Pushparasa Jeevarasa of Thunaivi - Sri Lanka - under the Banyan Tree

Strengthening the Root-Connection

Gajalakshmi Paramasivam

The upcoming Presidential election in Sri Lanka is a great opportunity  through which Tamils of Sri Lankan origin could strengthen their connection to their roots.  This includes Malaysian Tamils, Singaporean Tamils, British Tamils and Australian Tamils who emigrated from Ceylon/Sri Lanka but kept the connection to their roots/origins going in one form or the other. This is the heritage value of the time based vertical system. Tamils in Sri Lanka who have apparently ‘lost’ political status due to the LTTE led armed struggle need strengthening at the roots to carry forward the true consolidated values of the struggles of Tamils to operate as independent individuals in Sri Lanka – carrying with dignity the full value of their genuine contribution – including through armed struggle which is only a part of the total contribution.  The value of this contribution was diminished  due to the abuse of power and exercise of authority with no connection to the independence-root. The root of  freedom is independence. Power exercised beyond the feeling of this root weakens that connection. Not only the LTTE, and  the Government of Sri Lanka but also the UN are guilty of such abuse that resulted in the narrowing of the pathway through which the Tamil Community could  enjoy and show this  independence, with dignity.

While we may feel the loss of lives in the 2009 Battle of Vanni, we need to ask ourselves whether we did not expect that as the Cost necessary to strengthen our roots – given the armed pathway chosen by a significant section of the Tamil Community?  If the LTTE did not expect this -  they were wrong in resorting to armed rebellion. If they did expect this and did their best to protect civilian casualties – then each one of those who died is a war hero and their wholesome contribution as independent citizens would go straight to the root of independence. The death of such civilians is a heritage investment and should not be treated as a cost or worse as a loss.

The deaths of those who joined the armed struggle for current benefits of money and status – is the current cost paid for that part of our struggle. We need to consolidate and carry forward the net loss consciously to prevent future excesses of assumed authority by individuals and groups  – overriding the political freedom of the democratic path.

This Presidential election is the first opportunity Tamils have in a long time - to freely exercise their political franchise and confirm to themselves their right to act as independent democratic citizens. If we abstain from voting – we would be handing that right to the lower paths of rule and thus would be writing off  our own investments in the political path towards realizing ownership. That in a family is like writing off our own mother as a common leader of the family.  ‘No Vote’ is being recommended by those who support LTTE – which confirmed its excess when it actively prevented the Tamil Community from voting in the 2005 elections. By doing so, the LTTE voted en-bloc for the Rajapaksa group  - their natural Opposition group in armed struggle. It’s like a mechanic planting nails along the roadway for the business of repairing tyres.  The LTTE’s world was limited to the project of armed struggle. Playing politics outside those borders weakened our root connection to independence.    The essence of that project needs to be included in our program to not only realize independence but also to maintain and handover a stronger independence heritage to our next generation – wherever they may live physically.

Those who are truly connected to their  roots – be it through family, community or national pathway, empower naturally – through God’s system - the active generation living in the physical environments of the roots. The 2009 defeat of the armed struggle is temporary to those who are connected to the roots of the independence issue.   Those so connected would not be distracted by ‘revenge’ or competition. They would act/defend to protect their investments but not attack to damage the other side. One who is truly independent would value that independence in others.

Through my own experiences I believe that those who feel the root connection would naturally connect to the most disenfranchised – whether they are living in the physical environment around the physical root or  in  faraway places such as Australia and Canada. These need not be the ones who ‘show’ most damage on the outside but the quiet bearers of suffering including suffering in their current environments that ‘show’ more ‘freedom’ than do  Tamil areas in Sri Lanka. I am one such person who suffered with forbearance, suppression of  right to express intellectual and physical independence here in Australia. Through that experience I realized independence from the fruits of  contemporary Australia and now feel connected to the roots – as if I were an Aboriginal Australian.

Likewise I feel the connection to the parallels of Aborigines – the  Toddy Tapper community in Northern Sri Lanka – largely due to indifference within the Tamil Community to my pathway  of quiet achievement – the slow pathway of the tortoise. Grandparents who feel connected to their family roots – would realize this fulfilment – often with grandchildren. Towards this the grandparents need to be independent of the benefits of current and active parenting directly and / or on behalf of the their children who are now parents. Like Governors, Grandparents need to work through the facilities available to them and/or use current benefits earned through current costs. The parallel of the latter for the Tamil Diaspora is the net current earning through direct service in Sri Lanka.

Grandchildren in family  are the closest to the roots of the family because they are still close to their birth – closer than all of us. They say that babies and god are One. Babies often become the messengers of God when we are in genuine need. Likewise the poorest folks in Sri Lanka – poorest in status in this instance.

I believe that those in the Tamil Diaspora who feel connected to the poorest Tamil in Sri Lanka – would strengthen the roots of our community in that area. As Lord Krishna states in Bhaghawath Geetha – about Kalpagatharu – the wish-fulfilling tree – the roots are in heaven and the fruits are in earth – with the tree hanging upside down.  The fruits of the independence tree is the physical ‘freedom’. When enjoyed at a level higher than the independence felt at the root – such freedom leads to excessive authority being taken over those with apparently lesser status in the physical environment. This was the case with LTTE and is now the case with many sections of the Tamil as well as Sinhalese Diaspora. The  Common Sri Lankan, like the Grandparent without active status but strong feelings for family – continues to quietly maintain the root connection through the tiny spaces available in a society busy showing outcomes towards majority win.

Politics, like Emotions produces the  other side more quickly than does Administration. When emotions are controlled they lead to quiet consolidation within – as if both sides are within the same person. That is the direct path to ownership. It bypasses Administrative highway with its high status through wins and defeats. This is why I say mothers are feelers and fathers are thinkers.

Both main contenders in this upcoming Sri Lankan Presidential Elections claim victory over armed rebels of Tamil ethnicity. To the extent they were connected to the ‘roots’ of their own origins that person would have strengthened the root connection of all ethnicities. To the extent Sinhalese who have the power to elect government feel the connection to their own roots – they would elect the person who would demonstrate Equal respect as they allocate to themselves – for the Tamil who demonstrates similar connection to her/his roots  in Sri Lanka – whichever part the root may be in. Earth is One and this is realized at the deeper levels  close to the nucleus.  I say Tamil because Tamils as a community have demonstrated strong Administrative structures that are needed to regulate the path of the rich middle class owners who form  the majority section known as Sri Lankans. When such Sinhalese and Tamils form common structures – that becomes the Administrative structure needed by all those who seek to be Common Sri Lankans carrying their respective cultural diversity without disturbance. The Diaspora needs to demonstrate more than the resident voter – that its roots are in heaven – independence heaven. This is also the message of Christians through the forbidden fruit – and Lord Buddha who recommended the renunciation of  desires. Where we pay the due costs – the benefits that flow are earned and therefore rise to the higher level – the level of ownership - to the root Energy. Desires/Wishes that are unearned but are enjoyed - would cause damage at one time or the other – at some place or the other when the person gets displaced. The longer the costs paid in genuine belief remain unreturned – the stronger their maturity as ownership. Hence, it would be good for Tamils to show that maturity and demonstrate their common ownership of Sri Lanka through free  and voluntary participation in the elections. The ultimate success is realization of independence. Genuine participation goes to that independence root of freedom.

