhists in Afghanistan’.

At that assembly, this President declared commitment to natural ‘farming’, presented as follows in the above mentioned article:

‘A sudden ban on chemical fertilisers in April 2021, sold as an ambitious transition to organic farming, saw a spiralling decline in output of rice and exports of tea, for which Sri Lanka is famous. By the time the ban was lifted in November, farmers were reeling.’

By effect, this President seems to have suppressed the irregularities of war – escalated by victims to UN level, by outlining the above commitment to ‘natural farming’. If true, it would not have collapsed in such a short period of months.

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka, May 6 — At dawn hundreds of people wait in bread lines.

Mrs. Bandaranaike, who is the target of bitter attack, repeatedly pronounces a single, stark slogan for her nation: “Produce or perish.”

The 1974 crisis happened  during the leadership of Mrs Bandaranaike, who included Buddhism Foremost Article in the 1972 constitution. One is entitled to conclude that it took 2 years for Sri Lankans to become true Buddhists which was confirmed by the austerity measures introduced by the then government. In 2019, the current leader showed in action, his commitment to Buddhism. If indeed it is true that Sri Lanka’s ‘foreign exchange reserves sat at $7.6 billion ‘ in 2019, and dwindled down to ‘$1.6 billion’ in April 2022, there has to be ‘common’ reason between the two crises. As per my understanding of the law of karma of every sovereign body, the past karma surfaces to support or block the pathway of that body. Unless therefore the causes of the 1974 crisis was addressed, it would continue to lead similar causes.

Leaders who ‘show’ commitment to Buddhism must anticipate economic poverty that goes with Buddhism. Those who experience Buddhism would consider it a blessing to be economically poor.  The leaders asked and they received. So what is the problem?

WHO IS TO BELL ARTICLE 9?

02 June 2022

Gajalakshmi Paramasivam

Does a law have  a mind? As per my discovery -  ‘yes, it is powered by the mind of the user/interpreter. Does the Constitution have a mind? – Yes it is powered exponentially, by the believer in the whole.

To be valid, every law, needs to be sovereign. How does one know that it is sovereign? If Sovereignty is represented by a circle (There is no beginning or end in the full circle),  the test is to cut it into two through its centre. Each of the two halves have beginning and end. Each half is relative.

What happens when laws are made – by those who do not believe in the whole but only a section – but claiming it to be applicable to the whole? – In terms of circles – if majority of say 80%  make a law applicable to the 100% (circle) it would not confirm Sovereignty.

As per my discovery the ‘other side’ of any action by such a maker exponentially benefits the section that believes in the whole but did not get to make the law.

Let us take for example Article 9 of the Sri Lankan Constitution, which states:

[9. The Republic of Sri Lanka shall give to Buddhism the foremost place and accordingly it shall be the duty of the State to protect and foster the Buddha Sasana, while assuring to all religions the rights granted by Articles 10 and 14(1)(e).

Articles 10 and 14(1)(e) state as follows:

10. Every person is entitled to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, including the freedom to have or to adopt a religion or belief of his choice.

14. (1) (e) Every citizen is entitled to –the freedom, either by himself or in association with others, and either in public or in private, to manifest his religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching;]

When one has ‘duty’ – there is a position. Where there is position, the power is relative and not sovereign.

As per the above – the government has the duty to protect Buddha Sasana (Philosophy and Practice of Buddhism). Hence that article disturbs the Sovereignty of the constitution. It also confuses the average citizen – as demonstrated recently by the conflict between the Governor of Northern Province and the Mayor of Jaffna who is also a lawyer. https://tamilwin.com/article/ariyakulam-wesak-jaffna-municipal-council-1653375625

As per News reports the Governor held the view that Buddhists were entitled to light Vesak lanterns along the big pond known as Ariya Kulam. But the Mayor had ruled that no religion based request would be entertained.

This is not only in breach of Article 9 but is also in breach of articles 10 and 14(1)(e) – which apply to all religious followers including Buddhists.

Then there was the interview with “Sri Lanka’s former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga on the crisis facing her country and, in particular, on her detailed proposals for changing the governance structure of Sri Lanka to tackle the serious political and economic crises it faces.” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7_Gq7lPGTc

During the interview, Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, confesses to being influenced by the ‘French Economic, Social and Environmental Council’. The protestors are could not work the existing laws that governments have made up to now. The above Buddhism Foremost Article was given birth to by Madam Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga’s mother, Mrs Sirimavo Bandaranaike, in 1972. No one since then, including Madam Kumaratunga, saw the imbalance in Article 9. A true Buddhist would have.

