Gajalakshmi Paramasivam

SIGNIFICANCE OF VESAK

Dr . S.B.Asoka Dissanayake directed us to his blog http://parafox-asoka.blogspot.com/2024/05/peace-to-all-beings-in-this-world-and.html

I responded as follows:

Thank you and happy Vesak to all believers.   You state:

[It was late Laxmen Kadiragarmen who proposed to the United Nation that Buddhism should be recognized as a World religion.]

Lakshman Kadirgamar was a Christian. He was also a National list MP like Ranil. The fundamental power of an appointed MP is to represent minorities whose intelligence is often overridden by majority who are pampered by handouts. This limits their ownership to possession level. In Sri Lanka, belief by possession is confirmed when such possession is unbroken over 10 years. Otherwise, ownership by law applies. You have the duty to apply the intellectual measure as Lakshman Kadirgamar was a Tamil Christian and you are a Sinhala Buddhist. Unless you openly oppose majority, you would be part of majority.

As per Wikipedia report:

He played a significant role in having the  LTTE banned internationally. The United States and the United Kingdom proscribed the LTTE on 8 October 1997 and 28 February 2001 respectively, thereby depriving that organisation of a primary source of funding.’

The LTTE was driven by its belief. They killed and were ready to be killed. Their pathway was physically driven and they, like  practised reverse caste discrimination.  This is the way of Truth when injustice is left unaddressed.

As per Wikipedia report:

His funeral was held according to Buddhist rites, but one of the speakers was the Anglican bishop of Colombo.

This confirms that his life was taken over by majority and that he failed the position of foreign minister, to globalise Sri Lanka. Lord Buddha became Universal, through Truth. Lord Buddha did not need any external body to endorse  him.  This Sovereign value is being celebrated today, as Vesak by all those who are true to themselves.

Regards

Gaja