Tamils Recruiting the President?

This morning I was directed to the article ‘Sri Lanka's electoral dysfunction’ by Journalist J.S.Thissainayagam, published in Tamil Guardian; the original article having been published in Foreign Policy journal. I was able to comfortably identify with the essence of Mr. Thissainayagam’s message about minority rights in Sri Lanka.

Mr. Thissainayagam states:

[The international community must take forward the UN investigation into Sri Lankan atrocities "to bring those responsible for crimes in both the Sri Lankan government and the LTTE before an international tribunal"]

This to me is an administrative statement as opposed to the following from a ‘Tamil only’ supporter who is supporting ‘no voting’ by Tamils:

[The Tamil problem in SL can only be resolved with the involvement and engagement of the international community. The Vaddukoddai resolution, the election of the TNA to the NPC has sent a clear message to the IC, that the Tamils want to be left alone to live and manage their own affairs peacefully.]

As with most communities we Tamils also have our share of emotionally driven groups and those operating at the higher Administrative level. Within the Diaspora, some of us are taking the Administrative approach through global mechanisms whilst others are using politics of their current areas of residence to influence majority outcomes. Such political exercise  has the effect of suppressing Administrative outcomes in areas where subjective power is not evenly balanced.  When this happens, it  would reduce the value of Sri Lanka as a whole at the International level.  The Administrative path on the other hand, would maintain the promised Equal status of Sri Lanka with other UN member nations. Maintaining that subjective power to equal levels – would lead to reliable administration through the subjective path.

When we interact with individuals as per each other’s current contributions only – we develop the political system in which the excess becomes wastage when we step into higher administrative level. The higher value of Administration is that we pass our costs through positions common to many contributors and also derive benefits through those positions. This results in beneficiaries of the same level  having  Opportunity to derive Equal benefits and those with higher entitlement (not as per their contribution to the current benefits pool but as per their contribution to the total value – including the inherited values – often reflected through the seniors in a family/community/nation ) – deriving  higher benefits by raising the base opportunity to the higher level through their own efforts. Those seniors who focus more on current benefits than on positions are part of the wastage that politics/emotional attachments become beyond their physical lifetime.

Under the system of Democracy –  our Administrative contributions spread laterally to become global values. The wider the reach  the greater the global value and therefore the stronger the heritage value when read through the vertical system of time.  The strength of this heritage/global value is determined by the Truth within the structure. Often when there is no medium for such structure – it still remains as Energy and empowers the seekers universally – often without either side being conscious of its existence. They are like acts of god.

Truth and Fact are often confused and they are indiscriminately used to suit the current desires of those in custody of the physical form of power.  Likewise Heritage value and History are often mixed indiscriminately resulting in wastage of current resources. One who is not conscious of the oldest position in a family or the position with widest coverage in lateral system of democracy is talking about history when s/he refers to Heritage. Both leading ethnicities in Sri Lankan politics – Tamils and Sinhalese accepting armed leadership over intellectual leadership are referring to history when they refer to the past. Both distract from discovering the real and lasting solution that suits Sri Lankans of all ethnicities/the Common Sri Lankan.

Like with the individual, there are three levels at which ‘fact’ is measured. The objectively measurable fact that is seen physically and is measured through independent majority report; the subjectively reported  fact that the person thinks it is;  and the real fact that is a manifestation of Truth as experienced. That Truth is never changing across the various levels and across time.  The ‘fact’ as reported by subjects is valid only to the extent that the subject is connected to the person/s who had the ‘experience’. These are the subjects who are connected to the experience through feelings. In democracy, it is more difficult than in autocracy,  to experience feelings through objectively measurable outcomes that did not happen in our life time.

Like the mind, the fact as we think it is,  is a combination of the body of the outcome and the Truth / the soul of the fact. A fact without soul is wastage beyond its physical time or place of external use. Politics has higher risk of this wastage than Administration. Subjective expressions without equal opposition often become political wastage due to weak ‘other’ side.

A vote without belief is a wasted vote. ‘No  voting’ without an Administrative purpose weakens the investment by Tamils in ‘political rights’. The LTTE being included in the ‘war-crimes’ investigations confirms that the ‘no voting’ in 2005 Presidential Elections became a current cost against the LTTE and the Tamils – especially those strongly influenced by LTTE.

At this point in time, when Tamils have the responsibility to decide not only whom to vote for in January 2015,  but also whether to vote or not to vote – the heritage value of Tamil Community needs to be understood for what it truly is. Only those who feel connected to  Tamil ancestors as opposition to majority  Sinhalese have true connection to ownership ‘rights’ in the ethnic issue. The Vaddukoddai Resolution was made as per the Political structure common to all Sri Lankans and was indeed motivated towards ‘winning’ positions in that Political Structure common to Sri Lankans. Tamils winning the Equal Opposition position in  Parliament in 1977 confirmed the natural heritage value of  Tamils’ higher  investments in Administration. If there had been a parallel investment in lateral democracy – the Tamil Diaspora would have fielded their local representative to ‘show’ their power at its maximum, and done so  before the Common Opposition Candidate was fielded by Sinhalese. THAT would have been the foundation on which a Tamil would one day become a Common President of Sri Lanka. Such power is still available but more so in  Administrative form.

The 1977 Equal position was achieved through the True investment by Tamils in  Administration. As per my observations – Tamils as a community are the deepest investors in common structures and positions – including through job  based caste system as regulated by Thesawalamai Law – which is very different to the Sinhalese customary system which influences development of law in Sri Lanka. Caste system today is of heritage value to Jaffna Tamils. It was indeed the foundation of the Administrative system as practiced by Tamils of Northern Sri Lanka which led to the Political victory in 1977 when Tamils won the position of Equal Opposition in Parliament.

The above mentioned ‘Tamil only’ participant states in support of his claim that Tamils would be better off ‘staying at home’ on election day:

Gandhi made a stand;  we Tamils collectively can, if we stay at home at this election, and watch the mayhem amongst them for a change, with a clear message - ABSTAIN, and the IC will understand, our next step.’

Gandhi acted as per his investment in Administration. When he could not derive returns as per his investment in the Administrative system  - Gandhi promoted and practiced non-violent non-cooperation in Administration. The Administrative unit  when translated at the physical level – becomes double or more multiples of the unit value of political  power. This is because politics is limited to physical units and one person can enjoy / suffer only one or the other of ‘pain or pleasure’ at any one time at the physical level. The rest is stored intellectually.

In Administration there are two sides :

(1)   Positions taken by  two or more subjects – one/one group  taking one side and the other taking the equal and opposite side – as in Parliament where the Opposition has Equal rights as the Government; or
(2)   One person representing the ‘right’ side of the matter measured through common rule, principle or law and the other person/group representing  ‘not-right’ / ‘wrong’ side of the matter. The right side gets the benefit and the wrong side pays the cost. The deeper the applicability of the law or the wider the applicable coverage  the higher the multiple value mentioned above.