So, does such article have the capability of causing damage to the harmony of Sri Lanka? The answer as per my belief is ‘yes’.

It is often difficult for us to know the ‘ cause’ of our own actions. When we ‘see’ and/or know the causes we would make connections. But belief based causes are largely not known, until they manifest unpleasant effects. Until the current protests – we tended to accept the causal reasons by politicians and armed rebel leaders. The latter include a degree of ‘fear’ if we disagreed. This continues in Tamil areas and may be in South also  - as indicated by the violence on 09 May.

So, whatever the structure – would it fail due to Article 9? If yes, is Article 9 powered by an invisible independent force such as the Corona Virus?

As per the system of Karma, when our bodies ‘die’ we share our virtues and sins with our heirs – both physical and mental. When Lord Buddha attained ‘Nirvana’ believers automatically share in Buddha’s virtues. Nirvanam means naked in Tamil. As per my understanding Nirvana is ‘free’ of the physical. It is absolute power of the soul.

The question therefore arises as to whether article 9 is pathway to Nirvana? The Hindu parallel is Shiva aspect of the Holy Spirit. In Christianity it is Holy Spirit. In Buddhism as per Wikipedia:

[Buddham saranam gacchami.
I take refuge in the Buddha.
Dhammam saranam gacchami.
I take refuge in the Dharma.
Sangham saranam gacchami.
I take refuge in the Sangha.
]

Sangha, to my mind is the Spirit of the community.

Given that ‘foremost’ is relative, Sri Lankan Buddhist community is at ‘Buddha’ stage. This means it has its own definite identity. It is Brahma stage in Hinduism, and Father stage (physical relationship) in Christianity.

The problem with that is that the other side is automatically generated at the physical state – as in there being an Equal and Opposite reaction to every action. Hence whoever, under the influence of Buddhism acts to hurt another Sri Lankan, would automatically generate the Equal other force. If we do not know why (motivation) we have the duty to conclude the reason to be as per the relevant law.  In this instance Article 9. If Article 9 was desire-based – then its reaction would be fear-based, if left unaddressed.

Buddha renounced physical comforts of a Prince to beg for food. Any Buddhist who indulged in benefits above their needs – would therefore be punished by the reaction unless they surrender to Buddha. If they had  surrendered – they also would have joined the queues – instead of making speeches in Parliament and through the media.

Article 9, as per its timing  was an escape route from JVP armed rebels.  Until it remains – we would continue to be physically driven. The question is ‘who is to bell article 9?’

THE PROTESTS COMPLETED THE PICTURE

I feel satisfied that my contribution has gone ‘home’ towards protecting Sri Lanka’s National Carrier.

As per the article headed ‘SriLankan Airlines official to head Tourism Promotion Bureau?  - https://www.themorning.lk/srilankan-airlines-official-to-head-tourism-promotion-bureau/  :

[Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando suggested that an official from the SriLankan Airlines be appointed as the SLTPB Chairperson, since both the airlines and the bureau have to work “hand-in-hand” to promote the tourism industry.]

Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau – SLTPB – is part of Sri Lankan government. Hence the National Carrier has every right to be Sri Lankan owned.  I shared my feelings of ownership through the following articles:

USE AIRSPACE – DON’T SELL THE NATIONAL CARRIER https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/6863031047273509081/7908874622302848162

DOES THE PARLIAMENT BREAK-EVEN? https://www.blogger.com/blog/post/edit/6863031047273509081/6682638697002529875

Someone in or close to government must have been seeking and hence ‘found’ the truth. All that happens at Energy level. A true owner does not need ‘proof’. A true owner works through ‘indicators’. Hence Key Performance Indicators in Management.

At the level of the individual, the best contribution to governance is through one’s truth.

Saint Yoga Swami of Sri Lankan origin shared his discovery as follows:

எப்பவோ à®®ுடிந்த காà®°ியம் / The matter was completed long ago
நாà®®் à®…à®±ியோà®®் / We do not know
à®’à®°ு பொல்லாப்புà®®் இல்லை / There is no problem
à®®ுà®´ுதுà®®் உண்à®®ை / All of it is Truth

Of particular interest in the Sri Lankan context is - எப்பவோ à®®ுடிந்த காà®°ியம் / The matter was completed long ago

When the Truth within what happened is ‘free’ – the matter is completed. Hence the following in Yoga Swami’s song which begins with நல்லூà®°ான் திà®°ுவடி / Nalluraan Thiruvadi/ The Sacred Feet of Lord Nallur:

[தேவர் சிà®±ைà®®ீட்ட / the Redeemer of gods  from Prison;
செல்வன் திà®°ுவடிகள் / Holy Feet of that Divine-Child
காவல் எனக்காà®®ெடி – கிளியே / Protect Me Sweet Child  கவலையெல்லாà®®் போகுà®®ெடி  / Gone are all anxieties

As per my belief in Yoga Swami - the சிà®±ை/prison is what happened – surrounding the truth. Selvan is Child-Murugan who renounced all his parental wealth when He felt cheated and the prize went to His elder brother Ganesh.

