CASTE IN VADDUKODDAI

Is caste a current problem in Sri Lanka?

This question was raised through the UN also according to BBC report at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCKVCuPh8s4

The BBC report specifically focused on Vaddukoddai. Given my contribution to that area, I rejected it at first. Then I was reminded of its existence by a Facebook posting by Ms Rani Sinnathamby, daughter of our celebrated family elder Mr Karthigesan  (known as Communist Karthigesan). In that posting Ms Sinnathamby gave credit to the family of Yohananda Sabanathan – son of Mrs Saraswathi Sabanathan who is my husband’s sister. Rani stated that they had all gathered to celebrate the festival of Sangarathai Pathrakali Amman temple. Published also was a family photo taken at Rani’s daughter Sinothaya’s new home. After that event Rani said to us that ‘blood was thicker than water’.

In the chapter headed ‘UNTOUCHABILITY’ in my book Different Logics, I wrote as follows:

Thunaivi is an independent village of Toddy Tapper / Nalavar caste origin. In terms of hierarchical status, toddy tapping work ranked low and hence the Nalavar caste ranked low in the caste based hierarchy.  My father bought a temple at the cusp of Thunaivi and Sangarathai. Sangarathai is a farmer-caste village. My Aachi / grandmother took care of the temple. My parents inherited the tiny temple and I have inherited the temple from my parents. With the exception of Rani Karthigesan Sinnathamby, none of Param’s family come there due to caste based separation. Rani herself inherited the sense of  Commonness from her father who is remembered and celebrated as an English teacher at Jaffna Hindu College. He is known as Communist Karthigesan. We are now effectively low class citizens in Vaddukoddai, Northern Sri Lanka. But I feel that Mr Karthigesan lives with us in Thunaivi, as our Elder. Our living there has freed us from negative caste based karma which also mutated as Racism, after the expiry of  ‘correct by’ date.’

It was therefore upsetting when Rani stated that ‘blood was thicker than water’.  If that were true, I would have celebrated my side of the family and not Param’s side which Rani was part of. Param’s sister wrote to us that she did not have to account for funds collected from the estate of her brother – because my husband was her ‘blood brother’. This is our family parallel of the Rajapaksa family. This is also the source of caste based discrimination.

As per the article ‘UN report highlights caste-based discrimination in SL’ at https://www.ft.lk/article/533194/UN-report-highlights-caste-based-discrimination-in-SL  :

The report by the Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues Rita Izsak-Ndiaye specifically mentions Sri Lanka in two paragraphs, which describe varying caste structures in Sinhala, Tamil and Up-Country Tamil communities and the types of social exclusion lower castes in each group face.

The report notes that despite differences in caste structure between ethnic groups, a commonality of experience exists between lower castes of all ethnic groups including “ the avoidance of inter-caste marriage and the link between lower castes and greater levels of poverty”. In an official address at the Human Rights Council Izsak-Ndiaye said that she decided to base this year’s report on caste following information she received regarding “incidents of discrimination in caste-based and analogous systems of inherited status”.

A scathing response by the Sri Lankan Government bashed the report claiming factual inaccuracies while stating that the term Dalit has“no relevance whatsoever in the context of Sri Lanka”……………..

Sri Lankan anti-caste activist and University of Peradeniya Professor Kalinga Tudor Silva told the Daily FT that neither the UN report nor the response by the Sri Lankan Government was reflective of the situation on the ground.

Noting the contention between the report and the Sri Lankan Government, Silva mediated: “In the contested two paragraphs in the UN report, caste is correctly identified as a continuing social problem in Sri Lanka as have also been reported by a number of researchers working on caste here. However, the use of the term Dalit which is typically used to identify the social outcastes in India is not used in Sri Lanka.”

“The continuing caste problems in Sri Lanka relate to dignity, social exclusion and
continued social recognition of hereditary social distinctions rather than due to any explicit coercion from above to carry out hereditary caste occupations as stated in the relevant paragraphs in the UN report,” explained Silva.’

The blood connection is the lay person’s version of ‘hereditary social distinctions’ used by Professor Kalinga Tudor Silva.