Subjective Local path
One (1) above represents heritage value when the subjects have contributed to maintenance of systems that represent true experiences of persons before our time at that place and  who do not have a direct vote / say in making current decisions. Some examples of the above heritage values  for Sri Lankan Tamils are King Ellalan, Sir Ponnambalam Arunachalam, Sir Ponnambalam Ramanathan,   GG Ponnambalam; SJV Chevanayagam and Appapillai Amirthalingam. The older their contribution and the more current the consciousness of the person is – the greater the subjective value when manifested at political level.

There is a published list in Wikipedia – of  people described as  Tamils of Sri Lanka defined as follows:

[This is a List of Tamils of Sri Lanka by their country of domicile or origin. All communities that speak Tamil or spoke Tamil and originally came from Sri Lanka are included.Tamils of Sri Lanka today are a trans-national minority and are found across the globe. They are known by many other names including Ceylonese, Jaffnese, Eelamese and Nagas among others.]

Included in the list are personalities such as Mr. Maha Sinnathamby who is reported to have stated publicly ‘Proud to be a Tamil". Be proud to be a part of to be a part of this great country and can I say what unites us is far, far greater than what divides us - so let us join hands and work together’

If there is a Tamil v English vote in Australia – then the above would be a valid political statement. But Mr. Sinnathamby to have subjective power influencing Sri Lankan politics, needs to believe that he is Sri Lankan – no more or no less than he is Malaysian or Australian. The ownership Truth as experienced at national level is the common soul in all descriptions at equal level. The conscious connection to the local group is essential for the senior/high achiever  to be included as part of the group. On that basis Mr. Sinnathamby is not known to have shared his achievements with Sri Lankans nor was he in Sri Lanka when he achieved his credentials. The Sri Lankan root to be a valid claim, needs to be  kept alive through Belief as individual,  part of family and/or part of community. That belief is the spark of True experience and is as good and valid as the Experience itself.

Objective global  path
Two (2) above has the greater effect of lateral spread through policies and values. The less the ‘local’ baggage of ‘possession’ (as in Tamil only or Sinhala only) the further the outreach and lateral spread – even if one never left home physically. In this instance – the subject is lost consciousness of and the value is related through the outcome made available to the Public. Like the Soul, Truth / Independence, once experienced is never lost  - even when it is not recognized by others. Truth is Universal and hence manifestations of Truth acquire global value – the moment they are produced and given form as per the environment in which they are born.  They need not be recognized by those with global status – to be so valuable.

They are independent of all subjects and yet belong to all – each one as per her/his belief in the ISSUE.  Some such as the Ponnambalams and Ellalan, in the above list would qualify under the global listing as well – due to their contribution to Administration through civil service. All those who are minorities and achieve highly and confirm it through production of public outcomes – are taken to have won through merit basis. Hence they are more global than those of majority power.

The issue in the current challenge facing Sri Lankan Tamils of global consciousness is participation in development of  strong Administrative foundation on which Politics would be played out democratically in Sri Lanka. To political minorities  who cannot directly identify with any Presidential candidate,  production of globally recognizable outcomes is the core purpose of voting. In the 2010 elections  majority Tamils voted for General Fonseka and thus confirmed that they were not against the armed forces. Since military action represents physical power – war crimes is no longer a political issue for local Sri Lankans. They are more of heritage value for those who had the experience and are preparing to handover to the next generation.

The People of Vaddukoddai – where the Vaddukoddai Resolution was made and declared in 1976, confirmed their acceptance of the current leaders as political leaders when they attended of their own accord  - meetings where President Rajapaksa spoke, earlier this year. If we are strong administrators in our current environments – however local and small they may seem – we would naturally exercise our right to vote and thus maintain our membership in global politics and also maintain the foundation level of global administration.

A right is exercised for oneself  by oneself - so our thoughts would be structured to merge with our environmental structures.  The majority voting for a particular side of the common order of thought has the priority leadership position. The other side is Equally important in that structure to which Tamils have also contributed over time and distance. If not for Sinhalese politicians – Tamils would be weak in politics and would be open to dictatorships as happened through  LTTE rule.

Hence to me the issue is whether Tamils seek  to vote for Mr.Rajapaksa and prevent future dictatorships which confirm loss of political power to armed forces or whether they/we  seek to vote for the Common Opposition Candidate and work along with like-minded Sinhalese for less structured and more transparent general living which carries the risk of loss of heritage value of Sri Lankans of both ethnicities. Under the current group leading the Opposition – the Opposition is not Common but General. Consolidation based on sacrifice of current benefits is essential for general to become common. If we are to vote for General the Tamil struggle at the political level would then become mere history.

Non-violent non-cooperation in Administration is an ownership declaration. It’s the parallel of no-confidence vote in parliament – and needs to be beyond the Administrative path and not before the Administrative path.

No-Voting in politics at the voters level -  is the path of the indifferent and has the effect of handing over our rights to dictators – including those on our side who make ‘deals’. We as individuals have the right to vote for a person or position as per the stated structure.  No one outside the  Presidential structure has the right to deal on our behalf with any of the candidates. Velupillai Prabhakaran in his ignorance and greed sold out and brought upon the curse of Tamil ancestors who used non-cooperation beyond Administration as a last resort before the issue was submitted to Natural Powers.  Any Tamil leader who compromises on the right of the individual Tamil voter would likewise lose the support of true global participants in democracy. Thus Jaffna may become another general section of Sri Lanka. To prevent this, we need to ‘recruit’ and not elect.

If we are influenced by strong Administrators – we would be ‘recruiting’ and not electing the President.

Politics & Old Age Diversity

The recent division within the ruling party in Sri Lanka in some ways is a Restructure at national level. Irrespective of which individual wins, this restructure would have certain impacts on all Sri Lankans and all investors in Sri Lanka.

We may consciously develop systems and/or accept the systems that develop naturally. As per my own experience, there is a Divine / Natural component in every manifestation that we see and relate to. All of us have the opportunity to invest in that system consciously and/or naturally. When we do, that investment gets activated naturally and without our intervention  at the time of manifestations of outcomes. Systems based on Truth / Love / Common Values  -  work for us in similar manner, to the extent of our investments in them. This share of Natural powers has increased tremendously in Sri Lanka – due to deaths of civilians influenced by government related problems and due to unethical conduct by either side ignored by the respective leadership.  The split within the ruling party of majority race was already experienced by Tamils when Karuna – the Eastern LTTE leader -  broke away from Northern LTTE to join the Government.      The reasoning by Karuna back then seems to be the parallel of the reasoning of Mr. Maithreepala Sirisena now.

I am a strong believer in systems. I believe that when costs and investments are processed through high positions  they acquire the blessings of the position through our investments in that position and the structure that the position is a part of. In addition to this there may be support through conscious efforts by either side individual.

The outcome of current elections could be influenced by those individuals who invested at service level (i.e. without any expectations and/or receipt of  material benefits) – especially to strengthen the STRUCTURES that Sri Lankans over many generations have invested in. Such investment needs to be belief based by the person/s independent of any external factor. Once our work reaches service level – it become global / universal and could be given any shape / form by the believer. Often such believers would be able to work with either side.