In the Mango Legend – Ganesh – the elder brother demonstrates His belief that His parents were His world.  He goes around His parents and wins the prize mango (ticket to heaven) This is ancestral power.

Younger brother Murugan performs current work to go around the world  – which takes longer to complete and hence misses out on the ‘prize mango’. Murugan then renounces all parental wealth and establishes His own Empire on top of Palani Hill.

Yoga Swami says that Murugan’s Feet are his protection. To my mind – this means reliance on Current Work rather than belief in ancestral power – as Ganesh did. Yoga Swami who renouncing  his paid job, is the parallel of Murugan renouncing ancestral wealth.

In essence such renunciation is needed by juniors/minorities -  to become self-governing.

In a group – be it family, community or country – the most Sovereign person is the true leader. The apparent leader who fails in her/his duty to the position – becomes a misfit – and loses the protection of the position – as in parable ‘Emperor has no clothes’

In the current Sri Lankan context – when did the relationship between the Executive President and the voter get completed ? When the voter without portfolio (prison) discovers the Truth. When is it ‘seen’ at structural level? When the voter ‘freely’ expresses the discovery.

Then that Truth benefits the whole. à®®ுà®´ுதுà®®் உண்à®®ை / All of it is Truth.

This was confirmed by the report headed ‘Sri Lanka court suspends pardon to Rajapaksa aide Duminda Silva’

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2022/5/31/sri-lanka-court-suspends-pardon-for-rajapaksa-loyalist

[Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended a presidential pardon granted to a former legislator close to the Rajapaksa family convicted of murdering a rival politician and ordered his immediate return to jail in a landmark verdict, according to local media.

A three-judge bench asked the police to arrest Duminda Silva, a former member of parliament who was facing the death penalty for a 2011 murder but was freed last June after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa granted him an amnesty.]

I connect the force underpinning this change to be that of the genuine protestor/s without portfolio. They are the child who was not afraid to claim aloud that the Emperor was wearing no clothes.

It is true that Tamil civilians suffered due to indiscriminate attacks by government soldiers. But the community under fear of armed rebels was not ‘free’ to blame their own rebels’ contribution to the atrocities.

If indeed – the current President is a true war hero would his ‘subjects’ not absorb  the cost of that war – which contributed to the Economic meltdown? Until that truth is identified with and shared – we would continue to be a war-based economy.

EXECUTIVE PRESIDENCY AT GRASSROOTS LEVEL

31May 2022

Gajalakshmi Paramasivam

I smiled, watching the Sri Lankan news in which the working women at grassroots level called out to the President to come out if he was born to a single father and mother. As per the original known to me which is often used in Tamil cinema  - the saying is ‘if born to a single father’

The above is based on the chastity of the woman. The raw version is used by Sinhalese as well as Tamils. The structured version is ‘bastard’.

My belief in this was presented as follows to a group in which one member claimed:

‘Some songs are based on Sanga Kalam, lovers lamenting the loss of their men/Boyfriends who took to the sea during Chola's seafaring days, reaching far as Java, Sumatra, and Cambodia’

My response:

[[lovers lamenting the loss of their men/Boyfriends ]

“Missing is husband. Silappathikaaram is based on Kannaki and her husband and not lover/boyfriend. The position of husband is filled by the dedication of the woman not only to satisfying the needs and desires of the man currently holding the position, but must represent all women who were true their position as ‘wife’ – i.e. the Common wife. Kannaki did not deny Kovalan when he returned from Lover Mathavi. Thus Kannaki accumulated the Energy of Common wife. Hence when Kannaki claimed that Her husband was not a thief – that Energy burnt Madurai. In essence – every holder of a position needs to respect all predecessors in that position to be true to that position.

More importantly, if we are taking a position in the new structure of Eelam – Tamils -  through emphasis on Tamil language being foremost, then we need to renounce benefits and opportunities from Sri Lankans, Australians, British etc. When we are true to that position the truth would merge us with all Tamils – past as well as current. To be Eelam Tamil, one has to live within that position – and the benefits it brings. In all countries that have listed LTTE as terrorists – we have to live with that status and no more. That is true Sovereignty.”

