DID WHO RECOMMEND PIRITH?

The controversy over Cremation of the Muslim victim of Coronavirus has strengthened in Sri Lankan professional circles.

Ceylon Today reports about the Government’s view as follows under the heading ‘Cremation or burial for COVID-19 dead: Govt will always look at the bigger picture – MR’:

[Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (3) said that though people belonging to various faiths may have different views regarding the conducting of final rites of victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government will always act looking at the bigger picture and will only act according to the guidance received from the health officers. ]

The same Prime Minister is reported to have taken the following action against this virus:
The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore reported on 04 March 2020:

Overnight Pirith Chanting Ceremony to invoke blessings in the fight against COVID-19 outbreak
The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Cultural and Religious Affairs, under the guidance of Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, is organizing an overnight Pirith Chanting Ceremony on 07.03.2020 to invoke blessings upon Sri Lankans and the Governments and people around the world, who are fighting against the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Pirith Chanting will be held in all 25 districts in the island]

Few weeks prior to the above, Adadera reported as follows under the heading ‘Prime Group welcomes residents with invocation blessings and traditional pirith chanting ceremony’:

[Prime Group together with the homeowners of its development Prime Splendour, Rajagiriya held a traditional Pirith chanting ceremony on 15th of February 2020. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Group Mr. Brahmanage Premalal together with the Board of Directors, its members and residents of all ethnicities and faith who now occupy the condominium property. The religious ceremony was conducted under the aegis of Venerable Dodangolle Pannananda Thero. Following the Pirith chanting ceremony the Maha Sangha invoked blessings upon the living space and transferred merit upon homeowners.]

Aljazeera provides the following report about the ‘Big Picture’:

[On December 31 last year, China alerted WHO to several cases of unusual pneumonia in Wuhan, a port city of 11 million people in the central Hubei province. The virus was unknown.
February 15 saw the death toll in mainland China surge past 1,500, with 66,492 infections confirmed in mainland China.
Elsewhere, the US prepared to evacuate its citizens from a cruise ship quarantined at a Japanese dock.
Meanwhile, a February 3 speech by Chinese President Xi Jinping, published by state media, indicated the government knew about the threat of the virus well before the public alarm was raised. ]

One is therefore entitled to conclude that the current government is misleading the people even at this worst of times.

The action might have been right in terms of science and the  connection of the virus to water. To my mind, this has been confirmed also through our Australian Bondi Beach experience and also the Cruise ship infections. Yet the Sri Lankan government did not close its beaches until the curfew on 20 March 2020.
As per the above Ceylon Today report:
["So far only three months have elapsed after the COVID-19 has been identified. Still the WHO is conducting more tests regarding this virus," said PM Rajapaksa.]

In other words, the Pirith sessions were held within these three months when the scientific reasons were not known but China facts were known.

Wikipedia explains the Buddhist interpretation of the role of Water as part of the fundamental elements as follows:

[In the Pali literature, the mahabhuta (“great elements”) or catudhatu (“four elements”) are earth, water, fire and air. In early Buddhism, the four elements are a basis for understanding suffering and for liberating oneself from suffering. The earliest Buddhist texts explain that the four primary material elements are the sensory qualities solidity, fluidity, temperature, and mobility; their characterization as earth, water, fire, and air, respectively, is declared an abstraction — instead of concentrating on the fact of material existence, one observes how a physical thing is sensed, felt, perceived]

In Hinduism we have the fifth element – Aahayam /Sky / Still space, which to my mind is where the Energy ends through all these elements.

Hindus cremate our dead ones to confirm that the soul has been sent to this ultimate destination. To my mind that is Nirvana.

If therefore the body is cremated – Resurrection as per the belief of Muslims is denied. Likewise, Buddhists who bury instead of cremating.

The higher the element in the hierarchy the less aware we are of it through our physical senses. Earth is the heaviest and one who is ‘attached’ to Earth would have difficulty in reaching Nirvana. A good example is land occupation by armed forces as well as rebels.