Voters who invest directly in individuals on the other hand, would have difficulty when there are system restructures. If Mr. Rajapaksa wins – Sri Lanka would continue to maintain its diversity at the global level.  If Mr. Sirisena wins – it is more likely that Sri Lanka would be left to Natural forces to become just another country – as Batticaloa has become just another part of  Sri Lanka – without particular conscious identity of its own.

Politics is emotional and one sided.  Administration is intellectual and two sided. When we consolidate our emotions to include  experiences with all concerned – they become common and therefore the common form would be divisible into two equal parts for the whole group. Rights and wrongs could be allocated at that common level. They cannot be at the emotional level nor at the ownership level which is above/beyond  the Administrative level.

Minorities need to invest more in Administration than at emotional level – to confirm their equal rights to claim ownership. If this is difficult  - they need to stay within their local borders and develop feelings of ownership for that place  as in specialization. This would contribute to diversity – so long as the group/person stays within the borders of that local group. Those who come beyond those borders need to invest more deeply in common administration to feel equal. Group power when exercised outside local borders would lead to lowering the Administrative standards of the whole. Once we feel, we influence Natural systems that would deliver outcomes at our earned levels to facilitate ongoing opportunities for us. An opportunity is a combination of ownership and outcome. Developing that ownership is the ultimate purpose of political and cultural grouping.

Jaffna Tamils of  Sri Lanka are strong in Administration. Batticaloa Tamils and Muslims – as per my observations are more suited for specialization / diversity. Basically  - the Jaffna Tamil needs to vote for the leader who is more likely to facilitate investments in Administrative structures. Batticaloa Tamils and Muslims need to vote for ‘privacy’ to develop as per their own cultures – so that they do not assimilate and become victims of majority powers.

As per today’s mail:
A special meeting was held between common opposition and the Tamil National Alliance at the former President Chandrika Bandaranaike’s residence a few days ago, a report said. TNA spokesman Suresh Premachandran said the Tamil National Alliance was represented by Senathirajah, Suresh Premachandran, Selvam Cole Siddharth and MA Sumandiran while common opposition was represented by Chandrika Kumaratunga, Ranil Wickremesinghe, Sirisena, Mangala Samaraweera and the lawyers Jayamapathi Wickramarathne at the meeting held on the 22nd December at 11.00 am. The negotiations were successfully concluded, Suresh Premachandran said.
This means that the TNA vote is for Mr. Sirisena who is the spokesperson for the above Common Opposition group. This as per my assessment of Mr. Sirisena would  lead to such Tamils who work under the leadership of TNA - being more assimilators than administrators if they come outside their local borders. Unless therefore there were particular commitments to facilitate privacy through political devolution – TNA would have diluted the power of Tamils to influence national level outcomes in regular life after elections. That is Karuna style.

This approach is similar to age based diversity – the workings of which  could be observed at the family level. Parents who are strong administrators, tend to be active in old age – even after their children start operating independently. They would continue to strengthen Systems and Structures rather than enjoy benefits as general part of the family. Those who have been weak investors in Systems and Structures  would tend to enjoy life as if they are beneficiaries of the system and end up forming their own special groups – including at nursing homes. I consider myself to be a strong investor in Administration and I continue to pass my thoughts through structures and values of my ancestors – despite the knowledge that majority Australian Tamils, like TNA are in the latter category – needing privacy.

TNA needs a strong Jaffna Tamil group to lead the community in Administration  at National level and beyond if we are to be strong enough to be heard – to facilitate privacy for the assimilators.

Politics and Administration are two pathways to Ownership. For an individual they are Emotions and Reasoning respectively. At the individual level – it takes longer to realize ownership through the emotional path than through the intellectual path.   Hence group powers work where majority in a community are more emotionally driven than are driven by ‘systems’ and reasoning as per those systems. Thus the length of time taken for ownership is reduced through collective emotions – as has happened in Sri Lankan Politics – through the Common Opposition to balance the strong family based emotional influence of the Rajapaksas. This is still emotional at community level –  particular to the Sinhalese community. It would not promote higher Administration for the whole of Sri Lanka.

Indian Influence on Military Bases in Jaffna

In her article Elections: CBK-Maithri-Ranil-TNA Eelam deal & Sri Lanka’s National Security’ at http://www.lankaweb.com published yesterday, Ms Shenali Waduge states:
The memoirs of Nevil Jayaweera (handpicked to be the GA Jaffna in 1963) are referred to recollect and show honor to Mr. N Q Dias (father of Mr. Gomin Dayasri) for his visionary plan to set up military bases in the North taking stock of the possibilities of Tamil Nadu illegal immigrants pouring into Sri Lanka. Again, for petty political motives the reduction of these military bases by JR Jayawardena drastically undermined the national security of the country when Tamil militants began their terror. What Mr. N Q Dias envisaged for which he drew counter measures was proven when in November 2003 the LTTE declared that 35% of its cadres were from Tamil Nadu! http://www.island.lk/2003/11/11/
I was surprised by this revelation and this prompted me to read the report at its source. According to that report taken from the Hindustan Times published by the Island:

35% of our fighters are Tamils of Indian origin: LTTE by PK Balachanddran
The leader of the LTTE’s political wing, SP Tamilchelvam, has made the startling revelation that 35 per cent of the fighting cadres of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are Indian Origin Tamils (IOT).

There is a difference between Tamils of Indian origin and Tamils from Tamil Nadu in India. Reading the above report by Shenali Waduge,  I recalled the memory of  my own painful experiences here in Australia where despite my strong protests – I was listed by the Police as ‘Sri Lankan’. It was not only wrong as per the law – but also as per Truth.  When I am interacting with Australians – I  am Australian – albeit a migrant Australian. When I am interacting with Sri Lankans in Sri Lanka – I am Sri Lankan. But when I am ‘told’ in Australia that I am Sri Lankan I object to it strongly because of the sacrifices I have made to become Australian. Likewise I expect Hill Country Tamils of Sri Lanka to be treated by all concerned as Sri Lankans and not as Indians.

During his response to my article ‘ Robbing Sir Ponnambalam Arunachalam to pay M G Ramachandran’, published by Sri Lanka Guardian on 13 August 2014,  Mr.  Mano Ganeshan, leader of the Democratic People’s Front highlighted to me that there was a significant proportion of  Hill Country Tamils living in Kilinochchi-Vanni areas. I was able to identify with  this due to my family living in Kilinochchi as farmers, before as well as after the war. Mr. Mano Ganeshan obviously was more conscious than I about their suffering due to being part of the war.