As per my discovery, through life in Thunaivi, caste alone is harmless. It needs to be combined with breach of an accepted merit based system to cause real damage. In our family testamentary case – that system was/is Thesawalamai law which also include caste as merit in earlier versions. As I kept stating to our lawyer, seeking to ‘win’ – to me the Court Proceedings was Memorial Service in honour of the deceased. But our opponents – the sisters of the deceased lied in court that they did not get dowry. This resulted in the court ruling that the Estate was to be shared equally. This was in breach  of  Thesawalami law. But due to us continuously challenging the Court process, the Sri Lankan part of the Estate is yet to be distributed. The UK part that was distributed without an account, on the basis of blood relationship will cause conflict within the Vaddukoddai community in UK who seek current benefits from caste. The BBC report is such a trigger. At the family level two siblings who supported Mrs Sambanthan in court have passed away. We have opposed the substitution of their children on the basis that the High Court ruled that the succession is on ‘per-capita’ basis and not on ‘stirpes’ basis.

On Easter Sunday, we held a memorial service within the Development secretariat so this Brother Yoganathan’s soul would merge with the Universal Spirit of Truth.

Brother Moorthi was the only ‘relative’ to attend. Even though the Sabanathan family – the so-called Blood Relations were attending festival (according to Rani) of the Sangarathai Pathrakali Amman temple just a few hundred meters from our temple they were not at the Memorial Service.

This effectively divided the Vaddukoddai part of our family on caste basis. Would not have happened if the cultural law of gratitude had been followed or if the heritage law of Thesawalamai had not been breached by the sisters who double-dipped into the common wealth. This will happen to all those who did treat the junior-castes as lower castes. When a junior is cheated by a senior, the junior becomes an outsider and hence the armed rebellions in Northern and Southern Sri Lanka. Where the junior is ungrateful to the senior who has provided ‘service’ that has benefited the junior, the standard of ethics of the group that the junior belongs to goes down. That is the way of Natural Justice. So I wrote on Rani’s page of Facebook against the positing with Mrs Sabanathan and her son Yohanantha’s family as follows: - (note Sivam is my husband who has been  known as Param after he entered university)

  • If not for me and my husband this family would not be in Australia today. But they cheated us of that higher status and have been separated by us due to their desire for money. Sivam and I have never been celebrated by you also Rani on Face Book. As you said recently we relate to each other differently. As my cousin Kathiravel Anna said to Sivam when Sivam said to him about my goodness, 'one should not say good or bad about one family member to another.' This is because one is free to form her/his opinion within the family. We never influenced you or anyone else for or against this family. But in action you and your branch of the family have shown that you prefer this group as family above us. Good to learn that we are less than this group’

The posting by Rani with the family photograph and the responses is now missing. I thanked Brother Yoganathan for the lesson learnt about how the caste virus returns to the true owners if it is not able to mutate as Racism if it is not cured within its birth electorate. When the Sri Lankan government addresses race based discrimination, it automatically addresses the original caste virus also. The Sri Lankan government has the right to apply the principles of res judicata to diffuse the UN allegations of casteism. Tamils who continue to effectively practice the caste system weaken their eligibility to use UN resources for race discrimination actions’. This ought to have been recognized by the fact that majority in the Tamil armed rebellion groups were of junior caste. Now all Tamils who accept their rule have the opportunity to practice reverse discrimination, facilitate the junior caste to become even. That is the internal measure available to us.

DIPLOMATIC NUMBER 9

‘The United States has had more mass shootings than any other country.’ The moral authority of Americans is relative to this scientific judgment.

As per ‘the Morning’ report headed ‘Anti-Terror Bill: US Envoy calls for ‘extensive’ public, P’ment debate’:

‘United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung has called for ‘extensive’ public and Parliamentary discussions on the proposed Anti-Terrorism Bill, which is to be introduced to repeal the controversial Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act (PTA).’

As per the ‘alert’ by the Ambassador’s office, earlier this month:

‘Event: Reports indicate the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF) plans to hold a demonstration march starting from Lipton Circus moving towards the University Grants Commission at Ward Place (Colombo 7) at 2 PM today (Monday, April 3, 2023).  Approximately 1,000 people are expected to participate.

Even peaceful demonstrations can quickly turn confrontational and escalate into violence.  Avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and exercise caution when in the vicinity of large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.