Water is the next one.  It is known through four senses but has no smell. Then fire that we had in Australia. Fire has no smell nor taste.

To my mind, our Fire to the extent it was natural – cleansed us and protected us from the heavier water disease -  Coronavirus.  If the Sri Lankan war had been just – then there would have been lesser risk of land occupation after the war. Both sides are practicing greater unlawful occupation of land and others’ homes.

The law helps us to escalate our perception to the higher common level which balances the sense based perceptions such as majority is right or physical possession/occupation is ownership. Above that is Nirvanam/Naked Truth/Sky.

Not all deaths are wrong. Italian Catholics who truly believe in Jesus would not fear death – especially in old age. It’s a natural strengthening of the mind.

Sri Lankan Government’s heavier problem is ‘ownership by possession’. THAT caused the cremation and not WHO guideline. It’s a warning to the Government that failed to learn from China – its mentor until recently.

As for Chanting – the value is carried through Sound energy – the lightest form. If that matched the stated purpose – then we would not have any deaths due to Coronavirus after that chanting. We had a controversy because of Coronavirus – confirming the impurity of purpose.

TO BURY OR TO CREMATE?

I opened my mail after discussing the wonderful ways in which Truth leads those who value truth. During the discussion I said that  the Truth we discover comes with us and that it connects us to the truth discovered by others. I gave as example ‘cyberspace’ where other minds have registered their truth. As per my experience the truth recorded by others comes to me almost instantaneously. I said to the Hindu Tamil audience that this was the closest to Aahayam / sky which is also an element as per the wisdom inherited by us. As per that Vedham /philosophy – Panja-poothangal / Five elements preserve our truth at various stages and in various combinations. Out of those – the Sky carries the Absolute Energy. At that level it is Absolute and leads us. I said that to my mind, that was how information from cyberspace came to me from the depth that I have taken my mind to. Those whose input is at the hearsay level would access at information registered at that level.
Then when I opened the mail I noticed Twitter mail regarding Alan Keenan’s Tweet. I went into it and found the directions to Mangala Samaraweera’s posting with the message ‘Thank you, GMOA. A sane and rational voice amidst the hysteria.’:

There was a controversy over the cremation of the Muslim victim of Coronavirus. Hence the importance of the above clarification.
As per the above communication – the final decision was with the Director General of Health Services. Every Sri Lankan in official position has the duty to ensure that the provisions of the Sri Lankan Constitution are not breached in interpreting the laws. As per article 14(1)(e ) of the Sri Lankan Constitution:
[Every citizen is entitled to – the freedom, either by himself or in association with others, and either in public or in private, to manifest his religion or belief in worship, observance, practice and teaching;]

As per Wikipedia ‘Cremation of the body is strictly forbidden in Islam’

Hence if the relevant legislation does permit the Director General to make the decision – the understanding is that it should not be in breach of the Fundamental Rights of the citizen as spelt out by the Constitution. The Cremation was therefore a denial of the rights of a Muslim.
Burial is a common process to Christians and Muslims. Other common values include Gabriel and Resurrection. Wikipedia reports:

[Ibn al-Nafis wrote the Theologus Autodidactus as a defense of "the system of Islam and the Muslims' doctrines on the missions of Prophets, the religious laws, the resurrection of the body, and the transitoriness of the world." The book presents rational arguments for bodily resurrection and the immortality of the human soul, using both demonstrative reasoning and material from the hadith corpus as forms of evidence. Later Islamic scholars viewed this work as a response to Avicenna's metaphysical argument on spiritual resurrection (as opposed to bodily resurrection), which was earlier criticized by al-Ghazali ]

Also [In the Qur'an, barzakh is the intermediate state for the soul, until the day of resurrection.]

Burial would help mentally project resurrection in the same form. Cremation would oppose such a projection.

The President, as the head of the Government failed to prevent this breach of fundamental rights.
Neither Buddhism nor Hinduism preach Resurrection. Both preach rebirth. This requires us to completely forget the old form. As stated above our truth will come with us.