I am not fearful of Indian invasion and least of all of Hill Country Tamils being a major pathway for India to access Sri Lanka. The above report goes on to state:
Hindustan Times has learnt that Tamilchelvam made this revelation to some Tamil politicians who had met him recently. He had also said that Tiger Supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran’s personal bodyguards were drawn from the Indian Origin Tamil community. The leader trusted the Indian Origin Tamils more than he did the indigenous Sri Lankan Tamils, Tamilchelvam is reported to have said. The one million strong Indian Origin Tamil community lives mostly in the plantation areas of Central Sri Lanka. But small communities of them live in the Wanni area also, in Vavuniya and north of it in LTTE held territory. It is possible that the IOT, Tamilchelvam was referring to, were drawn mainly from the Wanni area, from within or close to the LTTE-controlled parts. But it may also mean that the plantations in Central Sri Lanka, set amidst Sinhalese villages, has been a recruiting ground…… The Tamil leaders who had met Tamilchelvam, said that Prabhakaran trusted his IOT cadres more because of the caste factor. Caste prejudice is deeply embedded in Sri Lankan Tamil society. Prabhakaran comes from the fisher caste, while the dominant caste in the Tamil majority North Eastern Sri Lanka, is Vellala. Jaffna, the heartland of "Tamil Eelam", particularly, is Vellala dominated.
As a Jaffna Tamil who has transcended the Caste system I identify with the above statements by Tamil leaders. The above statements confirm also that Prabhakaran would not have been elected as leader of  Jaffna Tamils. By electing Mr. Wigneswaran – Jaffna Tamils have confirmed that they were driven by work related hierarchies when it came to civil administration. Caste system is based on work related structures. If Prabhakaran had not been defeated  by the Government – he would have continued to live as an alien in his own mind due to this caste factor. The mind driven by caste – for better or for worse.
This order of outcome  has also been revealed by Ms Shenali Waduge  in her latest article mentioned above, in which Ms Waduge states:
The announcement of a secret pact with the TNA to remove or reduce military bases is connected to India’s claim that LTTE continues to fight for an Eelam that includes Greater Tamil Nadu, though it does question why India insists on the implementation of the 13th amendment and full devolution unless India too plans to compete for a separate North that the West would like to use as a base for itself in Asia. It also raises the question why India celebrated the 1000th anniversary of the ancient Tamil King Rajendra Chola (1014ce – Rajendra Chola I was the first Indian king to take his armies overseas and make conquests of these territories). India must realize the message it sends out in being proud of ancient Kings that invaded neighboring nations and questions the relevance to the current context of things.’
As per my cultural education, King Raja Raja Cholan, the father of King Rajendra Cholan mentioned above,  captured Anuradhapura area of  Lanka and this resulted in King Mahinda fleeing to Ruhuna area which includes Hambantota -  the local area of  President Mahinda Rajapaksa. It is interesting that Indians would celebrate the above victory  and even more interesting that Ms Shenali Waduge  who seems to be a supporter of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa, would  be concerned - as expected by the Indians!

Invasion fears could occupy the minds of  those who are not confident of their own strength of ownership in a particular area.  The parallel of the capture of King Mahinda has already happened in its contemporary form – through the Tamils of Sri Lankan origin using UN to deliver at the global level. If not for this UN action it is highly doubtful that the Political opposition would have moved to divide and weaken the Mahinda Government. And those Tamils did not come from Tamil Nadu. Tamils who had  similar mind order as King  Raja Raja Cholan were able to work the system to capture and occupy the minds of those who carry similar mind structure as King Mahinda V of Anuradhapura. So long as we live in the past  history would seem to repeat itself.

If even one Sri Lankan of our times of either ethnicity, who believes s/he is Sri Lankan, is punished due to activation of such past – the perpetrator would be attacked by greater force due to accumulation of strength over time – as is the case with interest accumulation. History could be used to learn lessons but not for current benefits. A real owner would share responsibilities as per each one’s / group’s strengths. Ms Waduge is yet to become an owner from being a beneficiary.

Presidents and President-makers

One is able to work out that Tamils do not have special position in the plans outlined by the Common Opposition Candidate in the Sri Lankan Presidential Elections. If the ethnic problem was considered to be  Common and high ranking in the mind of the Opposition Candidate – that needs to be given form at the level the problem has escalated to. As per news reports – Mr. Sirisena has promised to conduct a domestic investigation into war-crimes, through a local court, if he becomes the President. (The Hindu - Sri Lanka elections: Sirisena pledges war crime inquiry). Given that Tamils initiated the process of war-crimes inquiry at the international level – such move would amount to hijacking of the Tamil agenda by this candidate who seems common to Sinhalese opposition to the current President as an individual. The individual to be eligible to be recognized as equal opposition in Administration -  would need to have shown the ‘other’ side of the matter to the side taken by the current President. This was NOT the case with Mr. Sirisena. Politics is One sided and in the case of war-crimes majority Sinhalese have taken the side of  Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa. At the political level therefore one could conclude that majority Sinhalese are against a war-crimes inquiry.  If indeed, the war crimes issue is current and Mr. Sirisena is in favour of it  – is it appropriate for Mr.Sirisena to claim victory over Terrorism – as he has in his Election Manifesto?

The above confirm a confused mind order which would be far from being a source of confidence for minorities to feel that their work and sacrifices as Sri Lankans would be protected. Sri Lankans have to consciously develop appropriate systems if we are to  preserve and promote the cultural diversities of minorities so it would benefit all Sri Lankans and beyond.  All Sri Lankans genuinely affected by the war – would indeed have this as priority. This requires strong commitment to Affirmative Action. There are no indicators regarding  such a move by Mr. Sirisena.

Such absence has the effect of  downgrading of the efforts by all concerned to lift the issue to the international level. Consciously or otherwise  - the Common Candidate is suppressing the value of the investment made – especially by Tamils  to escalate the problem to the international level. In the Hindu legend of Mahabharatham, many elders fought on the side of majority who committed atrocities against the minority in that environment. This included the Common Guru Thronar and the Common Head of  the Royal Family Bhishmar. When Prince Arjuna of the minority side lost heart after seeing these elders against whom he had to fight and laid down his arms – Krishna woke him up through the Bhagawath Geetha – the essence of which is about one’s duty. Lord Krishna pointed out that the elders on the other side were doing their duty as per their positions – despite the personal conflict that arose out of it. The Sri Lankan voter is now being challenged to do her/his – as per the position – rather than as per individual preferences.

Many of us are  indirect participants in the elections and we need to rise to the higher level  - of common position.  That would promote development and maintenance of our positions in our own local environments – where some would be presidents and others president-makers.

An academic who wrote in response to my email  on the issue ‘You can change E=mc2. God only can follow your metaphysical energy crap!’.  I responded as follows: Einstein is reported to have had the EXPERIENCE of travelling with light (mentally) to discover E=mc2.   My parallel is
Commonness Energy  = Numbers x knowledge2 ; E = nk2

The Experience of Opposition has been by the Tamil Community of Sri Lanka. To equal the Energy of that Experience – one has to multiply numbers by surface knowledge raised to the higher power.  That is how minority keep balancing the forces affecting their environments. Those of us as members of minority groups would therefore need to have the experience as owners,  to be the balancing force manifesting the balancing form in various forms and at various times as needed. Once we give up and form local / domestic structures – as seems to be the case with Mr. Sirisena – we are no longer that balancing force of the larger group.  Tamils need to vote for the person who is more likely to be their opposition at the International level and not be fooled by someone who is likely to downgrade the issue to domestic level – and then sideline it as one of minority importance. To surface readers the ethnic issue  would tend to be of minority importance until another rebellion happens.

Why Tamils have the Duty to Vote for a Presidential Position

The following message from a Tamil Politician, in relation to Sri Lankan Presidential Elections, was forwarded to me this week:

["Voting against MR just turns out to be voting for MS:"
It is wrong. We must remember that to win  you have to poll 50% plus  vote.
So every vote to  third candidate  is a vote against both MR and MS.  So you are actually voting against all other candidates because for every valid vote cast they must get a vote to makeup the 50%..So do not be fooled. IF you want to vote against MR and MS, then vote for a third candidate of your choice. That is the advantage in a Presidential Election.]