Actions to Take:

  • Avoid areas of rallies or demonstrations.
  • Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
  • Monitor local media for updates.
  • Keep a low profile.

The above alert confirms how Americans feel about the security situation in Sri Lanka. It is a suggestion and not a law.

The current reality in Sri Lanka is that the masses would feel that they ‘dismissed’ the previous government. As per the principle of ‘sovereignty’  Sri Lankans are entitled to listen to their own personal god. The challenge facing us is that we have not given ‘form’ to that god, Common to all Sri Lankans. Our laws are pathways leading to that common god. Foremost amongst the laws is our constitution. The strongest challenge in this is the ‘Buddhism foremost’ article. While the wording in this article is relative and therefore discriminatory, the number 9 is favourable.

In Maths, if 9 is added to a number and the numbers are added within to  bring them to a single digit, 9 takes them back to their original single digit value. If  the individual digits in 208 are added they give an answer of 1. When 9 is added to 208, it becomes 2089. The single digit total of this also is 1. 9 is therefore a catalyst that influences outcomes but does not participate in the change itself. One could refer to it as the Diplomatic number

In Hinduism this is presented as follows:

‘The number 9 is revered in Hinduism and considered a complete, perfected and divine number because it represents the end of a cycle in the decimal system, which originated from the Indian subcontinent as early as 3000 BC.’ – Wikipedia

The Buddhism foremost order  was article 6 in the 1972 constitution. This 6 represented brawn power of all 5 senses and surface memory. This is the natural heritage from King Dutugemunu who was a war lord and a devotee of Kathirgama Murugan with 6 faces who decaled independence from His parents. In the case of King Dutugemunu, it was from India – as represented by Tamil King Ellalan. In the case of Mrs Bandaranaike, it was from the British.

It helped override armed rebellion in Southern Sri Lanka where the government needed an armed Opposition to JVP rebels.

When the 1978 Constitution was developed the need of the government headed by President J R Jayawardene was to go commercial. This in principle was anti-Buddhist. So Buddhism foremost became article renumbered itself to article 9.  This made Buddhism a heritage with karmic values. Like 9 it confirmed the end of a cycle. Anyone who respects Buddhism is blessed with positive Energy and anyone who profited from it was cursed. Curses,  like covid are exponentially negative in value. It was this that dethroned the Buddhist President who benefitted from the armed the war. Had this president shown ‘Hindu Foremost’ in war, he would have retired after the war – as King Dutugemunu did.

When we believe, we are supported by the power of the Absolute. When we disrespect another’s belief, we invoke exponential negative power.

Until today, I thought and recommended intellectually on the basis of Equal Opportunity principles. This morning I listened to my Canadian cousin’s speech at https://sathyasaiyugam.blogspot.com/2020/05/blog-post.html?m=1 . Priya mentions her first book ‘Ruby Garland’ dedicated to her Guru Sai Baba. I recalled the time when Priya was getting ready to take the book to be blessed by Swami Sathya Sai Baba. I was not a devotee then, but I appreciated Priya’s dedication. I gave her my special pen with which Swami Sathya Sai Baba would  sign her book. Priya later confirmed that Swami signed the book with that pen. I did read the book after it was published. In that Priya has written about the divine power of 9. Hence my identity with article 9’s significance. Back then, I was not a writer. I feel today that I was initiated by Swami Sathya Sai Baba, into public writing back then itself.

This year in Northern Sri Lanka, our former gardener Rathinam visited us. He sang parts a Hindu legend. The lines in essence meant :

‘Thaan undathu mann undathu; mann undathu (food consumed by the self goes to earth)

Pirrar undathu Sivan undathu (food given to others is consumed by Lord Shiva).

When we non-Buddhists share our wisdom with Buddhists, Buddha himself consumes our work and enlightens us about Buddhist philosophy.

Article 9 teaches us how to be a successful  Opposition to govern the whole as a minority, believing in the whole.

LANDLESS SRI LANKAN

The President said that we had two ‘E’ problems. One Ethnic and the other Economic. Are they in fact two sides of the same issue? A Sri Lankan professional commented about the ‘Common President’ article that he found it ‘Very interesting’. I stated ‘As you wrote, it is about seeking and matching the debits & credits.’

The professional then asked me ‘A personal question. Is Ramayana an epic poem or a factual story?