CAN YOU STOP THE  INSURGENCY VIRUS MADAM KUMARATUNGE?

On 01 February, here in Sydney, I heard about the wet-markets in China as being a big reason for the Coronavirus problem. I mentioned it in my article later. There were many Health Service professionals in that room where the judgment was delivered. At least two of them are doctors. Today, I read about it again in Madam Kumaratunge’s article headed ‘A Single Virus And A Humble Animal Sends The Whole World Into Lockdown’:

[Serious research has demonstrated that as far back as 13 years ago in 2007, academics have raised alarm with regard to “wet markets” and the indiscriminate consumption of wild life in China, the Far East and countries in South America, as well as in many other countries worldwide.]

And also :

["Coronaviruses are well known to undergo genetic recombination (375), which may lead to new genotypes and outbreaks. The presence of a large reservoir of SARS-CoV-like viruses in horseshoe bats, together with the culture of eating exotic mammals in southern China, is a time bomb. The possibility of the re-emergence of SARS and other novel viruses from animals or laboratories and therefore the need for preparedness should not be ignored."]

Let us replace Coronavirus with Armed Insurgency in Madam Kumaratunge’s home nation. The first outbreak of our times happened in 1971 during the leadership of Madam Kumaratunga’s mother. Then Sri Lanka went into lockdown. The insurgency virus also went through Genetic Recombination which was named Terrorism including by Madam Kumaratunge’s government. Some of those viruses continue in Parliament. These political viruses go/come ‘undercover’ from time to time. Some were/are in the Sri Lankan Judiciary also. Ceylon Today  published about one,  as follows through - the heading ‘To tackle a National calamity: President can set aside finances from Consolidated Fund - Sarath N. Silva’:

[Former Chief Justice Sarath Nanda Silva claimed that considering some of the remarks made by former Parliamentarians Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sajith Premadasa, and Mangala Samaraweera, the people have to question as to whether the trio were living on this earth or on any other planet.
He claimed that when President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Government were taking concrete measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the calls made by certain former Opposition Parliamentarians to convene Parliament is both ludicrous and absurd.
Silva questioned as to under what grounds Samaraweera had claimed that at a time when the House had been dissolved that money cannot be set aside through the Consolidated Fund.
He pointed out as per Article 4 of the Constitution; the President has been empowered with the responsibility to look after the well-being of the citizens. He said that as such, the President can set aside finances to tackle a National calamity through the Consolidated Fund.
He added that as the COVID-19 pandemic was a global crisis, the provisions contained in the Articles of the Constitution were more than suffice to combat its spread, by the Head of the State.]

As per my reading, article 4 mentions the President only at two places:
[The Sovereignty of the People shall be exercised and enjoyed in the following manner :–
(b) the executive power of the People, including the defence of Sri Lanka, shall be exercised by the President of the Republic elected by the People ;
(e) the franchise shall be exercisable at the election of the President of the Republic and of the Members of Parliament and at every Referendum by every citizen who has attained the age of eighteen years and who, being qualified to be an elector as hereinafter provided, has his name entered in the register of electors]

Wellbeing and Executive Power are not one and the same. In fact use of Executive Power can adversely affect the mental and physical wellbeing of the People.  It is to prevent natural use of such Executive Powers by those emotionally driven, that we have Laws that carry intellectual balance.
Subjective influence could be emotional or spiritual through realised oneness. When they are emotional they are as temporary as the body. When they are spiritual, they are our Soul-power.
In Hinduism, on the above basis there is a distinction between animal power and divine power. Humans are a combination of the two. Former group is known as Asurar and the latter as Thevar. So long as Asurar stay within their territory they would be self-managing. King of Lanka – Ravanan – abducted Sita and started the Ramayana war. Lakshmanan – drew the line of protection – known as Lakshmanan Rehai - and asked Sita to not come beyond that line. Sita did come in order to abide by the ethical rule that – ‘when giving alms the giver and the receiver need to be within the same territory.’

