Lankan Unity
Stronger than Tamil Unity
My Media Relative Rajeewa
Jayaweera shared with us his feels in December 2018 through his article ‘Mahinda
Rajapaksa Unfit For Leader Of Opposition’ published by Colombo Telegraph. The
above came to my attention when I was reading the Colombo Telegraph article ‘Empty Promises & Deceptive
Politics Of Tamil Leaders’ by Mr M. K. Eelaventhan – former member of Parliament, Sri Lanka
I identified with more in Rajeewa’s article than in
Mr Eelaventhan’s.
The reason could be our common Administrative mind structure confirmed through
Air Lanka – where we were both Senior Managers. These are heritages that we
shared with those of common faith.
Rajeewa states in his article about Leader of
the Opposition (LoO):
[The position of LoO stems from the Westminster
parliamentary system. He or she is chosen by a vote of the largest non-government
party. The holder of the post is sometimes called the alternative Prime
Minister, as the holder may become Prime Minister if their party (or coalition)
wins the support of the majority of Members of Parliament]
That is
the way that position allocated as per the primary level participants – the voters.
But where there is intellectual opposition the institutional values of
Parliament are elevated to the higher level. That I believe is the reason why I
won the case in the Colombo Appeal Court but failed to win in its Jaffna
parallel where the minds of the judges were strongly influenced by lawyers who
were also politicians. Once they go into that ‘easier’ political mode their
mental abilities shrink to that which is ‘convenient’ – especially with someone
who seems to be insignificant. In Jaffna women continue to be seen as being
insignificant unless they are seen to be in high status positions.
Mr Eelaventhan states:
[It is sickening and disappointing to note
that the Tamil leaders are recently blowing hot and cold over the issues of
Tamils due to their fixation and obsession to win the Tamil electorates
while TNA leader Sampanthan is praising an alleged war criminal Mahinda
Rajapaksa as the man of the people and leader of all people, Retired Justice
Wigneswaran is dishing out conflicting and contradicting statements sometime
praising LTTE leader and very recently calling the Tamil voters not to vote for
parties who are backed by the former LTTE freedom fighters.]
The above confirms to me that Mr Eelaventhan’s Allegiance is to the LTTE. This is
confirmed by the following:
[Tamil
National Alliance blessed and endorsed by the leader of Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam in 2002 has been carrying the mantle of Tamil leadership, but they
have miserably and disgustingly failed to deliver anything ]
The above does not make sense to me due to the
following order in which ‘facts’ manifested:
1.
Samuel
James Veluppillai Chelvanayakam passed away and became a Common Tamil ancestral power in
April 1977. From then on every Tamil through whose power he too leadership – had
natural access to the values espoused by the leader. It was no longer
particular to one group or even one community. This soul’s official heir was
the Hon Appapillai Amirthalingam whose death
memorial was remembered with respect by some of us who inherited the
Vaddukoddai Resolution 1976 – representing the Political Opposition in National
Parliament. This confirmed natural Equal status to those who believed Tamils and
other minorities are naturally Equals in Sri Lanka through their
self-governance.
2.
At that
time there were no visible followers of the LTTE and hence one is entitled to
conclude that they were not leaders back then. They were therefore not heirs of
Samuel James Veluppillai Chelvanayakam’s political heritage.
3.
On 13
July 1989 the LTTE killed the political heir – the Hon Appapillai Amirthalingam.
If anyone expects the
electorate to accept that TNA was blessed by the leader of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam – in 2002
– then such a person must think that ‘anything goes’ with us.
Rajeewa
on the other hand wrote about relevant Administrative manifestations:
a popular website contains real-time data of attendance and participation in
parliamentary debates of 224 Parliamentarians (225th being the Speaker). It
provides details of Overall Ranking, Party Ranking, Participation in
Parliamentary debates and Topics Participated in, of each parliamentarian.
According to this website, Mahinda Rajapaksa’s ranking in attendance is no 178
(out of 225), no 55 within the Joint Opposition, has participated 13 times in
parliament and taken part in debates related to five topics.
It must be highlighted,
Rajapaksa did not vote in the No-Confidence motion brought against Prime
Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe
by the Joint Opposition in April 2018.
It is a disgraceful track record.]
Facts known to us - arranged in chronological order confirm the truth we need
to know. Accordingly – if Mr Mahinda Rajapaksa becomes Prime Minister – he would
have great difficulty playing the junior role to his younger brother.
Duttugemunu’s history in which the younger brother inherited the throne instead
of the son - has thus repeated itself.
Likewise in Jaffna Tamil
community also political heirs were eliminated by armed rebels. As I often say
about juniors in general – they pretend
to be your junior until they think they are ‘free’ and then they take senior position
above you by ‘showing’ more. Recently a fellow Australian of Lankan origin confirmed
this about Sinhalese also. Then I move away from then and my true Energies lead
me to do so.
That was what Tamil
Sri Lankan politicians did and continue to do. If majority Jaffna Tamils or
Eastern Tamils vote for Tamil only leaderships – these Sri Lankan Tamils will
naturally mind merge with Sri Lankan Sinhalese. Together they would protect the
true Sri Lankan Ownership – with the blessings of our exponential ancestral
forces.
In the meantime the elections will
tell us whether Tamils seek separation or Equal Opposition in National Parliament.
They are not the same. Mine is for Equal Opposition which brings me global
opportunities.