I responded as follows:

‘I grew up with Ramayanam & Mahabaratham due to my mother. Never questioned whether it was factual. Given that fact leads to philosophy, it did not matter. When it worked for me, I knew it was true. Truth is fact without body. Once a White academic said to me that Jesus was not factual. But to me Jesus is true. As I quoted before if you see the stone you do not see god and v.v.

There is evidence that the Ramayana events did happen in Sri Lanka. Ravana was clever. Hence I am not surprised about the flying chariot. If Vishnu had to take Rama Avatharam it was because Ravana was exceptionally clever. But he was also an Asuran – one driven by brawn power. To him desiring another’s wife was natural. There are many such politicians during our times also. This weakens divine powers that we are capable of. Eventually it is about ‘Common Ownership.’ The closest I can think of in our profession is Goodwill.’

When we believe it is a legend. Otherwise it is myth. If we believe that we Sri Lankans are ‘One Nation’ we already are One. If like Pauline Hanson we say ‘go to your origin’  we are living in a country. Pauline Hanson lives in a country and not a nation. Likewise, ‘Sinhala only’ Sinhalese and ‘Tamil only’ Tamils in Sri Lanka who proudly call themselves ‘Nationalists’. A nationalist ‘owns’ the stated. Sinhala only Nationalist owns Sinhala part. Likewise, Tamil Eelam claimants.  If both are true, they will naturally oppose each other. When stated in Common area – Colombo, they would both collude to Oppose the Common Sri Lankan who seems to be landless. Given that the electorate is recognised through  land , votes represent ownership tickets. The current Sri President did not get elected due to being landless.

To the extent other nations treated us as Sri Lankans, they needed a common representative to recognise leadership. Hence the natural connection with IMF.

The other interesting cause is autocracy. The Rajapaksas were naturally autocratic. In autocracy, which is time based, one inherits power from previous rulers within the group. In democracy, which is place based, one shares laterally. Those who go back in time confirm autocracy. Hence they automatically oppose democracy. Those who use their current investments become Democratic and their power naturally opposes autocracy. Global minded Sri Lankans who distance themselves from Communal Nationalists, would naturally contribute to Democracy.

Those who fail to respect the system they practice, in a ‘free’ environment become their own opposition. Hence, those who come to power through Democratic process, but practice autocracy, lose the power of democracy.

Autocracy practiced through law, is regulated and therefore limits the ‘free’ use of power. Wars without laws would show us who we are. As per the Ethnic armed war, both confirmed that they are Asuras. Both groups identified with Ravana.

Currently there is Opposition to Anti Terrorism Act (ATA) is a plan that would oppose the minds of those members of Parliament who are likely to influence violence. The ‘Buddhism Foremost’ article in the Constitution is its Grandparent.  It was introduced in 1972, after the JVP insurrection in 1971.

PTA – Prevention of Terrorism Act was introduced after the 1977 riots in Multicultural parts of Sri Lanka. This confirmed that  the 1978 Constitution was not written through belief. It was to impress the West. Hence the need for PTA – the parent of ATA.

The following ‘judgment by Human Rights watch confirms ignorance of  Sri Lankan reality.

“President Wickremesinghe’s use of antiterrorism legislation to lock up people peacefully calling for reform sends a chilling message to Sri Lankans that rights won’t get priority during his administration,” said Meenakshi Ganguly, South Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “The president’s suppression of dissent at home flies in the face of his pledges to allies abroad.”

https://www.hrw.org/news/2022/08/31/sri-lanka-end-use-terrorism-law-against-protesters

One needs ownership in the problem that manifested itself through genuine protestors. When we own the measure / the law through which we are seeking a solution, that solution would work itself.

Ms Meenakshi Ganguly may believe in the law, but it is clear that the lady lacks ownership of Sri Lanka as well as its problem. The lady’s moral authority limits her to observer status.

Mr Ranil Wickremesinghe was ‘appointed’ by his predecessor in that position. Hence it is his duty to be autocratic until he earns his position through current merit. Given that the People voted for Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa after the war, one is entitled to conclude that their war-actions are their true and natural laws. If this were to manifest again we can bid goodbye to the IMF facilities. Like Budgets, laws are plans and not actuals. Those who do not protest against the grandparent - ‘Buddhism foremost’ article have no authority to protest against the birth of the grandchild – ATA.