Sita went into Ravana’s territory and was abducted. Wikipedia reports the following application by Indian Parliament:

[Constitution is very clear on the roles of the Judiciary and the Legislature, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee said; both should not cross the Lakshman Rekha.]

The same Wikipedia has published the following:

[Justice Silva was seen as close to President Chandrika Kumaratunga when first appointed to the Supreme Court in 1995, then serving under her as Attorney-General in 1996 and was appointed a President's Counsel the same year. His appointment as Chief Justice in 1999 evoked widespread protest in the media on concerns of there being more qualified and experienced judges in Sri Lanka, and Chandrika Kumaratunga was perceived as using him to control Court decisions. In his short term on the Court, he had contributed to and rendered decision on many Court cases that appeared to satisfy the Executive President's political needs]

That virus of currying favour with the President is confirmed by the report of abuse of status to blindly promote the current President.

Separation of Powers between the Judiciary and the Executive is essential in a democracy that seeks to be driven by intellectual balance. Emotions expressed within a sovereign group are diffused by another section  of the group. In multi religious nations such one sided expressions need to be limited to the respective group’s  boundaries – so they would be diffused within.

The body of the Muslim who died recently ought to have been handed over to his family instead of being treated as Public Property which effectively makes the body of an orphan. Medical reasons would have applied only if there was risk of infection from the body. The Sri Lankan Government seems to be closely following the Chinese Government’s orders to cremate rather than bury the dead bodies of Coronavirus victims.

Thus, China gets the credit of controlling the pandemic in Sri Lanka.

In democracy – both sides are taken as right at the primary level.  Rights and wrong begin only after a law is made. Parliamentarians Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sajith Premadasa, and Mangala Samaraweera – mentioned above are from the UNP. It is their duty to show the other side that they represent. It needs to be diverse to the projection by the government. Unless both are of the same political group – they have to show a diverse angle to the government. In this instance the SLPP interpreted that it had the authority of the Constitution to draw from the Consolidated Fund. UNP showed another side. As per my knowledge of law – Article 4 of the Constitution does not permit the President to draw from the Consolidated Fund for the purpose of preventing the spread of the Coronavirus. Since the Constitution is the mother of laws – if there is nothing in the constitution that permits such drawing, the Parliament needs to vote on it as in any budgetary process or through Specific Purpose rules as per the Constitution. They would have been the real opposition if they had remained in the jungles.
There may be others who believe otherwise and they are entitled to do so. Then we become natural opposition – diffusing each other. The net value then manifests in a free environment – as insurgency did in the Sri Lankan jungles. Madam Kumaratunge highlights  the role of wild animals as follows:

[We are aware that the starting point of this pandemic is a public “wet market” in Wuhan where wild animals such as serpents, bats and others are kept crowded in cane baskets. These animals are bought and consumed as delicacies. This market is known to be crowded with animals and human beings and is not famous for its levels of cleanliness. Hence, infected animals would have infected other animals, which in turn would have infected people.]

Sinhala-Buddhist supremacy began during our times in the Parliament of Madam Kumaratunge’s father. Those driven by the ‘looks’ belong in a different category to those driven by intellectual balance – known as ‘knowledge’. Knowledge based management is essential for harmony in a multi-religious country for it to qualify as a sovereign nation.

Whether it is Coronavirus or Armed  Insurgency – both are animalistic. Only those who have experienced deep pain have the solution. The pain could be direct or through Oneness sharing. Natural problems happen when some of us live in our own castles in the sky and others on earth think the castles  are real and copy them, steal them and lose what they truly had.

W. H. O. COLLUDING WITH SRI LANKAN GOVERNMENT?

The higher mind raises the matter to the higher level and therefore remembers the experience and eventually that matter becomes positive Energy in one who so escalates the experience. The minds of those who absorb the wrongdoing by others, instead of taking an eye for an eye – move more quickly than others, towards this state. To my mind transcendental meditation is based on this. I myself meditate in my own way – by dwelling on the truth – however painful it may be or however attractive lesser alternatives may seem.