I could not identify with that. Belief in a person/issue  is necessary for us to influence person/s mind/s  as if the mind is ours. This is especially important when we are not able to influence the person through our physical presence and/or our position power.  There are times when, due to strong thoughts in the opposite direction by the person manifesting outcomes – in this instance the Presidential candidates – we are not able to influence the mind of the person in our favor.

However, when we invest in an issue – we are able to use the mind of the opposition to produce outcomes at the level of OUR investment – albeit as the opposite side to the side we like to ‘see’. Once so manifested – the other side would happen when the surface is ready to become our medium. I learnt this about the path of Truth – through my own experiences here in Australia – which eventually helped me identify with my contribution to governance through ISSUES – rather than personalities. That to me was self-governance at the highest level of my own investments at global standards.

One who believes is never let down, because the gap is filled by Truth/God’s system.

When LTTE forced Tamils to abstain from voting in the 2005 Presidential Elections I was upset and felt that we as a community owed Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe – the leader of UNP -  the main opposition to the ruling  party SLFP. But now I realize that if  Tamils had voted and Mr. Wickremasinghe had been elected President,  the ethnic issue as well as our own Tamil side’s failure to Defend our  elders’ investment in non-violence, would  have been limited to the local level.  Escalation of the conflict to the higher level was needed due to the investment made by minorities who suffered genuine pain due to the ethnic conflict but did not have a national level leader  whom they could turn to. When LTTE hijacked the investments made by Tamils in self-governance and started killing the custodians of that power – the force of the investment made by Tamil leaders was included in the urge that influenced the Government of Sri Lanka - to seek International intervention which resulted in the demise of the LTTE. Mr. Wickremesinghe did not have the cleverness and the cunning needed to defeat LTTE. Mr. Rajapaksa had. In turn some of the excesses have returned to hurt Mr. Rajapaksa himself. Like with the Tamil force that influenced the Sri Lankan Government to seek International intervention, the Sinhalese who invested in non-violent path including through their belief in Lord Buddha also have facilitated this return – especially when they got upset with the Rajapaksa Government.

If therefore, Tamils voted for a third candidate who is yet to  demonstrate  investment in global governance – they would be letting down all of us who are continuously investing in global governance for Tamils of Sri Lanka. Our investments would  then remain as Energy and  manifest Itself  as wins in other parts of the world – for example the Hon Rathika Sitsabesan in Canada and/or for a Tamil candidate to emerge as Presidential candidate in Sri Lanka,  identified with by majority Sinhalese as a Common Sri Lankan. Since I feel common Sri Lankan, I am able to believe that this is possible in the next generation – as it was possible in America during my generation. One who invests globally feels identity with such experiences.

Ultimately when we invest at the deeper level – we invest in ourselves. When we are not able to find an individual through whom we could see ourselves – we tend to spread it over many individuals – as collective investment. Positions and Institutions help us consolidate this collective investment through family, workplace and Public structures. Common Laws and Principles help us to focus on the collection of individuals as if they were parts of One big individual. Through that Common path  - we become that One big individual.  Whether it is family or workplace or the nation – our investments as per our allocated and accepted positions – would lead us to this realization that we are the family/workplace/nation – irrespective of whether we are the Vice Chancellor/Prime Minister/President or Pariah (Toilet Cleaner) / Citizen without any other portfolio /  Minority criminal. Hence Tat Tvam Asi – Thou Art That.  That is the promise from God.

Given that majority Tamils claim to be believers in God – we need to demonstrate the power of Belief  - that Tamils are capable of Governance of Global standards – by voting for the person who would best return our investment in global governance – albeit as the other side -  given that both leading candidates are Sinhalese. The cleverer one out of the two main candidates would continue to maintain our opportunities at global level. Let’s not waste it for lesser purposes.   The ultimate winner is the self-governor – and this may very well be a Nalavan (Toddy Tapper) from Vaddukoddai who was part of the LTTE form manifested due to the abuses of the caste system in that part of  Sri Lanka at the time of declaring independent Tamil State. When a system is practiced largely for purposes of authority without common faith – it becomes obsolete and the wrongs consolidate themselves as  irredeemable wrongs – known as sins.  It then becomes difficult to trace the reasons causing the effects. But when we are true to ourselves with the little we have – we would know the karmic connection.  Until Tamils implement systems that would   ‘compensate’ for the abuses of power through the caste system – we as a community would not have earned the right to political declaration of independence . Once we compensate and make amends – we would be the natural  Equal opposition of majority who elect government. This applies globally in any nation where there is a self-governing Tamil community.

Tamils of Sri Lanka have invested in the Sri Lankan Parliamentary structure. Let us vote to uphold and strengthen that investment of our ancestors. Then we carry the motivating Energy beyond Time and Place borders.

It is disrespectful to vote to negate someone else’s expression of  belief.  When we vote for the  defeat of an individual – we confirm that our standards are low  - at business level or at the level of blind and frivolous following. Belief is always a positive Energy – even when It manifests negative-looking outcomes. If the outcomes were proof – Gandhi ought to be considered a criminal and not an Independence Hero. By going to prison as per the leadership – Gandhi escalated the conflict to Head of State level. Every Tamil who votes to defeat an individual is exposing her/his low standards of governance. Such – even if they had the desired effects - would not go further than our local borders.   Every Tamil who out of indifference is failing to vote is throwing away the opportunity to invest in the position of  Head of State and therefore the opportunity to be or influence the  head position (i.e. King-makers) in their own local structures. It is our investment of our own free will - that brings us the opportunities to participate in the Head of State experiences – anywhere anytime.

Once, a group of LTTE leaders said to  me after I disciplined an LTTE combatant -  ‘Akka (big sister)  we are wondering whether you are Krishna or Gandhi?’  I said – ‘both’ as per the needs of my environment. Krishna influenced war as the ultimate solution AFTER all other avenues  available in that environment failed. Gandhi who also believed in Krishna, by using non-violent non-cooperation prevented premature use of armed war / rebellion.  My experiences in Australia – were along Gandhi path – and by disciplining the LTTE combatant, I was demonstrating that I was comfortable with Krishna path also.  They are both different sections of One path. When minority/juniors  absorb pain and damage with forbearance due to their lower positions, their investment in the whole is strengthened. When such strength reaches a  point where it  becomes greater than the strength of the majority/senior in their environment – they would invoke natural powers to destroy the perpetrators – known as Surar (those with greater animal / automatic negative tendencies).  Minorities / Juniors who contributed to that strength would become the messengers of Natural Forces of destruction.

Traditional structures are carried forward not through investment in individuals of average goodness but through individuals of outstanding goodness based on whose life common paths evolve. We thus love / believe in systems that flow from such higher individuals. In this instance we are voting for a global position and not any particular Sri Lankan candidate of our generation, of outstanding goodness. Mahinda Rajapaksa like Velupillai Prabhakaran may be Thuriyothana to some Sri Lankans but Maithreepala Sirisena is no Arjuna with the strength of focus to win justice for victims of  abuse of authority.