‘Buddhism foremost’ article is now an Elder in Sri Lankan law.  Only a Sri Lankan elder who has continuously protested Truthfully and Peacefully against its inclusion in the Constitution has the power to diffuse this bomb. Once the origin is diffused, the grandchild would naturally lose consciousness of the Elder who promoted separation. Like money, brawn also separate. This is confirmed by our physical structure in which the senses are separate and not common.

THE COMMON PRESIDENT

During my time at the University of New South Wales, the chancellors – Sir Anthony Mason , followed by Dr John Yu  responded to my communications from time to time. Once Mr Tony Blair  responded when he was British Prime Minister. None of them produced the outcomes expected by me. But all of their positions facilitated me to find my own solutions towards self-governance. In turn, my energy would have empowered them to be self-governing at their levels.

Each time someone responds genuinely to my work, I feel completion. Today, when my husband handed over the letter addressed to me, from the Sri Lankan Presidential Secretariat, I felt happy. It was a ‘thank you’ letter for the book ‘Different Logics’ -  made in Australia and published in Sri Lanka. When there is no response from within or expressly from outside  I conclude that we are separating. The inner response is from the person and/or position I have invested in. We refer to them as the indwellers of the heart. They come to us naturally from within. From time to time, when there are no takers, and I have invested in the position, the ‘position’ takes it. That is the way of truth.

In addition to the completion by the position of President of Sri Lanka, I received the following response from a Sri Lankan professional, to my article ‘MONKEY CITIZENSHIP BILL?

‘Historically this may be coblnsidered as revenge taking. According to Ramayana, Rama and his monkey brigade invaded Lankapuri and waged war against King Ravana, an ardent Shiva worshiper and a great musician for abducting Rama's wife Sita. The war ended with killing Ravana and taking back Sita. In fact the monkey brigade was formed from South India and they built the stone causeway to Lankapuri. Some say that they used floating stones. The latter are still around that are formed from volcanic action with trapping of air thus they float.

So there is a historic dislike for monkeys in SL and thus the proposed expected expatriation to China. Sri Lanka hit two mangoes with one stone; taking revenge and making dollars. Whether those dollars will come to SL is another matter. I am sure it will be a typical monkey business. Now it is revealed that the compensation for the burnt ship has gone into a private account in London.

Now hanuman is a powerful god in India and it has become popular in SL too. Hindus of course dont spare any animals. But the problem is about exporting peacocks too. Peacock is Lord Muruga's vehicle. But on the other hand Muruga is also called Kataragama Deiyo by Buddhist and he is very powerful among them, immaterial who owned Muruga originally. So this peacock  business may hurt the Buddhists of SL too but what matters most for them is the money. So we have to wait and see how hanumans and Lord Muruga are going to deal with our Sinhala Buddhist brothers. And let  historians and enlightened clergy to first draw a demarcation line between hinduism and its endless Gods and Sinhala Buddhism, a new concept that is neither here or there. We all know how Kali Amma let down Gota and Thirupathiyan let down King Mahinda.’

I responded as follows:

Thank you, for that highly intelligent analysis. I learnt today about the ‘floating stones’ from you. I feel strongly that that part of Ramayanam confirms the scientific wisdom of Indians. Another example is Ravana’s flying chariot. My cousin who was a clever engineer (xxx would know him as Duraipillai’s son Billy) took me to Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram and demonstrated his appreciation of the symmetry of the pillars – admiring the perfection achieved during ancient times. It has a thousand-pillared hall . We have one in Sri Lanka also.

You highlight:

[So there is a historic dislike for monkeys in SL and thus the proposed expected expatriation to China]

Whether it is like or dislike – if we benefit from it now, it naturally invokes its other side exponentially – as happened with covid. It is the Pandora’s box syndrome. Hence my opposition.

[Whether those dollars will come to SL is another matter]

If they come, they will oppose US led IMF money. If they don’t come it is an eye for an eye. The latter is the reason why Rajapaksas did not go to IMF.