The Daily News heading ‘WHO Chief lauds Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 response’ did not make sense to me. The report goes as follows:

[The WHO Director General and Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa discussed the latest developments related to the outbreak of COVID-19 during the phone conversation.
In a Twitter message, the WHO Director General said he thanked President Rajapaksa for mobilizing the whole of Government in the fight against the COVID-19.
“I had a good call with @GotabayaR , President of #SriLanka, on #COVID19 today. We discussed health and economic impacts #COVID19 can have on his country and the whole region.”
“I thanked him for mobilizing the whole-of-government in the fight against the #coronavirus. Together!,” he tweeted.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, in response, thanked the Director General for his support to Sri Lanka and the immense work being done by the World Health Organization to contain the global pandemic.
He added that the Sri Lankan Government will continue to collaborate with the WHO to bring the COVID-19 pandemic under control.]

The above did not make sense to me because President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is not a health expert nor an Economic scientist. As per published figures Sri Lanka is doing 8 times better than China in terms of infections and 16 times better in terms of deaths. But then India is doing 31 times and 45 times better respectively than China.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa tweeted yesterday giving us a clue to his real motive: - ‘Let us show our gratitude to the heroes in the frontline, who are fighting for us.. to keep us safe. Thank you for your selfless service’
Adaderana entilightens us as follows:
[Sri Lanka Police says that 10,039 individuals have been arrested from across the island so far for violating the curfew currently in effect. ]

Does this not confirm that we have a law and order problem that is greater than the Health problem? It is actually 68 times bigger than the health problem. The figures speak for themselves.

We had a further report from our temple in Northern Sri Lanka – that 5 youth had acted in breach of the law, jumped over the locked gate to enter and exited through the gap in the fence on the other side. My instructions were only to take photos of trespassers. The caretaker said that she was fearful of taking photographs of them. I said then to stop her work and let whatever has to happen, happen – like in Coronavirus. I said also that she did not have even 10% of my courage in dealing with them. I reminded her of the time I walked up and down with a knife in my hand to prevent the group from taking over our Pongal ceremonies to conduct their own. No one came near me.   Mine was the litmus test for Northern Sri Lanka’s law and order solution.

The above group has no knowledge of the law except that they would be punished by armed officers if they did something that was considered wrong by the Police of that area. I have given them rules after investing in that community. The rules are to protect our private property. I do not intervene otherwise. That is the way of Dharma. The law may say that an act is wrong. But if that law is applied by someone who excludes us – and/or has wrongfully punished us then we have the moral right to reject such a law non-violently. If there is punishment – we need to silently take it and then Natural/Divine  Powers  come to our support. This to my mind is the basis of Confessions in Catholic Church. I said to the caretaker to let ‘Vairavar do the needful’. This is likely to cause mental instability in the wrong doers. ‘Whatever will be will be.’

If Sri Lankan citizens did liberate themselves what the government presented as ‘terrorism’ then the soldiers would be considered ‘heroes’ and the citizens would have self-isolated – as we are doing here in Australia.

In terms of WHO chief Wikipedia reports:

[In early 2020, Tedros oversaw the world's management of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19). According to the Georgetown professor Lawrence Gostin, his strategy was to "coax China to transparency" rather than to criticise it. Tedros offered "effusive praise" to China for its containment measures, describing them as a "new standard for outbreak control", which was criticised in light of China's efforts to suppress information. He was also criticised for the delay in declaring it a Public Health Emergency of International Concern]

Coaxing without truth amounts to ‘brainwashing’. USA is management part of WHO while Sri Lanka is seeking to withdraw from the commitments made through the UN Resolution in relation to the Sri Lanka war. If China did become more transparent – it is likely to  have much larger  war than Sri Lanka had. One who expects confidentiality from China is being true to her/himself. USA gets full credit for Transparency. The democratic world is with them.