Tamil Muslim Vote in Sri Lanka

As per recent Tamil Diaspora reports,  the Muslim vote for the incumbent government in Sri Lanka, would tend to be low due to the recent  Sinhala-Muslim riots.  The voter has the power to express her/himself through her/his vote.  Where the damage is  strong – the voter would remember even when elections happen long after the damage happened. At  the physical level  - such a vote may be just one. But when we feel governance pain – i.e. – pain and damage to the practice of our inherent and natural sovereignty we would not forget and would vote to exercise our right – without caring about whether the side that hurt us loses or not. I believe that where there are enough voters available – the manifestation at the physical level would actually be equal to the number of units of pain as per the number of voters covered by that person’s standards. If for example the pain was due to damage to the strong  investment in policy and systems structure – it covers all victims who have been so damaged even though they may not be conscious of the damage. For example – where we invest in Equal Opportunity principles and values and the other side does not and the other side is responsible for policy making and maintenance – the pain I felt due to government failing to recognize my belief in racial equality – would manifest exponentially at the voters’ level.

Tamils as well as Muslims in Sri Lanka, now have the opportunity to vote to express their grievances. Through the downfall of former Australian Prime Minister – John Howard, I knew that  I had been heard through the Judge in the Court of Natural Justice and the voters delivered the verdict. My pain became investment and accumulated interest whilst it was ‘waiting’ for the surface to be ready.

Last week’s hostage taker – a Muslim voter – had the opportunity to do likewise but by failing to ‘wait’ for God’s outcomes to be delivered through the official system, that Muslim confirmed that he did not believe in God’s system.  Given that he used the ISIL flag he reduced their value also in the Court of Natural Justice.

As I explain to my students – our work produces outcomes at three levels:

1.      Objectively measurable outcomes such as money
2.      Subjectively measurable outcomes such as status and majority opinion
3.      Ownership values from which real rights flow.

Where money benefits and rights as allocated by law are combined largely on ‘seen’ basis – it is in breach of the principles of Democracy. Every migrant who uses Equal rights to receive same level of benefits as one who has through the subjective system - paid her/his respects to the seniors/leaders  who are ultimately responsible to present the Balance Sheet of the whole, has the responsibility to place the leaders of that secular system before her/his cultural system when making decisions that are common with other Australians. Only a migrant who is able to interpret the law independently and who did not receive benefits as per the interpretation of that law/principle by a member of another culture, is entitled  to  independently produce her/his own outcomes. When such a person is punished by the ‘system’ of majority – the negative returns happen immediately and manifest themselves when the surface is ready to manifest the other side of that Truth. All judgments delivered in the meantime – are part of the middle process. Often the effects when they happen after long wait -  are as strong as those manifestations we refer to as Acts of God. This is why they say that children suffer due to the sins of parents.

A migrant who seeks not to accept the leadership of majority culture as common governance becomes independent when the benefits are adjusted downwards to match the subjective component. This is also the ‘rights’ component. Despite working as an Australian, I was listed as Sri Lankan by Australian employers and authorities.  When at the same time there is show of Equal status through a transparent process – such listing confirms diversity and admiration for Sri Lanka. When so listed at the time of punishment by one who officially carries higher authority – by effect it is racial discrimination – which is unlawful in Australia. It is also unlawful in the Court of Natural Justice if race is not  part of the reason for allocating status and money benefits.

In essence, a migrant of different culture needs to perform at a higher level than her/his counterpart who uses subjective power due to being majority at that place at that time, in order to be independent of that subjective system through which common benefits are enjoyed.  Most migrants who fail to so perform are part of the assimilation with majority – be it in Christian Australia or Buddhist Sri Lanka. The money and status we take ‘home’ with us into our Communities and Families – are from that system and the custodians of power are our Masters when we fail to so sacrifice in a new area we have migrated to. I sacrificed here in Australia and went naturally into the Hindu system of belief as practiced by those connected to the oldest known Hindu minds.

Recently I happened to view the BBC Canada report on Sri Sathya Baba – claiming that he was a fraud and a sexual abuser.  In 1998 I was not a devotee but accepted the majority opinion in my family while I continue to give form to my belief through Hindu Deities – especially Lord Muruga. But during my experience in 1998 – starting with discrimination pain at the University of New South Wales – where I WAS performing at a far higher level than my counterpart of majority race – there was manifestation of Holy Powder in the picture of Sai Baba gifted to me by a cousin. The only time I saw Sai Baba physically was in 2009 – when he was above 80 in terms of physical age. That was to thank Sai Baba for being my Spiritual Guru so I would discover how Truth worked to balance the life of one committed to Truth – i.e. my life.  The couple in that story by BBC Canada were whites as was the reporter.  Given that Sai Baba was always Indian – and Indian leaders by their very presence at Sai Baba Ashram  confirmed their endorsement of Sai Baba as a Hindu Spiritual Guru – Canadian media was acting in breach of the doctrine of separation of powers needed between diverse cultures. That BBC Canada report is the parallel of ISIS claims and generates its equal and opposite forces manifested often through minority groups waiting to take revenge.   When there are such charges against a true Spiritual Guru who has been promoting World Harmony through His work – the consequences are global for the group that the authorities who assumed power belong to – in this instance -  Canada and the Christian countries associated with Canada.

Where the reporter does not feel with the group the person being reported on belongs to through common faith – majority opinion of the folks of the culture of  the subject being reported on  must determine whether or not a report is to be published and that too only after it passes the relevance test. If it is selfish for the reporter – BBC in this instance – then such cultural reports should be limited within the boundaries of  their mainstream groups and not minority groups – including Natives who are often labeled by mainstream as practitioners of paganism. I was listed as a mad person by the Australian system for stating my belief in Sai Baba as my Spiritual Guru. Money Business in family and workplace  is the parallel of Paganism in religion. Paganism with belief – is positive. Paganism without belief leads to madness.  Likewise Objective outcomes including stand-alone information – without ownership of the whole to whom or on whose behalf the outcomes are published,  leads to madness – including in migrants who take up subjective authority  over traditional owners of the Land.

One who is driven by money level outcomes tends to ‘handover’ as if the benefits are solids. One who produces ownership outcomes produces Energy that is shared – and this like gas is not visible to the eye. Real rights flow from contributions at this level.  Often the subjective system connects the two through Due Processes – as liquids do. Transparency and Accountability are required in Democratic Management so one could determine the level of the producer of outcomes relative to oneself.

One who claims benefits through legally allocated rights – but without having earned it fully, develops unstable mind.  In terms of the Sri Lankan elections therefore Tamils and Muslims must vote not only to exercise their franchise – but also to empower the winning side – whoever may win the leadership seat. If the side we vote for does not win – they as part of the opposition would be stronger than they otherwise would be.

To the extent minorities felt pain and experienced damage close to their ownership rights – as per their Truth – their vote would carry that force which would keep accumulating power until the outcomes happen. I felt deeply  hurt at the University of New South Wales as well as by  the Federal Government headed by Mr. Howard – whose form I gave to my own belief in the law. The pain I felt  had the effect of me deciding to return to Sri Lanka after Ms Pauline Hanson asked migrants who could not assimilate to go back to the countries they came from – the same way some Sinhalese ask Tamils to go back to India.