[Kali Amma let down Gota and Thirupathiyan let down King Mahinda]

Kali Amma is the goddess of Asuras who live through the physical and die with dignity. Gota’s army killed LTTE and LTTE in turn worked through Tamil Ravana intelligence to dethrone Gota prematurely. As for Mainda, his Thirupathy is at Dehiwela. When given in India, the money goes to Indians. That is the rule of Sovereignty.  LTTE Prabhakaran who brought King Mahinda to power, sent his heir Subaskaran Allirajah to India to collect the charity on behalf of  MGR who funded LTTE as well as donated to Thirupathy.  Alliraja produces meaningless but expensive films – like the Sri Lankan war. It’s a perfect settlement from which Americans learnt lessons and funded Aragalaya followed by the IMF.

MONKEY CITIZENSHIP BILL?

As per my experience based observation, the human brain receives information at different levels. In a free mental environment, the mind reveals the true reception. Hence transparency is essential in Democracy.

During a ‘free’ discussion of my article headed , one professional wrote ‘Unfortunately those Sri Lankan monkeys most suited for recruitment have left the country’

My mind then went to Sirima-Shastri Pact, about which  Wikipedia presents the following:

‘During the British rule, Tamils from Tamil Nadu were recruited to work in tea, coffee and coconut plantations of Ceylon. Due to continuous recruitment and population growth, of Indian Tamils constituted 13.5 percent (602,700) of the total population in 1921. By 1936, Indian Tamils numbered 1,123,000, 15.3 percent of the total population in 1936, and many of them were non-citizens of Ceylon.

Sinhalese nationalists resented the growth of the Tamil population and pressured the government to send them back to India. Therefore the government introduced the Ceylon Citizenship Bill. The act came into force in 1948, and it granted citizenship to about 5,000 Indian Tamils. However, more than 700,000 people (about 11%) were either non-citizens of Ceylon or became stateless. Pakistani

The above confirms that Sinhala Nationalists habitually distrusted Tamils, who remind them of majority power of Tamil Nadu, once one disregards sovereign borders.

The proposed monkey-export to China is the parallel of the above on the stated basis that they, like the Indian-Tamils have become dispensable. As per Ceylon Today report:

‘The decision of the Minister of Agriculture to export 100,000 toque monkeys stirred a debate as to the ultimate purpose of such export together with concerns as to whether it is done in accordance with the law and necessary assessments.

According to Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera, 100,000 toque monkeys will be exported to China to be displayed in zoos. This is in an effort to control the monkey population in Sri Lanka and with a view to reducing damage caused by the animals to cultivations.

However, no assessment of any kind has been conducted in this regard thus far. “Even the operations of the committee appointed last year to prepare a report regarding crop damage caused by animals was stalled as certain continuous requests made by the researchers were not complied with,” he said.

Senior Environmental Lawyer Dr. Jagath Gunawardana, commenting on the decision on social media, observed that although various sources indicate that the number of sub-species of monkeys in Sri Lanka is from 2 to 6, according to the book ‘Sri Lankan Primates’ published in 2012 containing the research report published by J. Fooden in the scientific journal ‘Primates’ in 1979, there are only two sub-species. They are ‘Macaca sinica sinica’ which is mainly found in the dry region and Macaca sinica aurifrons

Monkeys in Sri Lanka are not protected by law due to which even the killing of monkeys who damage crops is not considered illegal. He added that under such circumstances, toque monkeys could only be exported following obtaining a permit in accordance with Section 40 of the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance. According to this section, such permit shall not be issued except for the promotion of scientific knowledge including supplies to foreign museums, foreign zoological gardens in exchange for supplies to local museums or local zoological gardens.

Thereby, monkeys could be exported to China or any other country zoos or museums upon such request. He emphasised also that in many countries including Japan, monkeys are bred within the zoo for generations, adding thereby that the purpose behind the decision to export monkeys should be examined.’

As per my reading of the section this is a hasty conclusion, blinded by desire. Section 40 (2) of the ordinance states as follows:

‘Such permit shall not be issued except for the promotion of scientific knowledge including supplies to foreign musems, foreign zoological gardens in exchange for supplies to local museums or local zoological gardens.’

It is highly possible that Dr. Jagath Gunawardana was blind to the latter part of the said Section of the law, because he was eager to please the government. Be it desire or fear – they drive our mind through outcomes – often some parts of outcomes being imaginary. Hence one separates from the common team.