EXECUTIVE PRESIDENCY & DEMOCRACY

We are all governors to the extent we live in our truth and share our truth. I identified with such a message headed ‘Keeping the Faith’ by Yoga Joseph. It included the following:

[The reality is that the virus is a "natural evil" like earthquakes hurricanes tornadoes floods fires etc.]

How do we know whether we created it or whether it is ‘natural’? That which cannot be logically understood by a group that claims to be ‘Sovereign’ is natural to that group. In a truly sovereign group even war related death would be a natural evil. Hence the celebrations of war heroes who fought to protect our group’s sovereignty.

As per Sri Lanka Army News headed ‘Army to Devise Transport Plan to Take Pensioners to Banks for Receipt of April Pension - Lt Gen Shavendra Silva’:

[“A medical team of 11 persons, including doctors and nursing staff who treated the COVID-19 victim who died on Monday (30) at Negombo District Hospital is being kept in quarantine for 14 days by the Army and Health officials in a hotel at Waikkal at the moment. To facilitate the pensioners who are senior citizens of this country to draw their pensions, the Army has planned a transport service to take them to their banks from their homes during 1-2 April 2020 payment days,” Lieutenant General Silva announced.]
In Democracy – the above members of the medical team would have self-isolated. At 70 if President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is able to move around, then it is taken as a natural ability of the pensioners aged 75 and below. Then there is the President’s brother – Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa who is 74 and is known to be seeking to continue his Executive leadership of Sri Lanka. On that basis all below the age of 80 are taken to be self-executing. That is how Democratic sharing happens. If they consider those above 70 to be dependents – then they ought to retire and self-isolate from Executive Administrators.

Due to the curfew the custodian of our funds in Jaffna was unable to go to the bank to withdraw money for a large family near our temple in Thunaivi – in Northern Sri Lanka. This family’s eldest member Chellamani, sells peanuts at the Jaffna Bus Stand. Chellamani who is a grandmother works everyday – except when she is sick as per her own assessment. She is a role model not only to me but to other women in that area. Then there is George our hairdresser here in Coogee who must be well over 70. Just before the social-distancing rule came into operation, I sought  Georges’ services because he is another role model from our electorate. Hence even when some were puzzled by the rule that non-essential services did not include hairdressers – I identified with it as a natural bonus. I took it as my god communicating with the Prime Minister’s god.
If we identify with our own sovereignty as individuals and/or as a group – we would govern the Coronavirus instead of letting it rule over us. Likewise the Army which is a virus in a self-governing democracy.

The Buddhist clergy in Sri Lanka are setting a poor example in this regard:

[Asgiriya, Malwatta chief prelates request all temples to chant Pirith for a week

The chief prelates of Asgiriya and Malwatta chapters have requested all Buddhist temples in the country to chant ‘Pirith’ every day for a consecutive week.
This request comes as Covid-19 cases tally of Sri Lanka is on the rise, and the risks of the local outbreak are yet to be eliminated.
The chief prelates have also appealed to the general public to join this religious programme from their homes while adhering to the health guidelines of the government.
Accordingly, all Buddhist temples in the country are to chant ‘Pirith’ for a period of an hour (7.00 pm to 8.00 pm) every day for a week starting from tomorrow (01). They have been requested to ring the temple’s bell, to observe Pansil, to chant Ratana Sutta and Girimananda Sutta followed by an act of truth (Sacca Kriya) performed at 7.55 pm in all temples to seek blessings for the people.] Adaderana
There is also the following news report published  by Adaderana:

[Police to take strict action against social media posts attacking public servants

Strict legal action will be sought against those who make defamatory, malicious posts on social media against public servants who are fighting the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, says the Police Media.
The Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP) has given instructions to the DIG of the Criminal Investigation Department and all the OICs across the island to arrest such individuals and produce them before courts.
The Police Headquarters points out that the public sector is committed to controlling the spread of COVID-19 virus in Sri Lanka.
However, there have been reports regarding videos and statements on social media with false or malicious content that criticizes and obstructs the work of public servants and threatens them.
Accordingly, persons who are involved in activities of this sort will be dealt with strict legal actions as per the instructions of the Acting IGP, the Police Media said further.]