The structured version of the above challenge is for ‘whether the President was true to those who created the Executive Presidency?’

As per my experience I was more ‘free’ of Financial pressures after 1978 when the position of Sri Lankan President was formed through a new Constitution. This meant that it is a structure that would lead me to financial prosperity. It also led to me emigrating from Sri Lanka. But I took the value of my true work with me. Hence I was able to realise financial independence.

If therefore, Sri Lanka goes back to Parliamentary system those who prospered under Executive Presidency may not be able to work that structure.

When the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was passed by Parliament – the current PM was leader of the Parliamentary team. An elected member will naturally connect to other elected members who came in through the same Process.

The parallel of that on time basis is the time based team of all those who were in that position previously.

Mr Wicremesinghe was appointed as Prime Minister. The President’s authority flows from article 43(3) of the Constitution:

“43 (3) The President shall appoint as Prime Minister the Member of Parliament who in his opinion is most likely to command the confidence of Parliament.”

The President has failed to confirm that the Parliament has confidence in Mr Ranil Wickremesinghe. Hence the appointment is in breach of the provisions of the Constitution.  Instead, the President relied on Mr Wickremesinghe having held and performed in that position without recording any breaches of the law.

As per Financial Times report ‘Ranil’s road map to political reforms’:

  • In special statement, PM unveils proposals to strength Parliament, reduce Executive power
  • PM says reintroduction of 19A, abolition of Executive Presidency are two main political issues
  • Opines Parliament paralysed due to weakening of powers after 20A
  • Says methodology towards abolition of Executive Presidency must be decided by party leaders
  • Moots appointment of several new committees to give Parliament more powers on public finance

The last on the above list has been foreshadowed by the PM as follows:

[Wickremesinghe said the youth are calling for a change in the existing system and to facilitate this, he proposed the appointment of four youth representatives to each of these 15 committees. “One of them will be appointed by the Youth Parliament. The other three will be from the protesting groups and other activist groups. The methodology used to choose these individuals can be decided by the youth organisations themselves,” he said.]
This however needs the approval of the constitution as it exists now. On the other hand, he as the Finance Minister would have the authority to Appoint such persons through Administrative processes.

At Parliamentary level – one believes and votes on the issue. In Administration – one uses laws made as per that belief and not as per one’s personal belief. To introduce such a system would have the effect of disrespecting the Pain of the People who elected this government. It is by experiencing the pain that we learn not to repeat mistakes. The simple theory is – no pain no gain.

When votes are ‘bought’ – the voter becomes the Executive.  It is the parent depending on the child

PEOPLE MIRRORING THE GOVERNMENT

The Sri Lankan protestors seemed ‘free’ to express themselves. It was like a natural Political Drama – showing the Government what it looks like. This kind of protesting is not limited to government. It happens at all levels of Sri Lankan society due to conflict between autocracy and democracy within the same mind.

The Canberra Times report headed ‘Sri Lanka PM urges protesters to join govt’ informs as follows:

[Sri Lanka's prime minister says protesting youth groups will be invited to be part of governance under political reforms he is proposing to solve the country's political crisis triggered by an economic collapse.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that under proposed constitutional reforms, powers of the president will be clipped and those of parliament strengthened.]

This brings to mind a sharing by an academic about his discovery based on the Australian University system. He stated that the Union leader who ‘opposed’ the Administration, became like the Administration, once he became one part of the Management.

As per the report :

[The youth are calling for a change in the existing system. They also want to know the current issues. Therefore, I propose to appoint four youth representatives to each of these 15 committees," Wickremesinghe said.

Protesters consisting of mainly young people have camped out outside the president's office for more than 50 days.

They're demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, holding him and his family responsible for the country's worst economic crisis.]

The Parliament represents the highest level of institutional structure of a Nation. In Sri Lanka, election is largely through a democratic process. But the way the Parliament operated was through autocracy. Transparency of outcomes is a key feature of Democracy. This is the Opposite of Confidential voting. In reliable Autocracy  the outcomes produced by juniors are kept ‘Confidential’ but the process is made transparent – for example -  only the Parliament showing the  nation  to the Public taken as a whole and also to outsiders. In the case of the Rajapaksas ‘Confidentiality’ became Secrecy when it was not shared with the  Parliament – but only with family members. True Sri Lankans had knowledge of bribes and commissions ‘taken’ by those in governments. But so long as they had a share of economic wealth they did not ‘Oppose’ the respective governments. The Pandora Papers revealed  many ‘secret’ wealth by Political leaders. But there was no outcome produced within Sri Lanka, of a local process. Those who believe in Accountability of global standards would have found it to be of value but not so those who believe in ‘local’ measures.