Interestingly, this legislation came into being in the same year – 1964 Mrs Sirimavo Bandaranaike initiated the deportation of Indian Tamils. Wikipedia presents this as follows:

‘In September 1964 Bandaranaike led a delegation to India to discuss the repatriation of the 975,000 stateless Tamils residing in Ceylon’

The lady failed to facilitate Humans through gradual acknowledgement of Tamils through appropriate visas including work visas. Their entitlement jumped into the jungle protection law of ‘Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance’.

This to me is no coincidence. The following section of the law indicates the jungle connection:

3. (1) Save as hereinafter provided-

(a) no person shall be entitled to enter any Strict Natural Reserve or Nature Reserve, or in any way to disturb the fauna and flora therein ;

(b) no person shall be entitled to enter any National Park except for the purpose of observing the fauna and flora therein ;

(c) no animal shall be hunted, killed or taken, and no plant shall be damaged, collected or destroyed in a Strict Natural Reserve, destroyed, in a Strict National Reserve,

( d) no person shall hunt, shoot, kill or take any wild animal, or take or destroy any egg of any bird or reptile or any nest of any bird, in any Sanctuary

The philosophy underpinning this is that even though Indian Tamils were repatriated, their spirit remained in Sri Lanka, including through the Hon  Arumugam Thondaman was the grandson of the Hon Savumiamoorthy Thondaman who is honoured as follows:

At the time of his death, he was both the oldest and the seniormost member of the Sri Lankan Cabinet where he had served continuously for 21 years from 1978, under four Sri Lankan Presidents and the leader of the political party Ceylon Workers' Congress. He was succeeded by his grandson Arumugam Thondaman who was born in 1964’

The plan is to export  Toque Macaques who are known also as Macaca Sinica (of China) is the parallel of Indian Tamil repatriation. If carried out there is likely to be Chino-Lanka war through communists. The prevention is provided through Section 40 (2) of the ordinance which recommends a family barter system. As per Hindu culture, there needs to be no money transactions except on the basis of need, or structure – as provided for through community law. Money without need separates – as has already happened with China/Sinica.

MONKEYS TO CHINA FOR VACCINES?

According to the Sri Lankan President, Truth & Reconciliation Commission is very much on Sri Lankan government’s mind, to address the Ethnic problem. To discover truth, one has to go into virtual reality mode of the apparent victim. Towards this, such a commission has to be headed by a Sri Lankan of Tamil origin. When we make our primary level experiences a our source of respect, their values become heritage. Rishi Sunak’s success in the UK is confirmation of this. Heritage is true value.

The primary level Sri Lankan war was in Truth between Sinhalese & Tamils, living in the place called Sri Lanka. It was not between Sri Lankans.

Those who fail to pay their dues to their primary home communities carry the ‘debt’ with them. This ‘debt’ becomes an ‘attachment’ to the past. Attachments promote relativity. Renunciation of benefits lead to Indepence. It is to prevent dependence that we need to develop heritages.

Only those who are Sri Lankans have the natural authority of truth, to express judgment through Sri Lankan laws. Only a Tamil will have access to another Tamil’s mind. In this instance, given that as per our knowledge, more Tamils than Sinhalese suffered, they get to lead.

Given also that the issue has been raised to UN level, and given that the UNP government, under the leadership of President J R Jayawardene became a si gnatory to ‘The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD) in February 1982, the current UNP President has the moral obligation to facilitate the application of UN standards.

As per the recent reports, the current government is planning on exporting to China, monkeys that are native to Sri Lanka:

As per Wikipedia

The generic name Macaca is from Portuguese macaco, of unclear origin, while sinica means "of China," even though the species is not found there…….The toque macaque is listed as Endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) due to habitat destruction and hunting, and also for the pet trade

The awareness could come also through the Hindu pathway. As per the epic Ramayanam – Monkey god Hanuman came to Lanka as Lord Rama’s messenger. Due to getting insulted by Ravana, the then king of Lanka, Hanuman set many parts of Lanka on fire. During and after the war, Hanuman worship in Sri Lanka, has strengthened considerably.

This subspecies has been the subject of one of the longest behavioural studies of any primate species conducted in the world.

One wonders whether the export is to weaken Sri Lanka’s protection – especially the Indian protection?