My question is – Do the Police & other Public Officers have enough spare time to read Social Media ? Social media space is largely for leisure purposes. Those Sri Lankans who are active in that space – are confirming to be not seriously concerned about Coronavirus. In fact in terms of death rates as published – Sri Lanka is doing 25 times better than China and two thousand times better than America. Since it is Ape Aanduwa (OUR GOVERNMENT) the People are taken to be educating the Officers – as in ‘Customer is Right’ principle. Between the  Buddhist Clergy and Leaders of Cyberspace the latter is more democratic than the former and promotes self governance regulated by fellow participants. The main purpose is to be connected to each other’s mind for better or for worse. Except for a few – I do not read work published by social media.  But I accept that some find it as relaxing as going to the movies. It is their ‘private space’ and should not be brought under the control of the other Pole – the Armed Officers. They are poles apart in Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka will be functional only when they are poles apart.

I believe that Cyberspace leads me to important information – almost instantaneously because I respect the high minds that have shared their truth with all of us. Cyberspace could be the Bible or the Tabloid – as per our own seeking.  Unruly public officers would find the tabloid. Seekers of Truth would find the Bible. Truth will come through Cyberspace – to those who live in Truth and use Cyberspace to share that Truth and nothing but the Truth.

At the moment in Sri Lanka – the Coronavirus has been made the enemy of the Armed Forces by the President. Like the Tamil invisible armed rebels,  this virus is invisible to the body and mind of the common armed Sri Lankan officer. The victim is the civilian who is battling in her/his own way – as Tamil civilians also did during  the war. In Sri Lanka, the gene has mutated from war fear to Corona fear.

Those who die in this epidemic in the path of their duty and this includes politicians and civilians and parents who share the sovereignty with each other – they have died honourably – just like war heroes. That is the value highlighted by the following social sharing here in Australia:

If Mr Trump is democratic he will smile! This is why America is hierarchically above Sri Lanka. Madam Angela Merkel as portrayed above is  an example of elders who died so their heirs – the  young would live. Since  Hitler has been replaced by Angela, the Coronavirus is sure to be replaced by therapeutic virus such as oncolytic virus that kills cancer cells. One who believes has hope.

CORONA :  QUO VADIS?
SINHALESE SOLDIER:  MALLE OLUWA
SINHALESE PESIDENT:  MALLE SALLI NAE

As per my knowledge of spoken Sinhalese the Sinhala extended version of Quo Vadis is – ‘Koheda yanne ? malle pol.’ (Where are you going? Coconuts in the basket)

In today’s Sri Lanka – the question is asked by the minority voter who rejected the current president -  to which  and the response from the deaf soldier is ‘head in the basket’ – highlighted  about  Sri Lanka currently in war mode – as follows:

[ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka Muslim Congress leader Rauff Hakeem is condemning the fact that the remains of a Muslim man, the second person to die from COVID 19, were cremated as it is against the teachings of the Islamic faith.]

When the politician ‘sees’ the vote, the soldier led by such a politician ‘sees’ the head (Oluwa = head) . When we ‘see’ the benefits we do not have the experience and v.v. In Body, Mind & Soul – Body is most visible, mind is knowable and is relative; Soul is beyond Body & Mind and is Experienced with a still body and still mind – in Nirvana.

To get close to the Truth – we need to go deeper than the apparent and the intellectually derived logic. Then we become the other Equal half of Coronavirus and   hence do not see it nor know it as an external but realise it Exists. That confirms Governance.

