HERD IMMUNITY AGAINST BLACK JULY
The Black July Anniversary is not
too far away. If we focus on the truth alone , we would fill our mind with the problem
as well as the opportunity. That is mindfulness. Such a mind will not recognise
any cost or benefit along the way. It often begins with sacrifice at the
starting point. The following response from Trevor Jayetileke in my UN list, to my article ‘LOVE CONQUERS ALL’ confirms this:
[You
are right my friend. , and let me tell you that JESUS was also LOVE, and his
sacrifice of himself was all for the sake of LOVE.
Reading
the Tale of two cities by Charles Dickens we see central character Sydney
Carton sacrificed his life for his friend Charles Darney for this same reason.
Dickens goes on to say (through the voice of Carton) that greater Love has
no man than his sacrifice of himself for a friend., like Christ did for the
whole world on the CROSS.( that we all carry ourselves in our journey of life).]
If
the victims of July 1983 pogrom had gone deeply into their own experience, and
discovered that the problem was race based at their level- they would have NOT continued
to live in Colombo and other affected areas - but returned to their home areas. Those who accepted
that pain as part of the ‘ownership’ cost ‘taken’ by the ancestral powers of that land where they built their homes,
would have stayed in Colombo and other areas where the attacks happened (outside
North & East).
This
‘return’ confirms the herd/community immunity levels have been achieved. Mayo clinic presents
herd immunity as follows:
[Herd immunity occurs when a large portion of a community
(the herd) becomes immune to a disease. The spread of disease from person to
person becomes unlikely when herd immunity is achieved. As a result, the whole
community becomes protected — not just those who are immune.
Often, a percentage of the population must be capable of getting
a disease in order for it to spread. This is called a threshold proportion. If
the proportion of the population that is immune to the disease is greater than
this threshold, the spread of the disease will decline. This is known as the
herd immunity threshold.]
We call it faith-healing which works only when we believe in the
faith-healer. Such faith is shared naturally at community level – from mind to
mind. It needs to be independent of the official system – That is how de facto
systems successfully cure that which cannot be cured by official systems –
commonly known as ‘Western systems’.
In Colombo 6 – one of the worst affected Tamil area during the
pogrom – the success of ‘community-immunity’ was reached long before the active
armed war began. The reason – ‘race’ is caused by excessive vaccination which
is also due to herd-mentality . Herd mentality produces ‘hearsay’ which infects
the mind and this leads to think that it has a problem. Placebo-treatment is enough to cure hearsay diseases.
In current news here in New South Wales – we hear about another
Omicron variant. The requirement by Australian government is published as
follows:
[You do not need to provide proof of a
negative COVID-19 test to meet Australian inbound travel requirements.]
Both cannot be true in the same mind.
Likewise, the risk of Black July recurrence and the proportionate
increase in Tamil population in Colombo since 1983.
Those
who sacrifice earned benefits at community level – will know that the Black
July risk is no longer true.
I
had indicators in 2009, when I was ‘lost’, not knowing who needed me ‘more’ –
those in the camps or the soldiers who had done their duty, the indicator came
that it was the side that initiated the 13 soldier tragedy presented as follows
by Wikipedia:
[The LTTE
carried out its first major attack on 23 July 1983, when they ambushed Sri Lanka
Army patrol Four Four
Bravo at
Thirunelveli, Jaffna. Thirteen Sri Lankan servicemen were killed in the
attack, leading to the Black July pogrom where up to 3000 Tamil civilians were
killed across the island.
Many
consider Black July to be a planned rampage against the Tamil
community of Sri Lanka, in which sections of the government were implicated.
Thousands of
outraged Tamil youths joined Tamil militant groups to fight the Sri Lankan
government, in what is considered a major catalyst to the insurgency in Sri
Lanka.]
In 1976, the leading Tamil Political party
declared that the Tamil community was a Nation. This is known as the
Vaddukoddai Resolution. In the 1977 Parliamentary
elections they became Equal Opposition in National Parliament. The government
formed in 1977 was led by Mr J R Jayewardene. Mr Jayewardene’s mind structure, soon
after elections, is indicated by the following:
[The
JVP entered democratic politics in 1977 when President J.R. Jayewardene released the JVP leader, Rohana Wijeweera, from prison.]
- Wikipedia
After the 1983 pogrom his mind structure
is indicated by the following:
SRI LANKA ROUNDING UP COMMUNISTS
[The Sri Lanka Government, which accused an unnamed
foreign power of instigating ethnic riots last week, has arrested the leaders
of the outlawed pro-Moscow Communist Party.
A Government spokesman, Douglas Liyanage,
announcing the arrests, said the leaders of two other banned leftist parties
wanted by the security forces had gone into hiding.
President J. R. Jayewardene banned the Communist
Party, the extreme-left People's Liberation Front and the New Socialist Party
on Saturday.] https://www.nytimes.com/1983/08/03/world/sri-lanka-rounding-up-communists.html
The following confirms
that the then President was concerned by a larger opposition:
"I
am not worried about the opinion of the Jaffna people... now we cannot think of
them, not about their lives or their opinion... the more you put pressure in
the north, the happier the Sinhala people will be here... Really if I starve
the Tamils out, the Sinhala people will be happy."
- President J.R.Jayawardene, Daily
Telegraph, July 1983
Given that the then
President had confessed to a foreign power at the time of arresting pro-Moscow Communist Party, one is entitled to
conclude that the President’s focus was on Russia/Soviet Union. JVP as well as
LTTE were armed rebel groups against the government – claiming to promote
socialism, but practicing Communism. It is natural that Mr Jayawardene would seek to eliminate it to protect
Capitalism. In addition, Mr Jayawardene was pro American leader. Hence LTTE was
a small part of the Common enemy and not the sole enemy.
We will all identify with diverse causes of Black
July. To the extent we are true we will contribute to community-immunity that
would become our protective armour against attacks based on unjust
discrimination.