Sri Lanka’s permanent political Opposition is the Tamil Community to whom Sri Lanka (not Eelam Tamil) is ‘home’. The protestors have not recognised this for the same reason they did not demonstrate when the Pandora Papers were made public. Their experience based measure was their own People’s pain.

The ‘freedom’ from fear of  military action was needed by the protestors. Without that the only way they would know to protest has been proven to be armed rebellion. The Tamil civilians killed in the war do not have a direct civilian representation. Those who seek to highlight their suffering seem to need the LTTE name to render them courage.  It makes them ‘juniors’ in civil administration – to those who oppose knowing they are not likely to ‘win’. It is that courage that brings the support of wider world and/or ancestral blessings.

The protestors are taken as De facto Opposition of the government.  The conversation below within the Tamil community confirms the challenges  faced by unarmed Tamils:

Gaja   in article headed LABOR SAYS ‘COME BY BOATS’:

‘To the extent the Sri Lankan Tamil community ‘takes’ compensation for their pain – they weaken their ‘intuitive intelligence’ about Sri Lanka as a whole. Some of the Tamil students I teach demonstrate much higher level of intelligence and keenness than I had at their age, in a more comfortable environment.’

Dr Nadesan :  Gaja, I beg you not to teach tamil students if you really do. Where do you teach, in Australia or Thunaivi? If so I pray for their safety. Now coming to Biolela family, you unnecessarily and with your inherent trouble making mindset trying to call it "favouring the Tamil". This kind of nonsense is ingrained in you. This family's case became an Australian issue with the entire white community fighting tooth and nail for them to be accepted. I always felt it was not legally right but certainly on a humanitarian basis. The two charming kids caught the attention of not only Australians but the entire world as well. When I mentioned "charming kids", you at once jumped as to whether your grand kids are not charming. This clearly shows your thinking ability and analytical skills. A case of this type with global publicity will naturally attract the politicians too and for your biased tunnel vision this looks unusual. And I am not surprised about you. Only thing you did not come out with your usual cry is that they are LTTE guys. Now you understand why you dont receive  any responses for your letters from government. For heavens sake dont write your irresponsible out bursts to ruin this familys future.

Dr 'Kandiah Suntharamoorthy' : Well said Nada, agree fully with your view

Gaja :All those who agree with Dr Nadesan would naturally become my Opposition. Hence I do not have to read your ‘reasoning’ but know that the distance between us is getting  wider and wider. There is no relationship and that is what happened in Sri Lanka where we did not invest in commonness that does not give us ‘benefits’.  By the way – to those who are interested – the Tamil students I referred to are from Jaffna and Kandy – studying at Royal College.  They surprised my husband also – to the extent he quietly observed and enjoyed the experience.

Dr Nadesan :Gaja there you are and your mindset. So according to you if someone does not agree with your views then he / she is your enemy. This is why I told you not to teach the students and ruin their lives. Going by what you say you are against the entire world except Param. Poor Param has simply no choice and he has to survive like how so many survived Rajapakshas tyranny. So Param being happy with your "teachings", one cannot accept it. More than that tell me when he disagreed with you🥱🤭. By the way what is this Royal College you are referring to? Or Jaffna Royal Tuition Centre down hospital road? எல்லாà®®் à®’à®°ு à®®ாயை ( all just illusion). Gaja you must learn to listen to others and see both sides of the coin and then see how you brighten up.

The above is an example of intolerance of Opposition.  I expressed my belief as a Common citizen of Australia and Sri Lanka – using Australian structure – Common to all refugees . The laws are neither Australian nor Sri Lankan. They are global. Had I taken my place as allocated by the leaders – who have been openly recognised for their Sri Lankan qualifications and positions – I would have been ‘accommodated’ by them. By opposing them I have been demoted to ‘junior-most’ level and am being ‘told’ who I am!

If the protestors join the Parliament – they would also be ‘told’ by those who are used to being seniors. A protestor has to be ‘free’ of institutional  desires. Towards this – they need to be ‘facilitated’ to protest peacefully outside the Parliament and  independent of the  Parliament. In due course time they would need to ‘follow’ due processes to become part of the institution of Parliament on ‘merit’ basis.

The above proposal by Mr Wickremesinghe is the parallel of the ‘quota’ system /Standardization Policy that Mrs Bandaranaike introduced for University Entrance in 1972. It was interpreted by Tamils as a way to suppress their opportunities.  It seems like a band-aid fix to ‘show’ wider world.