It is interesting that this death is from Negombo – the area that suffered highest rate of death due to Easter bombing. It is also an area from where high numbers of illegal migrants travelled by boat to Italy. Every such migrant who was relatively better off in Sri Lanka than the parallel Italian of  her/his generation, is in breach of the fundamentals of ‘Terra Nullius’  (nobody’s land) principles of  positive migration. Governments that fail to maintain this fundamental principle in migration are weakening their own sovereignty.  When we lose connection with our intrinsic sovereignty, we start depending on others including ‘god’/ ‘divinity’ – as in ‘Buddhism Foremost’ relative value in Sri Lankan Constitution.

Here in Australia, there is a ‘situation’ at the moment with the Cruise Ships refusing to ‘go home’ to their own home countries. We had a similar challenge with the Tampa Affair in 2001 which eventually went towards  toppling Mr Howard and his government  in 2007.

Wherever Truth is realized – that place is sacred even when that discovery is not published or is published but not read. The Anniversary of that time is also sacred – as in Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

As per current figures, about 10% of  Australia’s  Coronavirus cases came from the Ruby Princess Cruise ship. Hence the order for Ships to go back to their home countries is valid and protects Australia’s Sovereignty.

At the individual level, the way to determine whether we are right or wrong in the eyes of our path to Sovereignty – is to identify with the group that is our ‘home-group’. Within such a group – we would intuitively know whether or not another member would be more adversely affected by our rulings and/or actions than our gain by such rulings and/or actions. In other words we are the winners and we are the losers. Our wins must NOT come from insiders. If they do – we weaken our sovereignty and when we weaken our sovereignty, we weaken our natural powers.

In 2019, the Italian Government ended up allowing Refugees from Sea-Watch 3 & Ocean Viking to enter Italy. There was strong opposition to this from its Political Opposition. If that Opposition was genuine, then effectively 50% of Italian Government is taken to have Opposed this. One needs to therefore ask the question as to whether the old had to die to make way for the young?

Our Australian Government’s ‘advice’ to over 70’s to self-isolate is being challenged by some – through the question whether this would lead to mental problems. Isolation is likely to lead to an idle mind and hence loss of memory of deeper values. The Sri Lankan Human Rights Commission’s suggestion to release prisoners above 70, would have similar effects. Neither is experience based.

While none of the Australian Prime Ministers of our times seem to have worked in that position beyond 70 – the current Sri Lankan President became president at the age of 70. Since his ‘Pardoning’ of the soldier is a governance decision, morally speaking – Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa as well as  anyone in the  current parliament who did not oppose him – disqualify the  eligibility test for Executive Presidential Powers. Executive Powers are to Administer and they are relative. They lead us close  to realising Absolute Power of Ownership. When Absolute Powers are used at the lower level – it is confirmation that any law above that level is merely for intellectual purposes. They do not qualify in making governance decisions.

We go to the temple by vehicle, walk towards the altar on foot and at the altar we are still. The voter is the vehicle, the Executive is our feet and  Governance happens when both are still.

The Island’s article ‘COVID-19: Quo Vadis Sri Lanka’ presents as follows:
[Prof Ricardo Hausman (Harvard University) has recommended that EM governments should borrow as much as they can to provide sufficient liquidity to firms and income support to households. The focus should be on borrowing from domestic sources and mobilising external financing from official sources. A multilateral debt relief initiative organised by the IMF/World Bank for vulnerable countries should also be on the cards. Access to international capital markets is severely constrained as a result of the spike in yield of high risk assets as result of “flight to quality” as reflected in a strengthening of the USD.]

On 30 March I highlighted as follows:

[ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has asked international lending agencies to give debt relief for vulnerable nations as a Coronavirus pandemic is wreaking havoc around the world.
“President Gotabaya Rajapaksa requests international donor agencies to provide a debt moratorium or debt deferment facility to all vulnerable developing nations to the COVID – 19 risk,” his office said in a statement.
“President had urged Director General of the World Health Organization to forward this request to multi-lateral and bilateral lending agencies.”]

To Sri Lankans - Professor Hausman is the vehicle – like Peacock being the vehicle of Lord Murugan. The feet that walk towards the altar need to be Sri Lankan.