As one Sri Lankan highlighted last week – Australia’s Constitution is likely to be based on Christian values. The minds that interpret are likely to be of Christian culture. The same law interpreted by a Muslim or a Hindu is likely to be different due to the positions taken as per our own experiences. Those who are yet to become truly Australian – are likely to use their thought order as they did in their country of origin. Often in a new environment,  it is easier to take our allocated positions than to fight for our earned positions – as per our assessments.  If our assessments - after we have tried our best through the official processes  - are close   to assessments as per God’s system of Truth – then the other side return would happen without fail – and we would identify with them provided we stay within the boundaries of the system where the damage happened.  If for example – I had gone back to Sri Lanka after Pauline Hanson’s statement in August 1998 – I would have not shared the Energies with fellow Australians.

Likewise unless we of the Sri Lankan Diaspora feel connected to the voter in Sri Lanka – we would not be able make a difference in the Sri Lankan elections. The surface is the voter. The power is common.  All members of Diaspora who have been providing service as if they have been damaged are continuously influencing the voter at grassroots level. Many such service providers are non-political. Out of those – the ones who develop internal systems that confirm the connection between the local voter and the global shareholder are developing Administrative systems needed by the post-war generation. All others are in it for their own status and/or money benefits.

The internal split within the ruling party in Sri Lanka, confirms separatism karma that is beyond the control of  majority race in Sri Lanka. Tamils & Muslims close to self-governance would identify with this Natural outcome as an Act of God.  Their votes would be thanks-giving votes.

Those who have already taken revenge one way or the other would keep carrying on regardless and continue to produce more and more war-related business.

Know Thy Law & Protect Our Democracy

When we invest in commonness – however small the group may be – we enjoy global values. It is therefore better to invest in a small group with whom we could be honest than to be obedient to larger groups in which we are just numbers. A Sri Lankan asked me in response to my claim that the Sri Lankan Constitution allocates higher status to Buddhism above other religions (article ‘The Cost of Diversty http://austms.blogspot.com.au/ ) :

1.      ‘Higher status allocated to Buddhism??
2.      You live in a Christian country where the foremost place is given to Christianity and whose constitution is founded on Christian values and find no fault with that? ‘

My response was:
1.That is how I interpret the Sri Lankan Constitution. If you interpret differently I conclude that you are of a different culture and therefore we need to travel parallel and not one behind the other. We may of course hold hands where we feel in common

2.The values on which Australian Constitution is founded did come through the Christian path. But to be Australian values they need to work for all on equal basis.  The value here is the parallel of God.  If we apply your interpretation – we must have one Christian god and another Hindu god and another Buddhist god – and they must all be fighting up Above!!!!  Our systems need to be close to the system of God. One who works it out would be the source of strong and reliable structures that would work for all – each one as per their own contribution.

Whether it be Australia or Sri Lanka - the consequences of  bringing one culture to follow the other results in separatism – even when practiced at the family level. Commonness when divided would show equal parts and v.v. The end of a relationship is family. We do allocate status to confirm the higher contribution to the common values by one relation over the other. But once we realize commonness – for example as Australian – there is no relativity.  To the extent we think relatively – we are not common with that person/group.

Today, I received reports about a petition by a group headed by President’s Counsel Shantha Abimannasingham and Attorney at Law J. Jayaroopan handed over  to the Provincial Council in relation to drinking water being contaminated due to the Electricity Plant at Chunnakam Power Station.

I came across Ms Shantha Abimannasingham during my participation in a testamentary case at Mallakam Courts which area is reported to be included in the above petition.  During my above experience with the legal experts in Jaffna - I was appalled by their  lack of  commitment to the common values of Jaffna Tamils – given form through the Customary Law – Thesawalamai – specific to Jaffna Tamils.   Ms Abimannasingham is a very clever Attorney at Law and enjoys high status within the Tamil Community of Northern Sri Lanka. But through my direct experience,  I discovered that the lawyers in Jaffna fail to submit a part of their high status to the common good of the Court system. It is now more than a year since the last witness gave evidence in relation to the Administration and sharing of Intestate Estate of a family member. Yet, the Court has not delivered the judgment.   We have traveled all the way from Australia many times – on the promise that there would be judgment delivered as promised but only to be told that the judgment was not ready.  Despite our disappointment at the delay of Justice we have accepted the delay as being part of problems faced by Tamils affected by war.  To some this problem with Court Administration may seem less important than water-contamination problems. But to a lawyer – pollution of Court Administration must take preference over general water pollution problem in her/his area. It would – to a lawyer who has sacrificed higher status to become Common with the Public in Court. The law is common path and a lawyer serving society would ensure that those laws serve all participants on equal opportunity basis – the lawyer her/himself being only one equal part of the whole group of Public. The common order of thought is determined by the investment we make in common laws and values. The primary purpose of Courts is to promote this common order.

Towards this it is essential that we do not go outside the boundaries of the laws covering a matter.  The Mallakam Courts went outside those boundaries many times when they referred to my second marriage (accepted as a lawful marriage) – to elevate themselves in the mind of the judge towards a subjective win.   That selfishness had the effect of separating me from the Court Community – a pollution caused by lawyers.   Ultimately – I acted to save the dignity of such marriages – which are not uncommon in Jaffna and the provisions to manage which are included in the law of Thesawalamai – confirming the strength of our culture.  Accordingly – after stepping down from the witness box – I said to the opposition lawyer words to the effect ‘I am not a prostitute’.  To our lawyer I said I was most disappointed in him for failing to prevent such infiltration. The Judge raised his voice to discipline me and said that I was behaving like a street woman and claimed that it did not go positively towards our claim to Administer the Estate. In other words – the judge received the blow given to the lawyers.

The Sydney tragedy earlier this week happened also due to pollution in our Australian legal system. The lawyer of the hostage taker is reported to have stated about his  Muslim client ‘Knowing he was on bail for very serious offences, knowing that while he was in custody some terrible things happened to him, I thought he may consider that he's got nothing to lose.

As confirmed here in Australia as well as in Mallakam Courts – I rise above the ‘system’ after having contributed to it at its maximum level of practice.   Beyond that I express as per my Truth. But those who continue to ‘relate’ from lower position – would lose faith and tend towards the ‘freedom of  the animal within themselves – which is also within all of us. When we clean up our legal system – we would clean up our environment of all kinds of pollutions.

Former Justice of Sri Lankan Supreme Court – the Hon C.V. Wigneswaran  has the opportunity to be  a Governor in terms the Justice system in Northern Sri Lanka where he is Chief Minister. It will be interesting as to how Justice is delivered by the Provincial Council in this instance. The rift within the major Political parties has yet again highlighted that weak contribution to ‘Commonness’ promotes separatism. Tamils yet again emerge as the real opposition in Sri Lanka. Man may propose as per his limited mind but the mind that lives close to God / Truth – destroys the proposal where at least one genuine participant’s contribution is unjustly damaged. Hence all that any Tamil believing in God  has to do is continue to strengthen that belief and facilitate the manifestations of Divine outcomes.
